So I took my lil bros bot and made it better:

Welcome to the forums, dude. =)

Y'know, for a first bot, that really isn't too bad. What you could try is using a Reverse RAD (Reversible Angle) instead of a Standard one on the left, so it doesn't stick out like that. And try to have an even number of weapons on each disc, so three each might work fine. I'm impressed.

Haha, forgot about the reverse RAD. >)> I also thought 3 would make the discs un-even. Gaz has been helping me quite a bit and I'm gonna be helping him make a load of teams for RA2INBOW.

@Mr. AwesumSauce - Thanks. :)

I'm sure Geice did something like that with 4 Razors per disc. Not sure if it was snapper enhanced though.

That made me lol.

Yeah, he is ma lil bro. The bot is just tall enough to fit a nifty in.

Anyways, here you go. Re-built with the anchor.

No more comments? Is that because it's good?

Anyways, here's a bot that I built after seeing a bot that Geice made:

I haven't been able to test it as my RA2 crashes whenever I try to do a match...

I can't tell what most of it is because of the skins...

Utterly insane.

I'd swap the Mower Blades for Ramplates, personally, and I'd think that the irons would obstruct an opponent from getting up to the piston.
Title: Re: Zephyr's showcase
Post by: The Zephyr on August 15, 2011, 02:03:02 PM
On the front there are 2 mower blades and a ram plate. Then there's some iron spikes and a pick. On top there is a piston with some razors on.
Title: Re: Zephyr's showcase

He used lawnmower blades as protection, iron spikes and ice picks on the sides, and razors for the weapons.

Meh. I'll have to test it to be sure. I think the A.I is somehow messed up.

@ty4er - 4WD, 2 blacks, 2 air tanks, DSA...

Controlled insane is a good thing. I wonder if it's just the skins, but it looks as though you might need to control it just a touch more. =P

And you can see the second pair of wheels just above the irons on either side. =)

Are bots able to climb over your pokers wedges with the irons? Mine has issues with that with maces. And your piston seems to far forward if your trying to make it a piston style gut ripper.

I haven't been able to test it as it crashes the game for some reason.

I'm sure there's a way to get rid of 4 kgs to get one last iron on there.  Maybe swapping the Y-connectors for regular extenders?
Title: Re: Zephyr's showcase

I didn't think of that. That could probably work.

There has to be a setup that uses 4kgs less of extender work... i know a few but let's see if you can find one on your own.

Attach them to both the AP's of the extenders

Segment the last 20cm and put it closer to the bot on the last extender.

   R
   A
R A

A is the AP and R is the rad
Title: Re: Zephyr's showcase

Title: Re: Zephyr's showcase
Post by: Sage on August 16, 2011, 01:45:34 PM
ty4er, i dont think the game lets you attach the rads like that either. the other extender gets in the way for some reason. t connectors are fine if you dont have anything else to do with the weight.
Title: Re: Zephyr's showcase

Title: Re: Zephyr's showcase

Stop using t connectors.

For the most part yes, but unless you can find a suitable extender setup with a 20cm instead of the t connector, as well as finding a use for 6kgs in this design, don't give him "advice" he can't use.
Title: Re: Zephyr's showcase
Post by: Somebody on August 16, 2011, 11:53:29 PM
I have some ideas, but I agree with Sage. It's only 6kgs.

Stop using t connectors.

Many rammers and other bots use t connectors. I'll try to stop using them but on this bot it doesn't really matter as I'm still under the weight limit.
I have some more stuff to post, just need to do a few things.

You're thinking of maces. You want to use Iron Spikes on this design, lose the rear wheels, add some front stabilisers, and add some more weaponry on the disc.

IRT the bot: The outer DDT system's weapon setup is too long. 20cms would do just fine. It would also concentrate the hits, allowing more consistent KOs. Nonetheless it's an above average popup.

Is this a good setup?

