people think original designs will fail in combat but that's only because people need time to perfect new designs. We have seen the perfect horizontal spinner, possibly seen the perfect popup etc. the only reason stock is fading is because people are letting it >.>

And you made it f**king awesome for me again.

Test 1: Inf is still a douche
Result: True
fixed

I kinda like the LW, though it does seem familiar.  What's with the random extender in the front?

I like where this is going.
That LW looks just like one of r0b0's bots.

oh look some of the shmoozers have still survived. anyway, generic is an underwhelming misstatement. because copying other builders is now trendy.

Well when he starts being original, it'll be better, but he still has good skills.

Douche. There's barely any original ideas to come up with.

I have watched people settle into a couple camps over the years. Usually Pop-ups and HS. Seems people forget that optimized for one type of combat means likely vulnerable to other types of combat.

Pop-ups generally attack under or front while most HS rely on attacking sides and ripping off opponents components.

I made Warmachine to show that Rammers have room for innovation and can do well with Caster Armor for side and under defense.

If I can find the time will pull out my Scorpion design to show off Ram Plate Trap with over-the-top damage.

For variation in HS I showed off my T-800 Update awhile back with multi Ram Plate front grid.

And I still think bots like Alien Queen have lots of room for combat effectiveness knocking opponents up and away.

Think out of the box.

As for thinking out of the box, nothing wrong with tournaments in Arenas with No Sides, Low Sides, Center Pit(s), variable ground clearance and/or Poles to greatly shake up what is effective and what is not.

That's why I like DSL, more people are likely to design different and interesting designs.

The old guard is taking a stand, and I'm not even old. I was just really good when I was younger.

I'm just confused, because so many of these bots are blatant clones. I guess I have to remind peole what bots I have with some updates.

Glad you're back, but have you forgotten how good builders progress? I'm pretty sure we all started out with clones. I know I did. I'm pretty sure Scrap, Pwnator and others did too. Originality and creativity comes largely from experience with the game, knowing the boundaries that you can push and how to exploit glitches and techniques that can push them.

Are RedAce's bots original? No, they're not. You're right. But he deserves some applause for being able to flat out build. Say what you will, but it's been quite a while since someone's come along and been able to clone bots from you, Starcore and others and make them as well as the originals. His originality will come in due time.

Also, for the rest of you guys, Inf + Venko = NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

I think he's saying he's done enough cloning and should try to get his own style of building.
Put this onto your signature if you were part of this crappy fad in '03.
