Title: powerrave's briefcase
Post by: powerrave on February 08, 2010, 04:12:35 PM
yes i put my robots in a briefcase.
anyway, time to reshow what i have. don't have anything really from the old days. tried rebuilding a few. keep in mind that i make realistic bots only.

first off, i had rebuild micro vulcan as it was a decent light weight flipper doesn't have the screen shown in the pic.

and then i wanted to try and rebuild tetra vulcan, my middle weight flipper. i later on found pics of the old one andd found out that i made a slightly improved version.

next up was... well.. i remembered having a rammer so i made one with the same idea. first was called mega vulcan. i forgot that and now it has a new name, power struggle.

then i came with the brilliant idea of rebuilding my magnet bot. and i made an exact rebuild of FBSmagnet 3.

next up was the N-disc serie... i forgot all the older ones and just started on a new one. appeared to be number 5 in the series and the first one to be able to selfright.

i'm glad to be back and i will try and make new and realistic based bots.

I like the bots. You should use Shinies instead of mini's and grannies instead of N-12's on your bots though.

i do agree, but granny wheels are so ugly =[
tried shiny on micro but that turned out rather bad. i more often flipped myself. and N-disc has the smaller wheels for minimum ground clearance. they barely touch the ground. the disc btw doesn't do to much damage, but works wonders on wheels.

you probably feel attracted to the magnet

Don't you think that was a little too easy ? :P

Although realism is disliked by most of us in stock, these bot's look quite good.

Micro Vulcan: I would raise the RAD's by about 3 dimensions. Then put shinies on.

Tetra Vulcan: Use shinies, with the remaining weight, you can get a wedge.

Power Struggle: Only one black battery is needed for this, use shinies, try to remove some of the useless angle connectors. If you have enough weight, you could turn this into a poker.

FBS Magnet 3: I'm not good with FBS

N-Disc 5: Use and Hp-ztek for weapon motor, and add a wedge.

Perhaps you already know... but there is a file uploader on the left hand side of the GTM main site. That way you can just let the site host and sent the link to your friends, enemies, family, loved ones, pets, authority figures, etc etc.

B.T.W.  I reeaaaaaaly like how you set up your pics as spoilers in the message like that. It keeps it really clean. Interesting idea.

The rammer is cool looking. Looking forward to seeing more of your bots.

didn't know that. and i can even send them to my guinea pigs!? AWSUM! and i am used to using spoilers to avoid having larger posts then needed.

will attempt to these things. but i'm not a big fan of pokers. and i was actually planning to make a 6 wheel version on power struggle.

tried HP ztek for Ndisc when building up, but was to lazy (yes i am a slacker). a wedge may be handy, but i think that the would have to make the disc longer. hmm... gotta try it out anyway.

and FBSM is just fine i think. my friends tried to fight it, i had major lag and he just could hit it. he hates it now :P

someone has got to like them, then let it be me.

:D somebody finally understands my thoughts...

the bots are really radiating cool looks, power struggle looks awesome with the wheel guards. as Naryar did say realism is just ignored in stock not disliked so keep doing what your doing if your happy with it and we will take them for what they are  ;)

wait, how does the magnet spiner work?

by spinning around like a maniac with it, unless the enemy can't or doesn't want to come to you. then you just ran away and maybe later start spinning again. kind of a FBS and rammer combo.

also, what is RFS?

Pardon his rudeness Powerrave.  Radio F Software is a member here that likes to build realistic bots as well. He has stuck to that for quite a few years. Probably one of the more passionate realistic builders on the forum. I (agreeing with lloop) think he would like your work.
Title: Re: powerrave's briefcase
Post by: powerrave on February 09, 2010, 02:34:22 PM
ok, good to know.

now i have been busy with the tips i had gotten. tetra vulcan in the end remained unedited as smaller wheels result in a loss of good control. it is more likely to suddenly start spinning while in want to drive forward or backward. as for the wedge, no good and enough space.

others have been edited. micro vulcan has easier to hit wheels but is can't get stuck on its end now and it is more stable.

N-disc 5, now 5.2, has the HP z-tek for the disc, has a wedge which has proven its use and some fresh wheels. overall result, more mayhem.

and last, power-struggle 2. piston powered spike wall, shiny wheels, shortened side strips, better front corner protection and slightly faster due to a little less weight.

You can do it ingame. Just press the export template button in the paint section. Then go to the custom textures folder out of the game and skin. Then import the file.

That flipper looks pretty nice. You could get Regular Z-Tek drive on it for more speed if you want.

and on the spinner, wedges aren't any good unless they are on a snapper. Right now with them on an anchor, they arent going to get under anything.
Title: Re: powerrave's briefcase
Post by: powerrave on February 10, 2010, 07:12:09 AM

seemingly, i missed a few thing, and will answer that now (since i have nothing better to do on school).

For Power Struggle, I think you can fit another air tank in.

i had tried fitting in three air tanks but there is not enough space. to bad, it would have helped with not running out of air.

It's beautiful. You should enter it in ROBONOVA if it goes ahead.

if it is a realistic lightweight tournament (it it's there), i will enter micro vulcan. just to see how it will perform. i do hope that there is an arena with hazards and the possibility to flip others out of the arena. that is also a reason that i lost in BBEANS3, still, i got to the second round so it wasn't a complete loss.

