Title: AIing a steerable rammer without adjusting turnspeed.
Post by: Redalert on May 01, 2019, 09:03:06 AM
Here's a handy tip for AIing a bot for newbies- Ever encounter a time when you AI a rammer and it spins too fast when it turns?
Here's a way to fix that problem. It can be done all in-game, making it really easy to do.

For 2WD rammers.

wire the forward/backward analog normaly.
...but when it comes to the Left/Right analog, wire only one motor.

Left- right motor turns clockwise
Right- left motor rotates counterclockwise.

for 4-6 wheeled rammers.

wire only the front motors

test in the AI, or by your controls, and you'll realize how easy it gets to steer the rammer!

It's for newbies. Especially those who don't know a lot about AIing.

For me I just take existing AI lines, replace the name in the binding and tweak around with the numbers until satisfaction

I do most of the preparations in-game. I also try to use the simplest bindings possible (but the ones that still work 100%), so I can AI multiple bots.
