Time to repost my bots on the gametech mods forums, well here are my bots.
I favor a tactic of using defense as an offensive strategy so most of my bots embody that notion.
Absolute Spike Defense is the final version of my absolute defense line, however it doesn't use spikes anymore. Some of you might remember it from the old forum.

Ultimate Aegis is my middle weight bot, the spike on top does have a use, when the bot is upside down it allows it to become a weapon spinner similar to Absolute Spike Defence.

I have more, but I'm too lazy to post them right now.
-
how does ultimate defense do against other bots? it looks cool
also, make your pics smaller, so we dont have to scroll sideways to see them.
-
I think I remember Absolute Spike Defense. That one always looked fearsome.
Ultimate Aegis is good too, especially for not using Snapper II's. I'm a bit confused about what it does upside down though. Does it flop around? Spin like a top?
-
Absolute spike defense can beat every heavyweight in the starcore ai pack and psycolone ai pack. Absolute Spike Defense isn't very fast, however it is impossible to immobilize since it can perform somersaults if the weapon disks are spun a certain way.
The spike gives ultimate aegis some ground clearance when inverted to avoid lower attacking weapons, I'll make a video to demonstrate what it does later.
P.S. Sorry bout the pics, I'm running a panoramic monitor set-up on my computer so I forget that other people can't see as much as I can. ASD is weak to caster armor bots btw.

:O i thought that was Venko first

Venko first?
-
We had a builder named Venko this summer that brought much drama to the forums, and his building style was very close to Absolute spike defense.
-
When it came to building crawlers, there was nobody better than venko.
-
I remember you. You used to go by Seriyu or something like that.
You had some pretty sick servo crawlers.
-
Sick as in good, or sick as in nasty?
-
sick as is you guys are really dumb because none of you were around when this dude posted. he also used to be known as seiryu.
-
Cool, glad that someone here still remembers me. Yeah, the servo crawlers were pretty much useless except for one that I haven't posted, it's a special hybrid, I'll put it up when photobucket starts working again.
-
GTM has a file uploader, you could use that.
-
I prefer my photobucket so I can keep track of all my images.
Edit: it's working now
Attack of the Amoeba, it moves like one too... middleweight
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v516/MAIFrcrft2000/Amoebav3.jpg)
A ravaging Sea Urchin, it moves like one too... Heavyweight
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v516/MAIFrcrft2000/ravagingSeaurchin.jpg)
I have some more but I can't find them on my photobucket... too deep inside for me to search.
P.S. Both of these bots are old pics, they have been updated since then, I'll get some pics up soon.

We have fought online. Well, you enjoyed tumbling. I enjoyed attempting to fight.

Lol, soccer much? :-D
Updated Attack of the Rabid Amoeba, works much better than the previous versions.

if you guys want any videos of my bots fighting just ask, I'd be glad to post them no matter how horrible they are.
-
Those bots are awesome!
-
ok, how come people love these bots but didn't really like my bot A for Abstract?
-
Because you- Look, a duck!
*RUNS*
>.>
-
Back on topic?
Anyways Sage, these look so much cooler than you caster armored yellow-ish MW.
I remember fighting it online, and that was a mess...
-
this one is actually a crawler.
-
A really like ravaging sea urchin.
-
Too bad the urchin is completely useless since it gets immobilized in almost every match. It was fun to build and annoying to stack.
-
This is the white flag...
It's named the white flag because it does this...
-
So it... gives up, flies away, and gets counted out ?
-
actually it always teleports to the center bottom of the map at the beginning of each round.
-
Hmm well that sure is.... Cool :S

Ultimate Aegis Revived, I replaced the servos with light snappers, the snappers are stacked. The spike on top works as a self-righting tool, an extra weapon for when the bot is flipping through the air, and it protects the connectors that rarely ever get destroyed. The spike on the rear is intended to provide defense for the rear wheels and pitch control since the previous versions had a tendency to flip backwards after a hard hit, however an interesting discovery for me was that the spike actually functions as a vibrating weapon like a sonic cutter due to the wobbling generated by the motor. It actually works since if an enemy is behind me and the motors are spinning at full speed the vibrations of the spike actually do constant damage.
-
use one snapper and attach 2 motors that way.

The original re-vised version was trying to use the other motor's attachment point for some kind of forward defense, however I ran out of weight allowance...
Edit: Also I prefer the current motor set up over the two motors mounted to one snapper since the motor's weapons cover each other better and the lower weapons are just barely touching the ground, attaching a motor on the second mount point would make the motor touch the ground.

Spiral Star, a different take on Ultimate Aegis, works far better.
Also, Attack of the Rabid Amoeba vs Tommy Gun

COOL. I like the way the extenders are angled. Never knew you could have 2 motors on the same spot using only 1 snapper (Wait-- is it? Or are there 2?). :D
Amma clone Sea Urchin soon. XD
-
Glad to have ya back! Nice bot too.
-
I probably won't be back for long like always. Have fun building urchin, it will take a lot of dedication to stack those servos.
-
Aha! YOU'RE the guy who made the original Bumble Bee (Absolute Spike Defense). Sage made a bot with the same design called Bumble Bee, and caused quite a controversy when he entered it in my tournament.
Good work on Spiral Star. Very clean, organized design. The angled wedge-plow and the way you angled the maces down in the direction of spin are nice touches.

Wow, I'm surprised that my bot inspired sage to make a bot with a similar design.
Bumblebee's chassis design is actually the exact same layout for one of my older absolute spike defense variations when I was trying to shrink the size by using regular z-tek motors, but I found that the loss in power wasn't worth it.
Maybe I should enter Absolute Spike Defense in the next tournament you host.
Yeah spiral star is my next best MW design so far, the spikes on the lower motor are actually touching the ground and they are angled so it tends to get under other spinners easilly.
This is what it looks like and this is how I mounted the weapons and plow.
I was hoping that Starcore would be interested in integrating some of my bots into his next AI pack but I don't visit the forums quite enough to make a big splash though I'm sure absolute spike defense would be a huge challenge to defeat.
-
That's actually a lot like a MW version of Charybdis, the HW I just posted.
Now if I make a MW Charybdis, I'll have a hard time making it not look like Spiral Star. Good job.
-
Maybe I should enter Absolute Spike Defense in the next tournament you host.
NO.
And wayyy to much wasted on extender work.
-
The extender work is required to fit the plow.
I'm surprised nobody has noticed the out of place razor yet.
-
I saw it. Does it protect the motors?
-
No.
-
Oh but it does,
It protects the motors from hammer bots and does damage to bots that end up on top, not to mention it works as a self-righting device by allowing the weapons to touch the ground when inverted.
