ResettisReplicas/Sonny_Resseti told me to go to it for some reason. I forget if he was showing me where to download the game or if he was telling me that the people in GTM could help me fix a problem.
-
googled robot arena 2
-
Wow, you are fast.
-
I saw the official forums when I was like 7 but then I lost interest for a while. I came back and googles RA2 forums and brought me here. Then I lurked for a while before making a profile.
-
I was young and had my father buy the game for me because I didn't know it was "free" here. Then I had a problem and googled a way to fix it. Wound up here.
-
Was forced against my will to migrate from the RA2 forums
-
story time
Saw a video on youtube.
-
Went looking for RA2 mods and found this place.
-
I just found it one evening, made an account, downloaded the game and here I am now.
-
got ra2 in around dec 08/dec 09, built some bots, game crashed, a few months later in april 09 i reinstalled it, play for a while, in june i saw some youtube videos of DSL and wanted to know where to get, found gtm, ignored it at first since i saw the botm bot and figured you couldnt do that in ra2 (i didn't even know about other attachment points back then) then join in aug 09
-
First time I Found video in YouTube back im 2008 December. Started playing it ever since and joined the forums on May 2009... I think it was at the same time with trumpetguy.
-
I watched some ResettisReplicas videos, think I started to watch just after PMRW started so I watched from there. I kept watching until the end of the tourney I suggested... Oh it's been so long I cant remember what it was called, that one with the original incarnations of robots. I think I watched a little after that but my mind is foggy.
Then I bought the game, figured out what the buttons that turned into hieroglyphs were, made some robots, then tried to get some mods. I came here on a few different occasions not knowing it was the same website. Then I thought I'd hate a crack at the BOTM that was on. I'd never looked at anyone else's showcase so I didn't know the class of building. Then I did something wrong so I needed to make an account after sending in about 6 splashes.
._.
-
i think it was joecb's videos that first mentioned gtm to me. then i looked around for dsl and came across gtm again so then i joined.
-
GK told me about it.
-
Some craaig fella showed me it at the end of 09, lurked for a while and made some bots, then joined.
-
Googled 'Robot Arena 2 download'.
-
Scourge told me about it, then a few months later, I joined to showcase my sh** bots.
-
I can't remember, I lurked around here for about a month before joining though.
-
Hmmm, mostly because of a friend that gave me RA2 (some people here may remember him, and his BOX), and the next day he had new components (mods), and I asked him where did he get them.
He said he just googled RA2 mods, and found them. So I did, and found GTM.
-
I was around the old official forums for months, and I jumped on the GTM band wagon when the ATARI forums went bust, then made an account.
-
I pirated the game, then google for a forum to brag about how awesome I am.
-
Ressetti and Wham.
-
There was a link to Sonny's youtube channel in his signature on Robot Wars Wiki, I discovered the game through that. On one of his videos he chatted to GF93, asking him if he was entering 'Badnik's Replica Wars'. I googled dat and came to GTM from there. Lurked a bit, then joined up.
-
When I Google searched robot arena 2 after I bought the game on Ebay back in late 2008, but I did not join the forum until 2010.
-
Joined here from the original forums, and then proceeded to go from nobody to legend.

Too bad I didn't find a photo of you. It would've fitted in here perfectly.

You know what is funny, clowns.

GTM is a joke, and Jonzu is the punchline.

I came here via the RA2 forums too, but how I discovered that is a pretty interesting story. I had played the 5 Robot Wars games and was disappointed by their limitations; I think I saw RA2 on Ebay occasionally but I ignored it because it wasn't Robot Wars. I'd heard about how the legendary Mauler was too dangerous for Robot Wars, so it got me searching for videos of it. Keep in mind this was 2006, Youtube was in its infant stages, so nothing was there. What I did find was this (http://www.chaosengineering.com/jindex.html). In addition to getting my Mauler fix, I saw the Tornado Mer vs Particle Accelerator fight to which they remarked "reminds me of Robot Arena 2." In this video, Tornado Mer systematically chops off PA's wheels. That got my attention; the wheels don't fall off like that in the RW games. I bought the game swiftly and found the forums while searching for info because my bots sucked at fighting.

I really want to see those clips but I can't open .rm files D:

I'd been aware of the game and community since it was released but never got the game because I couldn't pay for it. Then a few years back, randomly found a download and played it. Been here since.
-
I was looking for a robotic blow job machine to pleasure me and google search results seemed to push robot arena to the top so I clicked on it and was pleasantly disturbed by what I found here. FAP FAP FAP FAP FAP

And the others probably are too if you search for them

Seems like Google brought me here. Not sure why or how.

