I guess but I'd really prefer something original.

I like this idea of how the secret judges will determine if it's IRL or not. I plan on entering this thing.

Edit: Also Craaig, out of curiosity, would you allow interchangeable weapons in this tourney?

OR you can build something really cool and enter that rather than something pushing the boundaries :)

Well entering a joke bot in a small tournament is a stupid thing to do. If he actually puts effort into a non-jokebot and enters it, I'll have no problem. Flaming wasn't my intention.

Jokebots are actually banned in the rules, judges can reject any wasted-entry bots.

Would Bad Wedge Blues fall into that category?

I don't know, that's the judge's decision. And why risk it if you're worried about it being interpreted as that? Enter something you know will get accepted. ;)

Have fun getting like 2 entries, IRL Regulations are ridiculously restrictive without the need of assholy judges

Thanks for your vote of confidence. Personally I know this tournament will fill. It's encouraging people to build IRL as truly IRL and not sub-DSL-S, but if that's not your thing then whatever, don't enter. I know a lot of people are actually happy about the increased restrictions after lots of really not very IRL bots sneaking into tournaments recently in the name of trying to win - the judges won't be rejecting true IRL bots.

well thing is that you enter a tourney, which means that you may at least a little bit win, which mean slight efficiency increasing, problem is as soon as a bot show signs of slight effenciency focusing, even if the bot itself it's perfectly valid, they'll ban it and classify it as cheap, gay, non-IRL

They would if they were awful judges instructed to do that. But they're not. All their decisions go through me, and I have told them to approve serious, actually IRL bots, and any rejections must be given a reason.

People keep improving the efficiency of their IRL bots to a point they're not IRL and they're only doing it to win. I make bots that I like the look of, and that I think WOULD and COULD be built IRL, and I enter them just to see them in action. Who cares who wins? IRL is almost an artbot format in my eyes.

Basically, my point stands - if you don't like the premise, don't enter. I'm trying to make a tournament of truly IRL bots, for fun.

You shouldn't be focusing on efficiency. You should be focusing on functionality- then looks, and only then efficiency. If you want to do efficiency, that's what standard is for.

tl;dr you do IRL wrong.

well the point of an tourney IRL or standard is winning, which means effenciency even if it's a tiny bit, it's UNAVOIDABLE if you want to win a tourney, now effeciency should not compromise realism or functionality, obviously
