FOTEPX's Beetleweight Championship
« on: February 20, 2010, 09:43:02 AM »
Hey guys, I'm deciding to do a Beetleweight championship. Anybody can enter, and I might actually enter a few bots or two.
Rules:
STRICTLY no more than 175kg
No Purpose Havok Explosions used for damage
No Blending items with other items (Putting batteries or weapons in the same connection point or inside each-other)

And that's it! You can go ahead and enter your robots any time you want, but the end of accepting robots is 1st April.

I really do think we need restrictions on who can start tournaments, cos people (no offense FOTEPX - I'm sure you're a nice enough guy :P) are just coming along left right and center and starting tournaments and we don't even know them.

I just spent 40 mins working with                                                                                                                   TEamXtreemer on revising his whole tournament as a BW one

he said you were goign to do some AI work for him

my suggestion to the both of you is to work together on the one tournament rather then 2

Ok, this is how you treat a newcomer!?

Everywhere I turn, there is  kind way of trying to annoy me. I go to antweight, uplaod a bot, say it's good, and i get loads of things basically saying i fail. Now that I have started a Beetleweight tournament, people are annoyed that "everybody" is starting a competition!!!

Yeah, cause 2 people is a lot.

Oh yeah, i'm following all the rules. If this is blocked, then the Mods are unfair.

PS: I taught him how to AI now, so it doesnt matter...

I apologize, I guess times are changing (Hell, I've only been here a year) but it's usually been the more experienced members who run tournaments, while general members enter and showcase their bots, again I apologize, but we need to be able to know you will carry the tournament out, if that makes any sense.

Ok, i understand, but I really don't care. Just cause I haven't been here long doesn't mean i'm a pathetic N00B. Ok?

Look, you do need to start up showcases, and post a lot more before you start a tournament. We're not trying to disrespect you, but you do need to know that a lot of us are a whole ton better than you at building bots and are trying to advise you in the GTM way. I knew that you don't just come on here and start a tourney straight away. I started one when I had around 70 posts. And also, your bot does fail because it's basically a box with no armour and an underpowered weapon. You need less chassis, more armour (armour plates and PA skirts) for your bots, so then they are stronger yet lighter.

The problem is that you are new here, so we do not know if you have the skill and knowledge to run a tournament, and first to pull off correct rules for it.

There has already been ass loads of newbies like you trying to get a tournament working with their first posts.

A lot have failed, a few succeeded. Now can you do it ?

I am a very nice person, devote hours and hours of my time to helping others on this forum, dont forget we are here for the good of the community. not to be an ass pain.

your rules are far to vague and you have skipped things like format, how many entries, arena, version of the game and much more.

3 rules it no where near what you will need, your diving into the deep end here.. starting smaller is heavily recommended.

Fair enough, you may not be a pathetic n00b, but if you'd have been here over the past few months, you would probably understand that we get more than our fair share of pathetic n00bs and we just don't know who to trust.
Sorry XD

I feel like I can do it. I have had experience on Fourms (about 1 and a half years) and RA2 experience (3 Months) So I think, if i'm lucky, i might be able to pull this off.

Alright.

And it's more a question of skill than a question of luck... what you should do is coming off with a clear an complete rule system for your tournament so you can impress JoeBlo & ACAMS (the last one is far more difficult BTW) and to get your tournament allowed and started.

I understand, but really, there are only a few rules, and they are on the first post. I want this tournament to not be full of pathetic restrictions that make all the robots allmost identical.
