Which hand do you write with? Are you a droite rightie or a gauche leftie?

It's stated that only 1 in 10 people are left-handed

Well yeah, whyever would someone not write with their right hand? (plus it's the right hand...God forbid how messy my writing would be if I used my wrong hand)

Lefites find it hard to write with an ink pen, as they can smudge the words, and get the base of their hand covered in ink.

Back in Victorian times, lefties were thought to be the devil and were forced to write with their right hand.

Left for writing, drawing and painting (and other fine/ technical hand work)

Right for basically everything else.

That always baffled me. Most of the Western world can trace its origins back to the Holy Land (If you're Christian Jewish or Muslim this probably applies to you). The 2 main languages there were Hebrew and Arabic, both of which were written right-to-left. I'd think that people would be encouraged to use their left hand to write, to prevent smudging the ink.
