Deathmatch 4 - SBV
« on: June 07, 2019, 01:57:46 PM »

Now that I finally got my PC back up for now, I can get this going.  Recording will have to take some time, so I'll make sure to find some time for that.  For those with Alternate Configurations or Weapons, I'll PM details to you eventually.  Does give you some time for predictions or bot evaluations so, maybe it's a benefit.

Bot opinions:

Vespin Mk 2: While externally not much different, there is likely a lot of internal differences for it to maybe retain the title
Not Copyright: The non-centred drum is irritating, but for a "stock" DSL bot it's okay
Franken: It'll be interesting to see how well that weapon synergy works, but speaking from experience that those sides are open to a hurting. Also exposed burst
Oractraz Evo: Clean and looks sturdy
Top Hat: Not often do we see white top hats, but then again we also don't often see people using ripping teeth instead of "the meta" so it's pretty good there
Sad Slapper: This and Orcatraz are the biggest threats to Vespin's chances, so it might not be so sad soon
Craplectric 2: The banana is no longer ripe, and it has been more refined this time
Jaguar: Probably the best-looking bot I've made that isn't in the Saturnalia line
Supersonic: Box. With the other bots in this heat this one sticks out like a sore thumb
SBD: Would be better if the minion disc was skinned, otherwise very clean
Cujo 2: Maneater: While the name doesn't entirely match the colour scheme, it does look better than just a generic Tombclone
Pike: A beautiful-looking machine that might be doomed in such a spinner-heavy heat
DJX: Vengeance Remix: A monumental improvement from Ring! Ring! that does look lovely
Bored Again: A very narrow Tombclone
Break You Down: Frenzy hammer not often seen, and the rest for the hammer is a nice touch, but the chassis design and exposed motor are off to me
Proximus: A lovely undercutter
Tree Hugger: What a beautiful axebot from Neon
Coal Miner: It looks like something you'd see in classic Robot Wars or Banter Wars, which is fun to see
Legacy: The issues with the previous version have been mended and it looks sleek, but I reckon those wedges aren't hinged (they look that way at least)
Sarin: Looks clean, and angled wheelguards are quite nice
Gecko: Boxy but clean. Favourite module is probably the flipper, least favourite being the spinner
Distributor: Looks okay, but it is very bare which is a worry
Slightly M.A.D.: Still keeps to the theme and looks okay, but exposed bursts aren't exactly fun
Tearaway: Who remembers that great Vita game? Anyway a nice clean standard drumbot
Duality: Gemini but only one bot. Also I apologise for the 4 small Typhoons
The Machine: Breaker Box but squashed to the point its scoop doesn't work
Cruor: Standard RA2 undercutter really, not much else to say
Solar Storm 4: The previous champ is back and still looks clean
Pure Abuse. Exposed flats with frail supports. Aside from that I guess it's okay
Kopter: A beautiful tribar spinner? How does he manage it?
Binary Star Systems: Despite going from a horizontal pair to a vertical pair they retain their beauty quite nicely
Critical Mach II: A nice looking flipper from Robo
Kirin3: Honestly do not like this one, it's just a mess really. Much prefer the Kirin from OW3's World Champs
V2: A nice treaded robot here. Shame that the weapon isn't 100% centred, but it's as centred as no BFE can allow, and that's quite honourable
Murderous Beetrute: Is it wrong that this bot looks adorable to me? Doomed, but adorable
Earth, Wind & Fire: From tiny vert of Legacy to big "f' off" vert of this thing, it's quite fun to watch
Catalyst: As clean as it was before really, not much else to say
Tsuihou: Ceros 2 with a cyan flipper. Not an intentional reference I don't think but it's nice all the same
Pandrumonium: Pretty decent eggbeater bot, kinda standard though
Veorra: *insert that F3 meme here*
Puxxgear: Not as lovely as the Snowcogs, but still a nice-looking shell spinner
Arctic Storm Mini: Took me a while to realise what its weapon is, but it reminds me of Wedge of Doom, and that's fun
Pulse 3: BlueFlatline
Neon Light: Looks nice and clean of a full-body drum
Archon: Clean albeit regular vert. But what is the alternate weapon setup?
Koto: A nice clean clampbot
Queen Bee II: Another standard vert with the "black and X" colouration. Though I still like it
Gatecrash: And finally a robot that reminds me of Pulsar from Series 8, so obviously this gets bonus points in my book

