Title: Mad-man 3's Showcase (for real this time)
Post by: madman3 on September 25, 2010, 12:29:33 PM
I've finally found a decent image converter so I can start now!

Techratica
Basically a test of how awesome a basic unoriginal pop-up could be. It can 2 hit KO all the Starcore V3 middleweights and has some armor up front.

Its a bit underweaponed, use some more weapons.

Actually doesn't look too bad. If you can, try and get DDT wedges on there, they're normally much better than Snapper2's.

I would but that would be a space waster and therefore I'd have to cut down on the armor. The wedges are pretty good anyway. But here's a slightly better version with moar razorz!!

Bad. don't need more razers. These kids dunno what they're talking about. A popup doesn't need lot's of weapons. A faster swing with 4 razors (the max amount you usually want to put on a DDT) will do just as much damage as 7 razors are a slower swing, but without wasting 21+kgs. And the wedge looks a bit steep.

Good bot though.

I know Badnik. I have progressed since Febury the 23rd or whenever we had that online battle.

Sage: Yeah, tbh I think I was getting pretty desperate with it. I'm having to sacrifice armor effectiveness every time so I'm gonna keep the first one.

Her her her Imma generic 20 razawr popup :P

Pretty effective, wedges are unreliable but bladed, basically just an R4 clone with DDT wedges.

Axle loading, impressive. =] I still need to figure out how to do that.

And there's a nice space at the back where you can stack the blackvolts. Maybe lose a few of the razors, I reckon 4, or even 3 on each would be okay, then you could maybe get some frontal ramplates on as well.

It's also not an R4 klone, as it has no ears. =D

You might want to make that chassis wedge more shallow.

Some of the crappy insides. Will rebuild as a decent bot soon.

Nice pic of it killing Mutiny 2.

Remove 2 razors and stack a black.

And make it airtight, as TX said.

Well i thought it looked a bit underpowered, make it tight enough you may only have to remove 1 razer anyway.

Normally a lot of people strive for the pyscolone popup challenge. Its 2 HPZ Drive, 3 DDTs, 4 razors on the 2 outer ones, a wedge on the middle one, and two stacked blacks.

Wait it already has 2 ? If then, nevermind my last post. If it has only 1, stack one more.

Wedges are pretty good and the caster armour actually does something. 4 razors.

Well, I can't really say much about it since I've used a similar setup and it also works well.

Hmmm... how about ditching the wedge blades so that you can add another pair of casters?

It has been a very long time since I touched this showcase, but I felt like using stock and I built a surprisingly good MW VS.
HP Z-Tek drive, DSA.

Overall its pretty stable due to its moderate stance and it has suprisingly good wedges, as it can actually outwedge (:O) Seism 13 and Bounty Hunter, as well as a whole host of other HWs. But if fails against most HS (gave Vela a good run for its money though, nearly immobilizing it and KOing it.)

Here are some battle shots;

Some of the BBEANS bots it Ko'ed;

May post some other projects later.

Is it possible to move the weapon forward a bit?
And... umm...
Why square extenders?

140 cm square extenders weigh 5 kg.

Kewl.

You might want to try 40cm ditching the middle caster and use 40cm wedges so you can protect your motor with a razor or something.

The weapon could be move forward, but where it is it's slightly less vulnerable as a HS would travel up the wedge and have a harder time hitting the motor because of its location.

Also, 140cm square extenders weight only 5kg, making them pretty efficient if you want longer wedges. Edit; thanks, Bob :P

Will do, Pwn.

shows how often i play stock >.<
But try moving the weapon forward/protect the motor because it looks a little exposed to me.
If the weapon is back there then it looks like HS's might get to the chassis a little too easily before you can attack if it's low enough.

Just did Pwns advice (save for changing the wedges; did that and the wedges sucked :P) and the motor now has a razor protecting it. Still bad against HS, but most VS are.

Here's another few bots:
Yay, super havoky poker. It isn't that bad, but it ain't really amazing. Good against HS when it isn't havoky off the screen. Setup's pretty obvious.

Some popup I made. Has only 1 black but it delivers quick KOs.

Another popup, this time intended to be a replacement for Ronin in my AI folder. Underweight but it has good wedges. Not very damaging but hey, it wasn't exactly a serious bot. It looks pretty though  :gawe:. Used axle loading for the drive and snapping loading to mount the weapon motors inside the batteries.

MW Poker is very well built, I reckon. If you swapped the T Connectors for normal Round Extenders, you'd save a fair chunk of weight, I reckon, and you might be able to add a couple more razors. To me, it looks quite a bit like a MW version of 3.14-ston, maybe that's why it's so havoky.

They're fairly average, beat most of the Starcore popups, but there aren't many of those :P. Might export it to PSY AI just for wedge testing.

It's havoky because of the fact that the pistons are technically mounted on a servo, which is always pretty bad (causes horrific AGOD too). However, when it's working its reach manages to remove frontal protection like ploughs with ease.

You're gonna find that those wedges are not up to par. I recommend switching to DDT wedges on the HW.

They seem to work fairly well here. On the MW the wedges are on par with its DDT wedge equivalents, but I may change them.

The wedgiest Snapper II bot AFAIK is Seism 16 or Wipeout.

Some pop-up I may use in Enigma AI if he gives me a team;

Drive's static, 16 razors; 4 per DDT. Usually gets two hit KOs, but it's better than that 20 razor pop-up near the beginning of my showcase, with pretty decent wedges (to my surprise; it can outwedge some bots like Seism 13 and R4 but not Surgical Strike or SCV4 Hunter Killer Tank).

Both matches took 7 seconds, to my surprise.

I'd try and protect the wedge extenders more though if I were you.

The 140 extender sort of acts as one of R4's ears, and surprisingly effectively.

The wedges usually fall prey to attack after the ramplates, but I guess they need more protection. Should I remove a razor from each DDT for some protection?

Is this not literally a complete clone of Neglected Waterbug... just with RADs instead of ramplates? Honestly you even used the same exact servo/tribar setup...
