Well, there IS a huge meteor headed in our direction bound to hit us sometime between 2012 and 2030. I'm talking like dinosaurs big. Like, extinction big.

Hmm...

I was watching ACAMS's video and thought "gee, all of that stuff sounds awfully familiar..." and then I realized Canada has most of the stuff that video was calling basically apocalyptic.

I've come to realize you guys down south are deathly afraid of Left Wing governments. Truth is, the Democrats are quite Right Wing, and the Republicans are just further right. Canada's Conservative party is the most Right Wing party here, and they're still Left of the Democrats.

Hey! I have a crazy idea! Let's let Obama govern for about 1 year before we call him god-awful. Mabye, terrorists won't hate you guys anymore, and the USA enters an era of prosperity never before seen. We just don't know yet.

I honestly did not have a good candidate. Mccain is not as bad as Obama may but he is not someone I feel strongly about.
Obama had 588 million dollars worth of tv/other ads. mccain had 79 million.
and obama still only got 53% of the vote(only 100,000 more votes then bush). think about that. He still only got 50% of the vote and spent a hell of alot of money.
and I hate bush. HATE. I am happy he is gone.

Serge, American society is going down hill. It's getting worse yearly. I am in the middle of it. People escape in pleasure and think life is supposed to be comfortable/stimulating all of the time. People here cannot function unless they have some video or audio attached to their persons for continuous preoccupation. Education is put down (even here on this forum), as though it a burden instead of a priviledge. People at every level are less responsible and more self-centered. Narcissism is normalcy. Relationships at every level are falling apart. This IS my Forte, I know what I'm talking about. This pattern has recurred many times before...

Yes, ACAMS is harsh, and I don't think it's good sometimes either. But I also understand and even share the frustration about the way people are degrading and becoming less responsible/more selfish and lazy; while some in Washington would want to take money from those who do work and give it to those who live on free handouts ("share the wealth" as Obama put it). This is, and has been, the mantra of the Democratic party here.... and it is only feeding our biggest problems. This 'free handouts for votes' has been their biggest stategum; in other words, don't teach them how to fish(work) just keep giving them fish(dependence), and they'll alway let/need us in control. And these dependents themselves, younger voters, immigrants, and people outside the states, in their initial euphoria do not see that this will actually make things worse.

And sure the Republicans are not far behind, but at least they want to hold people responsible for their own welfare, and not enable people to become 'liability leaches' on the whole system.
If our society continues to degrade itself (which history heavily implies it will), then there will soon come a time when the only thing that can hold society together is through the extrinsic coercion of an iron-handed government dictating social order.

In my opinion "dependents" won this election for obama. many of the people that voted for him dont have a job and live with their parents. They dont understand where the free stuff comes from. It comes from those of us that bust our butt 40+ hours a week.
Because of all of my "issues" I am elegable for thousands of dollars of "free" money each year. I refuse to take it. I dont need anyone to support me, I can support myself.

I get really frustrated when people from other countries try to put in their two cents.
Im still a "kid" but I too have seen a decline in self worth and an increase in an entitlement mentality.
America does not need "change" it needs to be fixed. We are broke(figuratively and literally)

And i agree with Serge on the fact that America will NEVER become a socialist republic. Socialist republics are basically totalitarism. But, you guys actually live in a "democratic" republic, that is, i'm simplifying big time, a "free country".

Consequently, there is no way the American people, used to freedom, is going to accept totalitarism.

BUMMER.....I was going easy on it here....I must be a total ass up close. Well, maybe. But sometimes 'sternness' is needed to get through and awaken people from a lethargy to potential destruction. "Friends don't let friend drive drunk." Although this would not be 'venting', it might appear the same, though very different motives.

Nar and Serge are not here to see what you and I see, ACAMS(Goose and others..). But, we still have it pretty good compared to most places in the world. Thus their rightful objection to our 'bitching' when we have it better than most. But, it's the direction we're going that we're pointing out here... WE ARE degrading as a society, and our lack of sober discernment is enabling and thus hastenning this process...

Anyways, why are people so concerned with what other people will get from Barack? Everyone's complaining about how people on welfare get so much free stuff, can't they just be happy about their own benefits? (I assume no one here is raking in 250K+ a year) There are always going to be people out there whose money to work ratio is better than yours.

The upper class already makes money by sitting on their ass all day. Why not let the lower class do the same?