(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/65500Side hammer hybrid.PNG)

It's going to be a hammer/side hammer hybrid. The side hammers are going to be curved like on Vise (?).

Post by: Pwnator on August 20, 2011, 10:09:20 AM
I would advise against having a double hammer as in the end you would be distributing weight to FOUR bursts, plus armor. Ditch one of them and you'll be fine. You should also downgrade to shinies so you'll still have weight for more armor.

Fair enough.

Only one.

chassis cheating

Where?

pitiful attempts at originality.

Again, fair enough.

You can honestly say that you attached a baseplate halfway out the chassis? And two baseplates halfway in a nifty plus a CB? All pixel perfect? Cool story bro.

I've done this as well. It is possible to "exostack" a Baseplate Anchor, and get two of then into a Nifty/CB Stack like that. It just takes quite a long time to get it exactly right.
Title: Re: Zephyr's showcase
Post by: infiniteinertia on August 21, 2011, 03:28:02 PM
First off, this "exostack" term needs to die.

And second off, no. 4 components do not mesh like that normally. It's quite hard just to get 4 pinks in one place.

Post by: NFX on August 21, 2011, 03:33:56 PM
I have stacked two BA's, a CB and a Nifty battery like that before. Sometimes you can get crazy stacks like this if the angle of everything is absolutely perfect.

I second NFX. Exostacking is possible, I have done it several times with motors and batteries. It's just hard to do it.

I know MikeNCR has some good DSL exostacks. One TWM3R halfway out of the chassis on a shell spinner IIRC

Inf, I'll send you my latest Bug Bite, it has exostacked baseplate anchors (you can see it clearly on the bottom baseplate anchor on the right side of the bot):

They might have used movepixel or hax mode. They could have done it without either, but it is far more infrequent.

Not to turn this showcase into a discussion about exostacking, but it's legit, requires nothing like hax mode or NC's tool, fairly easy to do, and has been around for more than a year. I did it on my Ninja remake for ReStocked here: https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php/topic,798.msg177299.html#msg177299 (https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php/topic,798.msg177299.html#msg177299)

The community didn't stagnate when you left, Inf. Just because you haven't seen something doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

What about... chassis-stack? You are basically stacking a component in the chassis.

Or how about..."nicely done placing the baseplate through the chassis." It is a lot less gay than exostack since no stacking is involved and is technically realistic.

I really can't see anything besides the ddt's and the funky ramplate.

Anyways why do you play your RA2 with those reskins?
Title: Re: Zephyr's showcase
Post by: NFX on September 29, 2011, 12:49:15 PM
I think he's Gazea's brother, IIRC. And he plays with the Gazea2 Skin Pack. But you seriously need to improve the quality of your screenshots. Pressing F11 in-game takes a screenshot and saves it in the Screenshot folder. Give it a bit of a crop in MS Paint, save it as a .PNG file, and upload it.
Title: Re: Zephyr's showcase
Post by: Gazea2 on September 29, 2011, 01:08:18 PM
Yup, my brother. I think he got a bit over-excited with Paint.Net. >.>

Basically, there's two blacks at the back. In front of that is a snapper II with 2 extenders going sideways from the two APs. The drive and weapon DDTs attach to these. The wedge is a DDT attached to the baseplate and there's a BA holding the ramplate.

Next he will build a Crawler/SnS hybrid called Rumble Bee. It will have Endurance, Offense, and Protection versions. :D

Plows need to be wider for stability and spinner-scooping.  Could be a good bot then.  (Hard to judge without seeing what the back looks like though.)

Go for 9 maces. If you want to clone you might as well do it right. Just shrink the chassis.

^I lol'd.^

What I would do is try to shrink the Chassis around the Nifty, and get that a little closer to the SnapperII. Try to mount the HPZ to the visible Axle of the SnapperII to get it out of the way, maybe rotate the SnapperII around.

Just because I said 1WD can be good doesn't necessarily make bots that use it amazing.