That flipper looks pretty nice. You could get Regular Z-Tek drive on it for more speed if you want.

and on the spinner, wedges aren't any good unless they are on a snapper. Right now with them on an anchor, they arent going to get under anything.

i guess you mean micro with 'that nice looking flipper'. i could try and do that, but i think i would go over the lightweight limit. i'll see.

so, better to remove wedge then? i won't be able to fin in a snapper there.

on other news, i am going to try and make some new bots. maybe try something other then a flipper for lightweight. and i will still make a new power-struggle. planning on 6 wheeled ramming power, but i will see to that later. might even get to something completely different.

Do you really need 2 DDTs on a LW flipper ?

And yes, faster drive would be better.
Title: Re: powerrave's briefcase
Post by: Badnik96 on February 10, 2010, 08:07:55 AM
Micro Vulcan is underweight.
Title: Re: powerrave's briefcase
Post by: powerrave on February 10, 2010, 01:37:48 PM
tried z-tek for drive in micro. i can't fit in a big black battery between the z-teks. and i don't want to reshape. don't want to do skinning again.

and yes i need 2 DDTs. that is what gives this bot such flipping power. it had only one in the first 2 versions. it wasn't strong enough.

Zoom in all the way through the chassis tab and put in the drive and batts like that. Yeah, delete the drive previously placed.
Title: Re: powerrave's briefcase
Post by: powerrave on February 10, 2010, 04:29:52 PM
took me some time to get this right and one big hooray for the option to lower DPI on my gaming mouse. micro vulcan 1.5 is here. i didn't want to lose the other one as is was so stable. and good thing i did so. with some careful adjusting of the chassis i was able to make it all fit in nicely and it still is a lightweight. but its old weakness has returned and is worse now... getting stuck on its end and now, i cant flip myself out of it. just for that, i will prefer the older micro vulcan.
Title: Re: powerrave's briefcase
Post by: somestrangeguy on February 10, 2010, 04:34:40 PM
If you can position the drive further backwards, it shouldnt get stuck on its rear.
Title: Re: powerrave's briefcase
Post by: powerrave on February 10, 2010, 04:38:10 PM
i had already tried that. it is as far as it can get. with granny wheels it would be able to get off of its rear but adding those would make it a middleweight. to bad really. but i think this is as good as it can get with z-tek drives.

Double Strenght Alunium

Its stonger than Steel but as light as Alunium.
Some Stock bots have other versions of the Double Strenght armors, like Steel on Emerengy and Forky, if you want that armor you are going to have to use its chassis without altering its height or shape in anyway.

and here is what i said i was going to make. a 6 wheeled power-struggle. and it is called The Second Struggle. now this i like, i bash a lot to death and it is to fast. i already flew into the pit in the metal skull arena. i tried to hit the enemy but he worked as a ramp then. =P

@hypnodisc7: weapons not in, they are on the bot. but yeah, it is favorite for me to use as i rush true the arena ramming everything out of the way. 6 wheeled rammer = good idea.

on a side note, i have been on fire in real life twice. didn't hurt that much but was happy to beat myself out. still, it was a fun experience.

well.. i have tried stuff with the exact rebuild of the chassis and... it is mainly just a good looking chassis but not practical. might try and use the chassis in DSL if i feel like it. recently made a new LW in DSL that i now plan on entering BBEANS6 because it is way more effective then what i first had. and first i didn't know about multi extender and the ants.

anyway, here is what i could still make of it. i am not proud of it.

8WD rammer has been done a couple times, but I haven't seen an 8WD poker before.

Tip: rotate the Z-teks so the flat side is flush with the floor instead of the pointy side.  That will let you use shiny hub wheels, which will get you a whole 48 more kgs to work with.

some extra weight is always good, more spikes and maybe some back protection. i'm also planning to use one angler on each side for 3 wheels on each side, this might give me slightly more weight to use as well and hopefully make this bot more stable. will be trying different things.

decided to show this. seen in the BTTB splash. and this is a POPUP! NOT a wammer or whatever.

didn't know what to do with the other weight.

too much weight on the DDTs for popup. with the weight add more batteries. you'll need max power of those DDTs to fire that weapon rack.

I would be worried about those extenders holding on the ram plates... one unfortunate hit from an HS and your armor could be ruined.

The bot does look cool though.  Is the top spike rack static, and the bottom one fires like a popup?  That's an interesting setup... kinda like a wammer/popup hybrid.  Wonder why no one's done that before.

Neither of them are static and the design actually has been done before (Big Love in NAR AI).

You're probably right about the armor extenders though.

Ah I see.  I didn't realize the other DDT was for the wedges.

Hmm, I don't like the spike rack angled so far forward.  As it is, the design will trap bots and the weapon will work more like a short hammer than a popup... which could work with 8 iron spikes, but I think it would be better if it could hit the bottom of bots.  Also you can get by with shiny hub wheels to save weight.

Still a cool design and skin though.

I personally really like the bot, but the wheel choice could have been better.

i had trouble with positioning the extenders for it, and for some reason i wanted it to work like a scoop, but, it's not working toooooo well.

what wheels would you suggest? shiny's?

The front rack is static right?

How does this resembles Big Love apart from having a heavy burst weapon and a static rack ?
