Title: Past Hobbies
Post by: HurricaneAndrew on February 13, 2012, 06:29:54 PM
We all have some hobbies that we have given up... What are yours?

As some of you already know, one of my past hobbies was garden tractor pulling. (See videos below for examples...)

The second video is actually the association I used to pull with.

One of my many past hobbies is that I use to get Beyblades and customize them into my own creation.

Not used one in about 6 or 7 years, may get them out of the attic and use them again for a laugh.

You did that too? I had one that I had two weight rings on that no one at my school could beat.

Legos, but that evolved into fighting robots.

I briefly dabbled in RC airplanes but they were waaaaay to expensive and I was waaaaay too bad at flying them.

Used to love this old off-road racing game called TDOR or something. You chose from a Chevy Silverado, a Jeep, a Hummer and a Land Rover and raced them on all sorts of tracks. It was fun but I lost the disc D:

Also I used to play Yugioh. Was beast at it until no one wanted to play me.

Test Drive: Off Road? I have it. As a matter of fact I found my disc again earlier.

RC-car robot combat... Good ol' times. I did it with Temi, Otso & his brother back in 2004-2006...

I still play yugioh and I am questionably still beast at it :P.

I used to play tonnes and tonnes of Lego Rock Raiders but I lost the disk.

I tried two Dual weight rings before, one worked well and the other left somewhat to be desired (Basically, it sucked)

I used to build with Legos as well. I also used to ride the family ATV, but my dad is insisting that we sell it. This makes me sad. Now I play WFRP, Gmod and Minecraft, go shooting, watch Top Gear and attempt to go offroading in my RWD truck. Haven't gotten stuck yet. There's also my micronation, but that's more of a project than a hobby.

I loved mixing up Beyblades, I had one with one of those sparking metal rims, it wasn't particularly effective, but it put on a hell of a show.

I used to be into Warhammer 40k (The actual tabletop game), I mostly just enjoyed building and painting the minis, I've been looking into getting back into the miniature painting aspect of it recently.

Past hobbies, huh?

Well...

Reading was one of them... Then I ran out of interesting books to read
Writing was one of them... Then I realised I couldn't write a good fiction to save my life
Bot building was one of them... Then I got harassed to make more bots
GFX was one of them... Then I kinda gave up on it
Gaming was one of them... Then truly good games became incredibly scarce
Art was one of them... Then I lost my motivation

If you ran out of good books to read, you probably weren't looking hard enough.

And yet you are still working on writing a couple of things, you still occasionally build bots for the lulz, you still play games (even random ones that you know nothing about), and you still draw (although drawing rate has definitely decreased), as for reading and GFX, I'm not really sure.

I have a narrow taste in genres, and prefer picture books and graphic novels/manga anyway

It's all a complete chore... except for Monster Girl Quest, which I really should stop playing, I played it all afternoon yesterday

Hmm...really? Touhou, Kingdom Hearts, Days of Memories, Radiant Historia, 9 Hours 9 Persons 9 Doors, Harvest Moon: Grand Bazaar? All games you have claimed to have enjoyed in one way or another, have they all been complete chores? Also, you shouldn't really stop playing a game if you enjoy it.

Yeah, gaming was my most recent hobby, then you tried to force me to play Fire Emblem
Title: Re: Past Hobbies

That's only because you have it, and are trying to make it out as the hardest game in the world when you haven't even played it once. Besides, I've stopped that now. And besides, gaming is still a hobby as long as you enjoy playing games, and you do still enjoy playing games.

Not nearly as much as I used to, and I've played all the games you've mentioned now, completed them, got bored, can't find any decent games to play any more besides MGQ and the less we know about that the better

I haven't told you about many of the games I know. I could probably compile a short list of games to check out.

Well, if you want some non-eroge visual novels I've got a few recomendations.

Sure, there's Brass Restoration (http://yandere.gray7.com/?page_id=50), where you play as a musican who SPOILER ALERT
It's one of those typical "pic one out of a couple of girls" type branching story lines. Pretty good stuff though.
