I'm not sure where else to put this. I'm new here, but definitely not new to Robot Arena 2. I got the game a couple years ago, and just rediscovered it after watching some old Battlebots episodes last night with a few friends. I stumbled across this place after looking for some old mods, and found out that there's still an active community going, not to mention that my old account actually still exists. After looking through the tourneys and stuff, I can tell that I'm going to be pretty lost for a while. However, I do really enjoy the game and would just like someone to help me get into the online community successfully, without making myself look like a complete idiot.
I've looked over DSL mod and that appears to be the most popular and most realistic mod, and is the standard for today's tourneys. I know how to build bots, but I'm not sure about some of the newer features of DSL mod and their effects on the game.
Anyways, I have all of the instant messengers, so I can easily adapt to whatever ya'll might be using here.
Thanks,
runt9

Welocme, lurk around the showcase, and check out the beetle bros site. Stuff like that.

I do have one quick question, and I felt like it was unnecessary to post it in its own topic and clutter this place up...
What exactly are "Smart Zones" and what are they useful for? I've seen them sitting there in my parts bin but I've never used them and have no idea what they actually do.
-
Those are for AI purposes. When the opponent passes through that zone, it activates whatever it's programmed to do (fire, or spin, etc.)

Ah, alright, thanks for clarifying that.
