Yugo built some in the 80's and Chrysler has always built them, and still does.

So, a mouse trap would be a small block, and a rat trap would be a big block?

Yes and no at the same time. But rat traps usually aren't made of wooden block. Instead, they are made of a sheet of metal and have spikes at a side of it and have more powerful springs compared to mouse traps. As a consequence if a car is built with rat traps it will go further.

That looks like a V6 ford compared to a Blown Big Block Chevrolet Tall Deck............I would have to have to build a Rat Trap car.

What's the transmission mechanism exactly ? Just wrappin a string/wire/cord/etc on the rear axle and attach it to the... weapon head of the mousetrap, or is it more complex ?

It's just the string, unless you want to be creative.
