Sorry, most of their non translated shows are just as retarded (example: Harems).  So this doesn't hold.

Harem aren't supposed to be very intelligent plots... they're just supposed to be fun. I enjoyed watching Love Hina, as an example, because of the slapstick mostly.

That's the point.  It's silly to expect Naruto or Bleach to have very intelligent plot.  Shonen authors are working on time constrain to target hyperactive kids.  Whatever dumbing down that results has nothing to do with "Americans".

Though I personally don't like neither shonen nor heram.
