I think it's time I share my latest creations. They probably aren't über-original, and their names are a bit... strange (lack of imagination), but here we go!
Lightweight: Dare
weight: 242.5 Kg
armor: DSA
class: Horizontal spinner
strengths: Invertable (Even though I'm a terrible driver when upside down)
weaknesses: defeatable by starcore lightweights.
Middleweight: Three-Sixty
weight:325.3 kg
armor: DSA
class: horizontal spinner
strengths: Dunno', never really tested it.
weaknesses: Poopish battery placement and a lot of left over weight.
Heavyweight: SpiderBite 2
weight: 790.1 kg
armor: DSA
class: Horizontal spinner
strengths: Can defeat all heavyweight bots in Starcore 3.0 pack, and one SHW.
weaknesses: Quick battery drain.

Comments, criticism, and angry mobs are welcome.

Get the blue snappers and learn how to take advantage of their two connection points. Also, try and put 2 blacks in spider bite.
-
Okay. Are blue snappers legal online?
-
Yes. They are unlocked with the rest of the AI parts, so, they are legal.
-
Wheres your "chained spinner"? :D
-
On the HW you could get more of those zteks on one snapper.

I couldn't stack the spikes, though. For some reason, Robot arena won't let me put two HP zteks on one snapper and still be able to stack the weapons.

Hehe! I appreciate your help, but I realized that my chained spiller was too high to do any damage. I'll have to look into vertical spinners first xD.
-
Note: I'll won't be posting robots for a little while because my computer just crashed. Just know that I haven't quit. I probably still will view other showcases, and other bots, though.
-
Sorry if this looks like a giant bump, but between either starting a new topic and reusing an old one, I'd choose the second. I DO have new bots to show, some of which need improvements, and others, I just think kinda' look cool.
So to start: I updated Spiderbite 2 with the snapper II's that you guys recommended. I then got to add a second black batt.
Name: SpiderBite 3
Bot Type: Horizontal Spinner
Weight: 795.7 kgs (Heavy Weight)
Armor: DSA
(http://i528.photobucket.com/albums/dd321/EverSoOften/Spider2.jpg)
I had a small building competition with another a person on Hamachi named "Haha". (His servers are GREAT for reduced lag) This is the product. Didn't fill weight class originally, unfortunately. I'm thinking of replacing the snappers with DDT's.
Name: Flash!
Bot Type: Hammer
Weight:394.6 kgs (Middle Weight)
Armor: DSA
(http://i528.photobucket.com/albums/dd321/EverSoOften/Flash.jpg)
And another competition... Very efficient online.
name: SandStorm
Bot Type: Horizontal spinner
weight: 246.7 kgs (Light Weight)
Armor: DSA
(http://i528.photobucket.com/albums/dd321/EverSoOften/Sa.jpg)
And another... Battery power is horrid, and it lost.
name: TwistedPhysics
Bot Type: Horizontal Spinner
Weight:122 kgs (Ant Weight)
Armor: Plastic
(http://i528.photobucket.com/albums/dd321/EverSoOften/TwistedPhysics.jpg)
This wasn't for a competition. It just stinks... Empty space, poor reach, etc... >>>Needs improvement<<<
name:Collision
Bot Type: Vertical Spinner
Weight: 395.1 kgs (Middle Weight)
Armor: DSA
(http://i528.photobucket.com/albums/dd321/EverSoOften/Collision.jpg)
I think bots will flow more quickly now. Enjoy.

incorrect. you just need to know you can only have one extender off the snapper to attach the motors with.
some better bots here though. for some reason i like the side hammer bot.
-
What do you mean? As in... exactly one extender and then two zteks attached to it?
-

