Title: RC car recall
Post by: Wolfsbane on April 28, 2011, 12:26:48 PM
DSL MW (up to 399.1)
16 entrants, will save spots, but you have to ask first, reservations last 2 days
all the bots have to look like cars.
Must have a chassis like a car
must have 4 wheels, 2 of which have to be on car steering
I can AI, but i'm realitivly new at it, so if you can, send your own AI.
Arena is a reskined Combat Arena.
Cheatbot2 allowed ONLY IF it makes it look more like it.
no BFE OR AAM.
Loser's Bracket
no custom components
correct me if i should fix these

TBH, mabye you should stick around a bit more before starting a tourney, you're quite new here
No offence meant, just a suggestion

There are many more rules you need to cover, you haven't even told us wether its Stock or DSL :P

I think a slightly more original idea would be for every robot to need car steering, like a Rc car :P

Or just make cars with weapons on. That'd be cool.

do you think this is a majority vote, and we should keep it this way?

If "cars" wins (I didn't vote for it but if it does) here are some rules to consider adding.  You've got to have strict design rules otherwise you'll get "cars" that are just Neglected Waterbug with some Lamborghini stickers:

-Must have 4 wheels and one pair of wheels on a car motor
-Body must resemble a car chassis
-Must have ground clearance of at least a speed bump (We can think of an RA2 equivalent later)

Why? My car doesnt have the clearance of a Speed bump :P

The idea came from an episode of Top Gear where they had the Stig do a lap in some kind of supercar, and then they wouldn't add it to the leaderboard because the car was too low to handle a speed bump

maybe the speed bump limit could be up to 1 1/2 on the  measurement guilde on a 90 degree angle baseplate anchor

Ground clearance as an upside down baseplate anchor with a poly extender mounted on it using side AP?

I was thinking more along the lines of using an object in the Test Garage or one of the arenas.  The Cinderblock is too tall, maybe there's something else?

Don't put car steering in the rules, its just too awkward to use

That's the point, otherwise it's just a generic pick-a-class torunament.

how about we make the speed bump limit having to make the ramps in  the testing garage with minimal speed?
