Best Youtube Format?
« on: May 25, 2011, 09:41:27 PM »
I'm having trouble uploading videos in a good format. They always look like sh**.

These are the formats I can export my video with-

Also, If I'm downloading a Youtube video from a site, should I keep the format in the same resolution (it still looks terrible)?

None of the options in your picture (that weren't grayed out) fit any of Youtube's sizes.  When an uploaded video doesn't fit at least one Youtube's resolutions, it's gonna look like sh**.

Youtube's Resolutions:
  • 240p - (320 x 240)  (mobile, so small it usually looks like sh** anyway)
  • 360p - (480 x 360)  (standard size player)
  • 480p - (640 x 480)  (fullsize player)
  • 720p - (1280 x 720)  (HD/fullscreen)
  • 1080p - (1920 x 1080)  (HD/fullscreen)

I usually go for 720p, most computer monitors aren't even big enough for 1080p.

Should I use a different video editor?

Probably.

As far as video editors go, there aren't any good free ones (that I know of).
Your best bet would be to "acquire" Sony Vegas (it works great for pcs but idk anything about it for mac).

I use imovie, but I did get Final Cut Express 4. It's pretty difficult to use.

Adobe Premiere is a good mac product.

EDIT: final cut is good too. It takes a bit to get used to but there way more options.
You got my vote for RA2 Wizard. Always and forever.
