I got the idea from a PM. It asked why did I pick R1885 as my user name. My reson was that its part of my first user name, 1885, for a OTA online game. The reason I added the "R" was due to the game Dawn of War. I was trying to use 1885, but I needed at least one leter in the name. At the time I was thinking of the PS2, the I thoght of the sholder buttons. Theres R1, L1, R2, and L2. So what the hell, why not use R1885? The name then, just stuck. Its my GameTrailers user name. So you know my tail, now I want to hear yours.

Ohh boy here we go...
Ever since I was about 13, Hazmat was my online alias for anything (MSN etc.) I don't know why I chose Hazmat (cool word? IDK (https://gametechmods.com/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif)) but the name stuck. I've only recently changed it to H@zm47 because it looked cooler. I use the same alias for my online play NDS and Wii games. My youtube account is hazmat51 cos someone else stole my name (https://gametechmods.com/forums/images/smilies/icon_mad.gif) the 51 means nothing just had to make it different to hazmat...
That's about it I think.

i used to play runescape (yes i know a crappy game) but anyway, i was introduced to runescape by a friend who suppports chelsea. his name was chelsearule1995 or somethinkg like that and i support man u so i went on runescape and registered an account. when it got to the choose a username i put in man u man but it didnt work so then i put manu man but it didnt work. so i just changed the words around and put man manu. ingenious huh? i used to hate it when my friend called me man manu at school and insisted he called me man man u. but then i kinda got used to the name and use it on a few online accounts. so thats my story. thanks for reading
-
I chose Flying_Chao on Runescape because I wanted a name nobody else had so I wouldn't need to put any numbers at the end. The name just stuck after that.
-
my name's origin came from again, runescape. My username was actually DragonBurn - cos i like dragons. Until one day, my friend and me was chatting and they couldn't remember my username, they had a few guesses, one of them being DragonFire. I then clung onto that name til now.
-
I freaking love MGS3. The Sorrow was in MGS3.
''Nuff said.
-
I didnt actually think about my name too long, because when I joined I tought that I would just get a few building tricks and tips and then disappear, but here I am. If I had used my now normalized nick, it would be 1nsane.
-
ooooooh boy. i cant even remember when i made my name. musta been ever since i got into video games. i think i used it for super smash bros 64 because you need a 4 letter name.
-
Mine is Somebody because I was asking about the downed exchange in the Chatbox before I got a username and decided to have Somebody as my name because I would pick another name later. Then I just decided (because I am horribleat making names and I couldn't think of a good one) to use it.
Also, I was going to start a thread like this soon, but I guess R1885 got to it first. Oh well.
-

I was eating one when I registered.

I had numerous other names (Nagzash on Youtube, but i'd like to change it), but Naryar went in when I wanted to play my famous red half-dragon on a Roleplay forum.
I don't remember exactly the circumstances, but i think that came from Narya, the Fire Ring (one of the Three) in the Lord of the Rings.
I think I'm going to stick with Naryar now. I like it.
-
I'm in the US, but my ancestors were from Sweden & Reier is a Swedish name. =)
-
Because I wanted the people here not to find me in other places online. I'm scattered all over Teh internets...
-
Because my first name is Sergiusz.
-
well, most people reffered to me and my brother as simply "Phlox" (our surname) in primary school (we went to different ones for some reason) but we went to the same grammar school, so his friends always called me "The Barbie Phlox" and it stuck
-
Im trying to figure out to pronounce Phlox. scratching my head.
-
Is it Flocks?

Same with Urjak.
Is it "ErJack", or "YourJack"

how did you come up with your name ACAMS?

Anderson County Automotive Machine Shop
I own, and used to operate an engine rebuilding machine shop before I got this job in the oilfield. My accountant told me to have it back open by the end of the year so I can use it for a tax write-off this year. (I still owe the IRS $9,000 from last year) I plan to build racing engines in my spare time and buy a few more machines for an extra tax write-off. (plus I have been spending $550.00 a month for a building to keep all the machines in, and I bought one back in Feb so I may as well use it)
-
I was wondering that about him. Same with Scrap Daddy. Does it have to do with the robots from Battlebots?
if i remember right his grandpa has a real robotics team called scrap daddy robotics. (or maybe it has his dad? his uncle?)
i could be completely wrong though.

Example: Tinny=Beer in Australia

Old video game from the '80's, SPY HUNTER. (Geez, am I dating myself .....?) Whenever I managed a place in the top ten, I would always put in "SPY" as my initials. "SPY" became "SpyGuy", and the rest, as they say, is history .....

