16's considered adult in most establishments, at least over in the UK. 16's also the legal age for purchasing cigarettes, joining the military, and is also the age of consent.

Over here it's 18 for the first, 17 (I think, not sure) for the second and 16 for the third unless I was lied to. Also Nevada has legalized prostitution, not that it matters.
