Title: Mistfire333's showcase
Post by: Mistfire333 on April 21, 2012, 12:04:17 AM
NOTE. I HAVE DELETED THE FIRST TWO BOTS I WAS "SHOWING OFF" BECAUSE THEY ARE EMBARRASSING FAILURES. INSTEAD I AM GOING TO DISPLAY ME NEWER GENERATION OF BOTS.

Another thing before you look at my bots. My team's name is District 7 and respectively has ax-based weapons as a theme. Yes, I know that the small ax is not that good of a weapon but it works for me. Now, if I could get tips on alternatives that still correspond to my theme I will not reject these ideas.

To begin, I am showing my only bot. I stole the design off of Grog (stock) and just switched out the swinging weapon. I gave it a battleaxe to use as a static weapon on the back, and added ax pistons on the front with two Co2 containers. Not much is changed otherwise, and I am aware that it's cheap of me to steal an AI bot's design but its for me to get an idea of what I should use and how it works.

It's name is Mist.

Weight and armour?

Also don't use pink batteries on Heavyweights(I take that is what the first one is) or Middleweights, Use black batteries.

Use Irons on the second bot instead of Axs(Use them only on rammers)

And way more weapons are needed to make the first bot more effective.

It's not like it can beat starcore bots...

Anyways, next time, you will post your bot pictures URL's between IMG tags like I modded your first post.

There's quite a few things you can do to improve. One of the first things to learn is to build the chassis around the components, rather than build an oddly-shaped chassis and fill it with whatever fits. It saves a huge chunk of weight that could be spent on weaponry and suchlike. Also, one of the simplest things you can do is swap square extenders for round ones. They do exactly the same job, for 60% less weight.

Something you might not have noticed, if you completely ignore the Armor tab when you're building your chassis, your robot is given armour that is the same weight as Aluminium, but stronger than Steel. You should only open up the Armour tab if you need to use Plastic armour for weight constraints on sub-Lightweight designs.

axes have normals and therefore are not good on spinners, use maces preferably
miniwheels are not too good either, switch them for shiny hubs

read this http://beetlebros.gametechmods.com/ra2stats.htm (http://beetlebros.gametechmods.com/ra2stats.htm)
and what reier posted

Spin-a-Pound (Originally named BRVR)
And you think you can beat us with those bots?
*cough* Anyway, use DSA, and symmetrical Chassises. Axes sucks so I prefer Razors, Irons & Maces.

Just so you know, when you post, try to pop the armour and weight up as well, because recommendations for the improvement can always be done from that.

Also, try not to chain post - there is an edit button on every post you make, please use it instead of giving us that beastly quad-post ;p

On Jeff, you should swap the redbirds for some HPZ's, get rid of the pinks, use shiny hubs for wheels, not mini wheels, use more effective chassis shapes, get rid of useless space like the DDT with the snowplow at the back, use the most effective weapons for the spinner, like Iron Spikes, Maces, and Razor Tips. also, take this advice:

A small recommendation: skip armor entirely. You will have DSA (Double Strength Aluminum) which is about the weight of aluminum armor but stronger than steel.

but i like the style, it reminds me of my old bots. :D
