Warning: this topic has not been posted in for at least 180 days.Unless you're sure you want to reply, please consider starting a new topic.

That long huh? Well guess I'm allowed to necro my own topic.
:p
So I got bored one day and decided to fire up RA2 and mess around in the bot lab for a bit. I started by clicking on Atom Smasher and playing with it's chassis.

It turned out to be a decent bot.

I thought I had more screenshots, but I guess not. Anyway, with a little skillful driving, it could beat just about anything that wasn't a VS, HS, or  pop-up.

Well, to be honest, just one because I didn't feel like trying to stack them at the time. I threw in a "cheat" battery to do the battles. I have almost 80kgs left over so I could stack in another battery and have weight to spare for....something.

If you got weight to play with I would suggest putting the plow out further (longer extender maybe) and change the tribars out for discs with 8 Irons attached to each. If they are spaced at a correct distance behind the plow they will shred a bit more than tribars getting stuck on impact against opposing bots. I think it would help the grinding capabilities of the bot.

Looks really cool.  Glad to see you building every now and again.

Been awhile since I've built in stock, (6 years according to my showcase), but figured I may as well showcase my GTMCS entry, which I very much enjoyed building and skinning.

Wooo best bot

Actually it's not because looking at my original designs reminded me that I always used to put plows on my FS (and for good reason), so here's the bot I probably should have entered. This one also weighs 399.0 kgs.

TBH I only have the stock AI, and they both crush EMERGENCY no prob, but I'm thinking version 2 is probably better because the plows help it trap bots and protect it from HS somewhat.
Someone else make a stock MW tournament for me to enter.

BTW, what AI pack are the cool kids using these days?

also use Ultimate AI, since it combines Starcore, Pys, Inf, Restocked, and other things I'm forgetting into one giant pack.

I'm not actually sure if this is an offense, but it IS a constructive post with descriptions on the bots (and some amount of precaution taken to censoring and stuff), so personally I don't mind. Probably can't say the same for the other mods, but I guess they'll fix it if it's really a problem.

Yeah, the second one is much better. Haven't seen that weapon setup in quite a while.

This bot was a pain in the ass

797.something kgs. It drives like hot garbage because of how the back z-teks are mounted. (the pointy side is facing down). Could fix it with the granny wheels, but can I get away with only two black batteries? (The rear ones are stacked).

enjoy your ass wedges m8. And all those 140cm extenders, have fun getting them ripped off by 3 razors on a rad.
also lol at most toxic guy around calling others out on this sh**

doesn't more weight on the wedge make it better? But yeah this was kinda a fail.
Still deciding if i can be botheredbto build something better though.

mount your drive like this:

weighs 1kg more than your current setup so that should put you at 799.kg, if you need more weight you can do this instead of using angled extenders:

that would give you another 4kg to work with.

may want to try dropping some of the 140cms on the hammers and swap to razors to see if you can get enough weight to put a plow above the face spinners to help with trapping.

another idea i have that would help the wedges would be to drop make it a quad FS using the front blue snappers and removing your sidehammers and making those snappers your wedge ones.

So is it worth it to stick with the concept and improve it rather than just give up and make an HS?

Pretty sure you could fix the bot with the two suggestions 09 made. Fix the plow extenders first so you immediately have an extra 4kg to work with for your drive.