yes
-
Wonderful snapper loading!
I love the side hammer too...
Rather than all these pinks and a nifty, try to fit a black batt.
-
naryar there is no snapper loading at all.
-
Wait, what snapper loading?
Thanks Naryar.
The black bat won't fit into Flash by one pixel >.o
The next thing I need to learn about is how to make a pop-up that actually works...
-
I was suggesting that "exactly one extender and then two zteks attached to it" is snapper loading...
...No wait, can be effeing too.... fail.
...Whatever, everyone can fail on their 1666th post, no?
EDIT: popups, well there are plenty in the other showcases.... a wedge with weapons "popping up" out of the chassis, with burst motors. Like Firestorm with weapons.
-
Snapper2's are plenty powerful for a MW side hammer. Instead of DDT's (which would require a new chassis anyway) I would suggest HP Z-tek drive, a Supervolt, and more front armor. One plow isn't going to cut it against your average HS. You have a good basic design and weapon arrangement though (except for the spike strips. Not sure what those are for.)
-
Oh, that's an idea. The spike strips were something around the idea of a rammer when the snappers ran out of juice, but it never worked out because the plow outreached it. What frontal armor do you have in mind, like caster armor?
-
Hmmm, new bot.
Name: Poisonous Spiderbite
Bot Type: Horizontal/verticle spinner hybrid
Weight:799.4 kgs
(http://i528.photobucket.com/albums/dd321/EverSoOften/Poisonousspiderbite.jpg)
It has an awkward way of driving, so that the body lifts up, parallel to the floor. I'll post a video to show what I mean. It is based off Naryar's snapper loading bot, with the same internals and chassis shape. I tried to make it into a verticle spinner at first but it flipped... literally. The black batts are stacked. Thanks for teaching me to snapper load and stack batteries ScrapDaddy :D.

Private.
-
Fixed, sorry. I uploaded it to gametechmods.
-
That is a weird bot.
-
My chassis is better !
I bet you could use the rear snapperII AP's with even more snapper loading rather than anchors for the axes.
-
Heh, I have to agree. I didn't figure that out at the time so I wasted about 5 inches of space. it gets bashed in the rear sometimes because of the excess :P. I'm still trying to master spinners though, so I guess it's a step.
-
bet i was the oone that bashed it in the back XD
-
New bot for the weekend. First pop-up... Capable of eliminating other starcore pop-ups, but I don't know if it's a good bot or a disgrace to all other pop-ups (If it is, please lay it gently ;P)
Terribly underweight, especially since black batt stacking didn't go as planned... three stacked pink batts in the front supply an almost-sufficient power supply. Highlights of the design include snapper loading, which I learned recently, stacked batteries, and a better-fitting chassis.
name: Metal detector
BotType: Pop-up
Weight: 593.7 kg
(http://i528.photobucket.com/albums/dd321/EverSoOften/Metaldetector.jpg)
-
frontal armor, 4wd, and black stacking should help a lot.
-
Is there a better way of attaching frontal armor than just anchors with ramplates?
-
You could use the extenders on the Snapper2s
-
Is there a better way of attaching frontal armor than just anchors with ramplates?
that is the best because it makes your wedges better because of frontal weight on the chassis. you could also do castor armor.
-
Sagey sagey...
pure popups dont need armor.
Looks good SA, but youmight wanna keep those wedges wide. saves weight and probably are better that way. go to 3 razors each and try and just use one blue snapper for the stacking. then we will see where you are weight wise, we could get this down to a MW.
-
(http://i528.photobucket.com/albums/dd321/EverSoOften/Metaldetector2resize.jpg)
Weight: 791.5 kg
I fixed it according to Sage's advice (It worked!) Frontal armor is pretty useful because I'm not used to driving pop-ups rather than spinners.
InfiniteInertia:
:D Thanks. I figured I would just use Emergency flippers, since they fill the whole front. There are already 3 razors on each DDT. Bringing the first version down to an MW would be cool. I could just use one snapper and squish the chassis in, too.
-
Use small wedges. They're much better, as proved by CB in his thread.
-
Okay, I fixed the wedges on the bot. Thanks for the advice.
I just finished another version, too :). This one has better 4WD and wider side armor. Same two black batteries. It's honestly still not enough, but I can't figure out how to stack the third yet.
name: Metal detector 3
Bot type: Pop-up
weight: 797.5 kg
(http://i528.photobucket.com/albums/dd321/EverSoOften/Metaldetector3.jpg)
-
WAY better than the 2. One flaw through: the front has no side armor.
-
I really don't have much weight left, so I think I'll just reverse the blue snapper that is holding the two side plows (The axle of the snapper is facing up.) Most bots are thin enough to fit through.