So, A country that is older than the Roman empire copied a country that is 2000 years old. Hmm...
1492 to 2008 = 2000 years
The declaration of independence was signed in 1776. so actually so actually it is only 232 years.
The continent is just as old as the others.
-
good point. i dont know why, but that is slightly funny.
-
Whoops, sorry about the time thing.
We still created you.
-
England is older than the Roman Empire?!
-
Bump - thanks to the link Nar put in DKs thread.
If anybody still has storys about how they got their names, I think they should be put here from now on.
Anyway, I called myself Weirdo because:- I've been called one; the name suits; and its its contradictory, because everyone calls me 'the normal one'. But there's no such thing as 'normal'.
@ Flying_Chao: Um, jah. If you're STILL wondering. Everybody in fact came from Africa, english people, americans, everyone. So yeah, I hope I cleared that up, and ended nearly a year or so of panicing over who created who.
-
England is older than the Roman Empire?!
Ugh, No damn way.
Britain is older than the roman empire.
-
Britain is older than the roman empire.
S32 is more right.
My name came from my name. My name is Craig. People tend to stretch it out. And I was bored of my boring name so I wanted to change it so I chucked the 'a' in that everybody was saying.

Mine's named after myself- Nate F.

Mine came from this:
im up for life and love robot arena 2 so i chose life robot arena2

Where did that other thread go?
Anyways, Jeffery is my actual factual name. Contrary to popular belief, my name is not "Jeffrey". Unlike that spelling, my spelling has three syllables instead of two.
Frezal comes from an ogre I drew in MS Paint at least 100 years ago. I don't know why I named him that. It was only after the fact that I realized that Frezal is an actual name. The handle "frezal" was first used for my hotmail account. I had just drawn the thing when signing up for the hotmail account, so I used its name for the handle. Sort of. Frezal was taken, so I had to go with Frezal2. When signing up for the official Robot Arena forums, I went with Frezal2 as well. After the update to the forum software with the 30x30 avatars, I changed my name to "frezal" without the 2 and with a lower "f".
When I joined here, I don't remember why I chose my real name instead of frezal. Maybe I was just tired of it.
-
Before Redline, I used to be RAMPAGE. But it was taken on a certain browser based game. So I had to come up with something new, and original. Fast.
Redline was probably subconciously taken from the fact I used to love cars. (Now it's just like.)
M203 was another decision based on not being able to get Redline. It came from the grenade launcher, which I found out about on a UT mod called Tactical Ops. M4A2M203. (Or was it M4A1M203? Who cares, it's just a number difference.)

Where did that other thread go?
.
yeah. where did it go? i wouldve just copied and pasted what i said into here.
Where did my thread go?

Well, I created mine shortly after I'd created my YouTube account (RobotwarsKing), and I hadn't learned that it might be a good Idea to have the same nickname for related stuff, so I created this nickname I've got for my account here.
Anyway, I named my account after one of my favourite racers on F-Zero GX, Golden Fox. I also thought the name sounded cool by itself. I then took the last two digits of my birthyear (1993), and there we have it! One crap nickname, fresh off the counter!
-
one of my favourite racers on F-Zero GX, Golden Fox.
Thought so. That's a great game, isn't it?
Anyway, my name comes from the fact that I was reading a comic book when I signed up, and when I couldn't think of a name I looked down at the book and the first thing to catch my eye was a condor. Besides, condors are awesome.
-

Do guys even want to know where I got this name from?
Basically, a friend of mine used it to describe somebody, and i thought it was funny.
Then, when I signed up for X-fire, all the names I was trying were taken, so i used this. Now, I pretty much use it for anything on the internet that I need a user-name for. It might be weird, but who cares?
-
Didn't you use to be Megaterdbomb?
-
JoeBlo is a slang word for "Some Guy" J & B are my initials so I respond straight away if people call me JB,

Bump.
My name comes from the initials of my favourite football (soccer) player, Gary Kelly. He played for Leeds United, the club I support, from 1992 to 2007.
The name I often use on the interweb, Helloher, came from trying to register on a friend's site and failing. That reminds me, I need to tell him again to register here.
-
my name comes from my utube channel, wich is named after a show on my channel, the Sparkey show
made by me and my friend (spaceship studios) wich I named the character sparkey 'cause he is a total idiot

Zog is the name of my robot team in real life, so.... Yeah. If you want to know where that came from, just ask any nursery school teacher (hence the planet 'Zog')
SLIGHTLY OFF-TOPIC: Is there any way you can change your forum name (want to get rid of the 'team' bit)

My worthless retarded username (Radio F Software / RFS) is quite literally simply the name of the development group I belonged to at the time. I adopted "Radio F Software" in 2003 after a personal emergency required me to abandon my old name from 2001-2002. I had no username, but I needed one, so I adopted RFS with the intent to choose a new username "later". Radio F Software just so happened to be the media production group I ran at the time, formerly "**** Radio" (1995 - 1997), then "F Radio" (1997 - 1999), then "Radio F" (1999 - 2003), then "Radio F Software" (2003 - 2006), and finally "RFS Media Productions" (2007 - 2008), the name the group had when it eventually tanked and closed.
"Later" became "five years later" when in September 2008 I officially adopted "Dracophile" as my new username, a name that's creative and has some relevant meaning to me. "Dracophile" directly translates to "dragon lover". You can apply a sexual connotation to it if you wish and still be mostly correct in your assumptions, although the sexual side of it was not intended when I chose the nickname. My friends called me "dracophile" off and on for a while as a playful insult until I finally adopted it.
Words cannot really describe how much I hate the username RFS and everything that is tied to it. The entire duration of my life that I used that stupid name is an entire chunk of time that I am deeply ashamed of because I was being someone I wasn't. Adopting "Dracophile" was my way to break those chains once and for all and go back to the things I once enjoyed before I became RFS. I retained my username here mostly so that people would know who I am because I don't post very often.
So yeah. Nothing special about the story behind my name, just the fact that I loathe it.
-
abandon my old name from 2001-2002.
Care to share in detail what happened, or is it THAT personal?