Welcome back Andy.

Welcome back Andy.
It's not like I've never been muted.

I probably first came to this place after RA-Reborn went down. Those guys had the most comprehensive download database at the time, and when they ended the site, I had no other choice than to come here.
I didn't really start posting here until sometime after the official boards went down.

Pretty sure you didn't even register here until a couple months before me.

Was forced against my will to migrate from the RA2 forums
This pretty much.
Before that though, I looked up aceuplink because aceuplink was plastered in the credits of the game (or those guides to make a robot in the game folder or something) eventually I found Gametechmods later on and the rest is history because I dont want to type more.
Edit: oh naryars still a nobody
-
Bought the game in '11 or '12, found these forums, lurked, lost interest in ra2, regained interest, rediscovered these forums, joined, the end

Thought I should expand on my first post...
Got obsessed with robotics back in '01 during Season 3 of BattleBots. I was like 4 at the time, and my mom was like "you should check out this cool new tv show I found". Watched it religiously till it got cancelled. After that I had to look for the occasional Robot Wars episode they showed on BBC to get my fix. Played with mini Lego battlebots until my uncle gave me my own computer, and from there I searched "BattleBots". This took me to Youtube, and one of the related videos was Alphasim's Robot Wars RA2 video. Watched that and a bunch of other old RA2 vids, and one of them linked to GTM, so I looked and was hooked. Didn't know you could download it for free so I convinced my mom to buy it for me after playing the hour-long demo. After buying it i screwed around with custom parts and AI packs for a few months before joining GTM. Didn't even post for a month after registering, and my first post was about entering a BoTM (where my entry sucked). Since then I've been unable to leave D:

I was introduced to RA2 in a tech ed class in October 2012. I loved it, but I didn't have a way to make my own bots at home. So for my birthday in March 2013, I asked my parents for a copy of RA2. Amazon actually sent a copy of RA1 instead XD. My parents later ordered a different copy of RA2 off of Amazon which arrived in April. I installed the game on my PC, but the UI was screwed up, so I had to find a way to fix it. I didn't find the 1.3 patch on Gametechmods, but I did a bit of research on RA2 and found out that this was the last surviving community for RA2. So on May 12, 2013, I signed up and the rest is history.
-
Wait you used RA2 in a tech ed class? Where?

Wait you used RA2 in a tech ed class? Where?
My middle school offered a tech ed class. The seventh graders have a whole unit dedicated to RA2. Although they only build in Stock and they haven't even unlocked the AI parts...
-
Ok you went to the coolest school ever

You should've downloaded ULTIMATUM and brought it on a flash drive and just kick everyone's ass. An RA2 class in school would be fun as hell though.

Too bad my school is stuck with sh**ty macs :(

Actually, it's not as good as it sounds. Even though we are one of the better schools in the district.
Now that I think about it, we're more "uncool" than "bad", as my school usually has kids that at least make it to the regional level at competitions.
My school only has one floor and has barely updated their equipment since around 2004 (although the shop class just got a set of shiny new laptops and we recently got a bunch of iPads, everything else is outdated). Also, our band program kinda sucks despite the fact that we were invited to play at the WMEA conference 2014 in Yakima. Either we submitted a really damn good audition or everyone else either didn't try or got too cocky and messed it up.
Oh well, at least they're forcing our band up to eleven... from two or three XD

Actually, we had no access to the RA2 files, so bringing ULTIMATUM on a flash drive was out of the question. And back then, I had no idea that there was a whole community dedicated to this game. I'm thinking of making replicas of the three bots I built for the class... and putting them in my Stock showcase XD

On-topic with my story with this site: I found out about GTM as I was following the BBEANS series. I found BBEANS2 rather late and I really wanted to join ever since BBEANS3 was going to signups, but I never got my chance. Later on when not too long after BBEANS5 I lurked more and more about the site, finding out a bit more information about it's history, like older AI packs. Then a few months after BBEANS6 ended, I made my account and about half a year later, I was in and out with it, but still active as a lurker. I think I'm getting a bit out of hand now, so I guess I'll stop now.
-
I first found RA2 when I saw Resetti's Wars, so I started to try to look it up and guess it's name. Then I found out that NerdCubed played it and that's how I found GTM.
