SIGNUPS CLOSED
Hey guys, seeming as I've finally got some free time to come back onto the forums and stuff, just thought of an interesting idea for a tournament, and I hope that you will find it interesting too.
- This tournament will be called "Blades of Glory" and unsurprisingly;
will be held in the DSL Blade Arena with hazards on. I have reskinned this to add a bit of pinache.
- 3 minute time limit
- It will be DSL 2.1 STANDARD REALISTIC (and only components from dsl 2.1 are allowed, not other component packs or AI parts)
-Weightclass MW
-Can be any type of weapon
(As long as it doesn't break standard realistic rules)
-No Clusterbots allowed (Sorry! Just can't have clusters in 4 way melees XD)
- No Cheatbot2, AI parts, Narmour, BFE, AAM, Thyrus Glitch, ZeroG, Text Editing or any other out-of-game modification are allowed, but if you want a specific line of code in the bindings, as long as it isn't ridiculous, I will allow it. NO GLITCHED PARTS ALLOWED.
-16 entrants and no wildcard
-If your bot havoks, there will be a restart. (unless the havok is minor and doesn't really affect the battle too much) If your bot havoks 2 times during the tournament, however, it will be disqualified, and randomly replaced (if necessary) with another bot, or the other competitor (if in single deathmatch at the time) will automatically qualify. If this does happen to your bots, I am more than happy to post video evidence of the havoking, if you want me to. If I do have to pick a random robot, I will use a program called "Name Generator" online to determine the robot. (I will also include videos of this result if this happens.)
-Once your bot is sent, you will not be allowed to modify it in any way, so be sure to be completely finished before sending them. Also note that your bot cannot be entered until I have received and accepted it. I will signify if there is a problem with your bot and will give you the chance to try and edit the bot as long as I receive it fairly quickly. I will be accepting sign-ups for about 3 weeks minimum after this thread goes into sign-ups, if not all entries are filled by then, I will extend it by another two weeks and start to allow multi-entries.
-I WILL be competing, though I probably don't stand a chance, with "The Iceman"
-There probably will not be a big prize, unfortunately, but the winner of this will be eligible for two entries into my next tournament (so they have a better chance of winning it). As I won't allow multi-entries from anyone in my next one except the winner of this here tournament.
-I will be recording battles using camstudio (or simular programs dependant on if Camstudio wants to work with me or not :D)
-My AIing is limited, so I would prefer that you AI your bots yourself, but if you REALLY cannot AI then I can for you.
-Here's the interesting part:
-Wins and losses are scored with points. these points are determined by the way a bot wins:
-Loss: 1 point
-Draw (which I don't expect happening): 2 points
-Win by Judges: 3 points - (I will be Judging Based on Style, Control, Damage, Aggression (Cliché) and use of the blade)
*NOTE - My buddy senstro has volunteered to judge as well, so that it is fair.
-Win by immobilisation: 4 points
-Win by OOTA: 4 points
-Win by destroying of control board: 5 points
-Wins involving the blade in the center adds 2 points to your win score. For example, if a bot pushes another into the blade and destroys it, it will be awarded 7 points (5 for destruction + 2 for blades = 7)
-There will be 4 groups of 4 (each robot shall face one another in a group), and the two highest scoring bots from each will progress. (In the event of a tie there will be a playoff) The lowest scoring bots (and third highest) are eliminated. The 8 winners (from the group stages) will compete in two 4 way melees, the top two of both go through. Those 4 shall compete in a 4 way melee, the two losers compete against each other in a 2 way melee, (likewise the winners). The loser of the loser's melee is placed 4th. The winner of the losers' melee goes through to face the loser of the winners' melee. Whoever wins is placed 2nd, whoever loses is 3rd. The winner of the winner's melee is placed 1st and is the champion.
I know it sounds complicated, but to help you grasp the concept, it is similar to Alphasims "All or nothing bot wars", but with group and knockout, rather than just knockout. I think it will be quite unpredictable with the scoring system, and I just wanted to know if anyone thought this is a good idea and may want to sign up if it gets to that stage.