LOL I looked up Madiaba. XD
It's pretty much disco for the Congo. :P
Well, Reier, that's not the primary meaning of 'madiaba', but secondary.
Here's a few hints (for those bilinguists out there):
French: fesse/crosse (may be better slang words I don't know)
German: hinternbacke/pobacke
Latin: clunis, natis
Greek: γλουτoς (gluts), πυγη (puga)
P.I.E: klounis(s), pouga(pl) (Note: the concept of a P.I.E. is highly conjectural)
Hebrew: תַחַת -under(parts), אָחוֹר -back(side), שֵׁת -'shat' (hehe- yea, just what you think)
Akkadian: puku
Sumerian: dur
I'm not black, but my wife is Kenyan and she grew up speaking English and ki-Swahili.
The dance craze thing in the Congo, I'd never heard of; but it's not unlike the dance/descriptive term used here 'booty' (slangese for buttocks).
A friend (biologist) and I were discussing inter- and intra-departmental dynamics of the Chairs (heads) of each department at ******* University, and how they often persue a self-centered, self-promotional protocol, (playing political games), than totally academic, factual scholarship. We called them 'duffers' because that's what they did (nothing) when certain academic facts called for paradigm shifts, but they would not upset the 'status quo'. When I learned the word 'madiaba' we began using it as a 'code word' for people who did not responsibly report facts, but sat on their 'madiaba' doing nothing to make sure they would keep their position through politically correct pseudo-congeniality.
So when I was exposed to RA2 (I like mechanical stuff), and began hacking into py coding, I found the RA2 official website and GTM and used Madiaba as my user name.
-
German: hinternbacke/pobacke
that`s what your name means? Oo

what? Translation please Thy

COOL STORY BRO
-
My name is Gareth. My mates and brother/sisters sometimes call me Gaz. When I signed up for windows live I used Gazea. Then that kinda stuck and I use it everywhere. I think it sounds kinda cool...
But people also know me as "the geek" because I'm smart and have glasses... Maybe I should change my name. :P
-
EDIT: This was supposed to be an edit... But I'm more like making this post! What happened to all the text inside it?
Nevermind, it's gone... o.O
-
I wanted to be known for my bot Shish-Kabot. My team name (Cookin With Gas) doesnt really work well for a user name so I used Shish-Kabot.
-
My Sensai gave me my name. He gave me a list of people to kill and told me to bring their heads back on a silver platter. Viper for being as quick and lethal as a Gaboon Viper and 89 for the number of heads I brought back to him  .
It's "Sensei" not "Sensai"
I used to register some forums as Corpse Razer. Corpse for the band Cannibal Corpse, and Razer for... I think you should know why. :P

ontopic: first i just used a different name only somewhat only played runescape. everything kept going wrong on my account so i wanted to make a new one with a new name. i heard a song played from my CD, looked on the box for how it was called. and that is how i got to use the name Powerrave.
when i saw it i just thought it would work well as username, and i was right. been using that name for over 6 years now =P
-
Probably obvious that mine spawned from that little green imp from Star Wars, but a lot of people are thrown for a loop when they find out i'm not actually a Star Wars geek. Granted, i've watched them all (grew up in the 80s, didn't have a choice), and I enjoyed them, but Yoda is the one and only character that i geek out about.
The 9726 spawned from a band i was in. We were at practice, and the song we were about to play starts with a count..1, 2, 3, 4. Our drummer was being a loon that day and refused to count. Our guitarist, ever the wiseass, said "Fine, i'll count...9, 7, 2, 6" For some reason, it stuck in my head.

The really interesting thing is that I frankly have no idea where my username came from. It originated back in my earlier days (probably 10-11 years old), when Runescape was the popular thing to do at school. Nothing I could think of for a username would work without tacking numbers on the end, I somehow came up with Inplabth and it stuck. Nothing I have ever signed up for has has the username Inplabth used.
-

LOL if you look closly, they kind of have the shape of Envys body all together. Well, I thought it was another bot LIKE him at first.

My name is from Mr. Resetti, the Animal Crossing character that comes in every time you reset the game, and chews you out for it. If you reset enough times, you get to find out his first name, which is Sonny.

I once builded a bot in RA2 (a robot combat video game) and needed a name for that super extreme overpowered great robot.
I named it Thyrus.
then I played against Lil Dog and I lost.
