Biggest regrets: Not playing Hockey and Football in high school. I was good at hockey when i was a kid. And I mean REALLY good. Shame I didn't continue it. I never played HS football because I have arthritis in my knees which sometimes causes my kneecaps to pop out of their groove and collapse when I run.

I play flag football in college though.

Used to garden tractor pull.

I am also pit crew for my brother's race car.

And don't try to give me that bullsh** that those aren't sports... They are deemed motorsports.

They're not sports.

Sports have never really been my thing. They're fun to play, but people take them WAY too seriously. There's too much focus on winning (at all costs), and not enough on just having fun.

They are deemed motorsports.
They're not sports.

Actually, they are considered a sport.

A sport is considered a physical activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often engaged in competitively. As well as, an activity involving physical exertion and skill that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often undertaken competitively.

Motorsports in their own right are also considered sports.

If you want to consider RA2 a sport since it is governed by a set of rules, then yes.

Yeah. My school neighborhood city is full of Morons just like that. The only kid I know who has some talent is this kid who I'm actually good friends with

He's the one in the lead, and ended up the second fastest kid in the nation in 06 and EVERYONE want to be like him. They'll tell him to his face they're faster, but when he challenges them to a race, they're "tired."

Actually, they are considered a sport.
Yeah, and ****tards consider homeopathy a legitimate form of medicine. Just because many people believe the same thing, that doesn't mean they're correct.

Why does tractor pulling have to be a sport in order to be a legitimate activity? Why must you label yourself as an athlete in order to obtain a sense of self worth?

In high school, I received varsity letters for pep band, Knowledge Bowl, and math team. I laughed at all of it. Sure, those activities were hard, but they're not sports. I'm in no way an athlete, and I don't need to be labelled as one in order to feel good about participating in things I enjoy.

They are not. Debate leagues certainly can help train your eloquency skillz (well as long as it doesn't becomes a shouting contest). Geography bee trains memory and knowledge.

They are just means not ends, of course, but they are useful tools for training your skills.

Frezal you're correct. However it does differ dependent on person to person, it's just the general acceptation by most people that it is considered a sport in it's own right. Some people might consider you an athlete for those activities, some might, it really depends on who you talk to. Everyone is different.

It's a sport somewhere...all I'm saying is the world is different, everyone has their own way of thinking. But, the topic of discussion was changed to *Physical* Sports, therefore this argument shouldn't have taken place anyway. We all just accept the standards of each other. What you may consider a sport, I may not, what I may consider a sport, you may not. We leave it at that.

Hmm... physical sports, eh?

Umm... sprinting (silver medal in men's relay), basketball (although this path was hindered due to the fact I wear thick glasses), softball (school field's bumpy so this was pointless as well), badminton (had a fun time back then), ping pong (too much power >.<).

I would've included robotics as well, since THE PARTS WERE SO FREAKING HEAVY AND WE HAD NO HEAVY-DUTY TOOLS (sprained my arm once when I tried to carry the control board system). x_x

At school I was considered decent at hockey, decent at tennis, apparently a 'brilliant' defender in football. I also participted in the west wiltshire school rugby 7s tournament. Admittedly, when I was put in my first match and saw that the people I was to be tackling were twice the size of me, I chickened out from tackling (so me being there was pointless). If it was now I wouldn't have cared much and just tackled them for the satisfaction of seeing them on the floor. Though apparently in school matches I was a good hooker. xD

Good question, you'd have to ask a million people the same question if you truly are wondering that. I don't know why we use words at all, why don't we all just use sign language? But then again, who said sign language didn't have the same kind of effect as words? I don't know, I'm not *god*

An assload of sports bring truly nothing to the practitioner. What's the end point of running after a ball ? You learn how to run after a ball, yeah alright, it makes your body stronger, but how IS running after a ball useful in life's many challenges ?

Personally I do karate. More than a sport, 'tis an art. As most people can guess here, I don't agree with a good part of the bushido-inspired honor code, but it makes you stronger, more confident and more importantly it trains an moderately useful skill.

Good point, but running after a ball can teach you how to run from the police, or how to run from your ex-girlfriend who is sick of you not paying child support so she picks up the frying pan and chases you down the apartment complex. Instances like this.