Overall we have a lot of vertical spinners, but most of the roster looks very nice

Opinions:

Vespin Mk 2: Happy I actually made this into a proper CW instead of downgrading the Heavyweight so hope it does decently
Not Copyright: It's a basic design so don't really have a strong opinion
Franken: Exposed bursts look a bit odd but interesting to see how an axe/saw combo fairs
Oractraz Evo: Tidy design
Top Hat: Stupdily simple but I like it. Plus #tophatgang
Sad Slapper: Being from Essex there are a lot of sad slappers around here, but this one actually looks good
Craplectric 2: Kix's build style is probably my favourite so this I like
Jaguar: Nice colour scheme, clean design too
Supersonic: Boxy vert, not much more can be said really.
SBD: It's a tiny S3
Cujo 2: Maneater: Simple design with decent wheelguards, though I reckon everyone is too busy counting the teeth on the disc to notice
Pike: Cleanest robot in it's heat, shame about the spinner lineup
DJX: Vengeance Remix: Nice to see Sickle's bots getting cleaner with every entry
Bored Again: The robot definition of a girl with a massive chest but nothing at the back
Break You Down: Simple design, but the exposed chassis means when it innevitably faces a spinner it will struggle.
Proximus: Another clean build
Tree Hugger: Nice skinwork and general overall design
Coal Miner: Literally the stock Coal Miner, but a fun entry never goes amiss
Legacy: Different...but looks cool.
Sarin: Nice colour scheme and general clean design
Gecko: Love how clean it is, but a gutrip from a vert is innevitable with an axe which is sad
Distributor: Looks wise it's ok, but can imagine it will be a havoc bomb when recording
Slightly M.A.D.: Another Kix build so nothing bad to say. Clean as hell.
Tearaway: I like a good drumbot...this looks to be just that
Duality: Quite a boxy design but clean
The Machine: Reminds me of one of Code's CAD robots
Cruor: Basic but should perform decently
Solar Storm 4: Same as above
Pure Abuse. Nice design, screaming for a skin on the chassis tho instead of pure white
Kopter: Me gusta
Binary Star Systems: Damn they are niceeeeee
Critical Mach II: Nothing really special, but it might be able to win a couple of battles
Kirin3: Bit messy, but the user is relatively new so guess it's a case of "everyone starts somewhere"
V2: Love this design, with all the DSC packs it's rare you see an industrial looking robot
Murderous Beetrute: Got a cute face...tho it will be sad if the face got slapped by a typhoon tooth
Earth, Wind & Fire: I have mixed opinions. I like the overall design but I think doing what Killer did with bars looks less flimsy than the disc
Catalyst: Clean design, interesting drum choice
Tsuihou: Basic shape that makes up for the vanilla look with good weapon power, and you gotta love a robot that can OOTA another
Pandrumonium: Standard drum shape, but nice skin and eggbeater setup
Veorra: Unironically like the robot, even if people do moan about 4 larges on a vert.
Puxxgear: Genuinely looking forward to this heat to see how a shell fairs without the like 6 typhoon teeth
Arctic Storm Mini: The HW version is decent, so hoping the CW version does well too
Pulse 3: Flatterline. Looks clean.
Neon Light: Really like this, probably the best looking Barberous style HW that I've seen so far.
Archon: Clean design, just hope the wedgelets do their job otherwise the disc won't be used much
Koto: Love how clean and simple it is, the little things like the skin on the side really help with a robot like this
Queen Bee II: Basic but should perform well
Gatecrash: Looks like Pulsar with a thinner drum. Looks alright.

I would be that guy to hate on the amount of typhoon spinners are in the tournament but genuinely some of the best looking robots are spinners. The axebots all looked nice too but worry about how they will fair. I'm not as confident this time round but I'm not as fussed with the result as I'm happy purely from the fact my entry this time is cleaner.

Let's hope this tournament goes well and good luck to anyone in it.

I don't think I've ever seen you give advice before

And tbf, Super gave advice even if its in a callous way. For example, he is correct that your LED spam doesn't hide your messy extenderwork, or your exposed flat
Wasnt attempting to hide anything, because some people dont like the spare/extra weight left on a bot, i added some LEDS to consume some weight. I Dont know what he means by Messy extender work.

Oof at calling Puxxgear CAD bot, considering Bild doesn't do and is probably not interested in outright ARC style CAD at all. Only CAD for RA2 custom components for now
