I usually just google search things that are "shiny", and USUALLY something cool pops up.
That, or I expirement with decals and/or textures. Its fun ;)

Bot of the Month, in most cases, is more of an art form rather then a competition to see how 'destructive' something is.
Like how the current bot of the month is just a simple box with a hammer, but the Christmas parts that were used to make it are what made it a hilarious entry that eventually won. No seriously, its a rocket powered gumdrop hammer :3

I'm going to disagree with you here. In my view, BOTM is a fairly good all-round competition to see what kind of skills a builder can bring to the table across various disciplines. I'd say building a different and original bot comes first, in the case of Dimension a few months ago, then a well laid-out and informative splash that should also be easy to read. Destructive capabilities of a bot don't really enter into the equation as much as originality and, to a lesser extend, aesthetics seem to do.

originality I find takes a lot of votes in over splash or skin.. it isnt a showcase, people dont really want to see some generic robot with flames and other google images (:P) pasted on the home page for a month..

but back on topic now

Speaking of BOTM:

Even though it didn't get many votes I still thought it was pretty cool. The idea was to rebuild Vise with caster armor, and it turned out quite nicely.

2 Blacks (1600 output, motors take in 1400 total), DSA, weapons and stuff.

And then my BTTB entry:

Not quite as fancy as some of my other bots, but I wanted to do some different things for this one. For example, to give it more stability (instead of using a plow or something) I just extended the chassis and wedged it up, giving it kinda a olden days RA2 look. Then I tried angling the motors to protect the motors better, and that looks good too. All in all, was also a little bit of a rush job to get it in on time.

2 Blacks (difficult to stack >.>), 4wd (two of them are normal zteks for space/weight reasons), DSA, DDT wedges.

Enjoy and comment!

I do really like the VS a lot, if I didn't have to face it first, I'd probably like it even more...

Raze is cool aswell, maybe if you'd skinned it to reference an internet meme or something it'd have done better ;P

Rename it to "Rage", "Raeg" or "Brooklyn Rage", and then put a picture of Joey Wheeler on it.

No, but I believe the snapper can flip it back over.

I like how you wedged the back. Don't see that too often. How good does it too? it seems like the blades are pretty low.

I haven't tested it yet, seeing as I built it a 1am. I bet it will do fairly well, with decent wedges and probably lose against HS.

yeah..

so many people complained about my wins being because of the splash. Then everyone turned hypocritical and voted on an internet meme

both robots are fairly basic to your normal standards Sage.. but at the same time pull off that professional look..

Basic wins tournaments :P

I need to plan, then I'll do something ridiculous. Any hybrid ideas?
