Yeah, same with me. By now I've actually killed most of the negative aspects of Asperger's syndrome. I used to talk to myself all the time but I've stopped, used to get real stressed about getting in trouble but I've stopped, used to have a real sense of depression, had minor anger problems and many other things. They're all gone thanks to some self training and common sense injected over a 1.5 year period (anti NFX/Serge guard in place). I remain sort of empathic and all that stuff so I'm happy.

I've managed to kill off most of the negative aspects of Aspergers' as well, but maybe I gave myself a bit too much common sense. Or gave myself common sense in odd places. I'm a bit curious about this "Anti NFX/Serge Guard" you have, perhaps you could explain a bit further on how it works? =P

Minor mental disorder is just nonsense made up to rip money off from obnoxious women.  Don't believe me?  Go through history of psychology from Freudian to modern counseling.  It's just some old grumpy people constantly telling you how everything about you is wrong.  And look, if your therapist is what's they consider normal, do you really want to be like them?  Once they have to treat real disorders like PTSD, they fell flat on their face.

Then we have drugs.....  And yeah anyone who smoke a joint knows that feel good drugs work.  It doesn't mean being intoxicated is the state of a normal mind.

Put in another way, if you can stay in school/maintain a job, you don't have problems.

Communism is a system that can't work on a larger scale. Somebody will still get more power, and when that happens, Soviet Russia happens. People starve, the market is empty of everyday products, the national debt grows. Not fun.

Yeah pretty much, it's an ideological system, only gorbachevs communism could have worked IMO.

That is an oversimplification. Mental disorders (those that affect someones quality of life) are very real. I honestly don't know what you mean by "minor."

I don't doubt some people are crazy.  The made up nonsense is when people tell you you have a "minor" or "mild" case of a disorder and needed "therapy" or "counseling", when you were living your day to day life just fine all along.

Look at it this way, there are some people who can't stop crying and think about how worthless they are in their bed, I can see why those people needed Prozac.  Even then functionality should not be equated with normality, as normality implies some kind of objective state of values/beliefs that everyone must strive for.

The moment we stop trying to "normalize" people and recognize that psychiatric drugs are used for "functional" purposes, the line between recreational and psychiatric drugs becomes meaningless.  Drugs should be judged based on their effects.

With the bad press aside, marijuana works wonders as an anti depressant/anti anxiety/pain relief.

I'm gonna go with 123 on this one as well. Not having personally tried marijuana myself, but he does make a very good point. Just because it's NORMAL to assume that pharmaceutical drugs like prozac are good and recreational drugs like marijuana are bad, kinda subconsciously negates the fact that they both have more or less the same effect on people.

Anyways, drugs in general can be considered as bad because they are mostly shackles (Yes, I'm talking of alcohol as well, even if I drink some). Unless you can't control yourself without special drugs of course, but then it's a "necessary evil" and needs to be fixed.

I like intellectual rants. It's fun to confuse narrow-minded people. =D

I believe Nar's argument does hold in some cases, but then the line between exaggerating your problems and genuinely having severe issues can become incredibly blurred very quickly. And then there's the purely subjective view of what constitutes being uncontrollable. In theory, I think it's a good idea, but in practice, I don't think it'd hold up in modern society.
