Looking good, it would be alot better if the wedge wasn't as steep as it is :)

not actually a pysc popup
"The challenge is: Build a MW popup with 2WD HPZ drive, Rubber wheels, 2 stacked Supervolts, DSA, 3 DDTs, 8 Razor tips, and 1 Small wedge."

How not?

screw them i like the extenders

i really dont get everyones fetish with neat extender work, like it only makes sense if it could obviously net you some sort of increased performance and in most cases when people complain about it, it wont
Title: Re: Kurt's Stock Stuff
Post by: G.K. on July 26, 2015, 09:54:10 PM
You make a valid point, Kill. And the extenders are fun, I meant it. Certainly in this instance not much can be gained from lightening the extender setup, assuming, Kurt, you want to keep the width of the motors? That said, though, what weight is the bot on atm?

If you were to rebuild this I'd consider making that first extender that comes off the S-II just a 20cm. You would then have the HPZ's protected better from other HS and side hammers - they'd be both partially in the chassis and in the drive Z-Teks. While it's not ideal to have the motors exposed you don't have much choice, and having more than one motor in a similar place, with the wheel and plow about too, will mean more things are there to take hits. It's like the process of segmenting wedge extenders.

At the same time, though you wouldn't lose out in the reach department - the plow would still be the same distance in front of the HPZ, that wouldn't change.

Apart from the stuff on the tribars there are literally 2 20cm extenders.

lolwut

Anyhow - I'm worried about motor protection. Where do the motors normally sit? I'm assuming they aren't usually at that angle, given the SII rotation.

Also, what weight/how many blacks? Trying to work out if you can get some armour on the thing.
Title: Re: Kurt's Stock Stuff
Post by: Philippa on July 29, 2015, 11:10:55 AM
One Black, 798.9, normally at the position on the right.
Title: Re: Kurt's Stock Stuff

PFFFFT YOU COULD HAVE ROTATED THE ARMS SO THAT ALL MOTORS ARE COLINEAR

also you could downgrade to shinies for some casters or something

48 razors.
4 HPZ weapon motors on snappers for boosting.
2 HPZ drive motors so it's faster than I was expecting.
2 big discs attached to the chassis for infinite armour.

What's with the extenders in front of the discs? Also is it possible to get something to protect the tribars?

6kg left over, figured I'd put up something to try and block a wayward poker getting at the weapon motors.

What's the point of the blue snappers if you're using RA2CF? Just chassis mount everything, unless you have a burning desire to burst-boost those Z-Teks
Title: Re: Kurt's Stock Stuff
Post by: Pwnator on September 07, 2017, 06:50:04 AM
100+ kg on a non-bursted HPZ is painfully slow, though. One of the bots in II AI had that and is forced to SnS just to deal decent damage.
Title: Re: Kurt's Stock Stuff
Post by: Badger on September 07, 2017, 06:52:37 AM
Fair I guess, I didn't know that boosting the HPZ did that much. I still wonder if it's worth it for the weight and losing invincibility for the HPZs, I feel like a popup is gonna feed on them (unless the bottom disc completely protects them?)

"It's been built 6 times already." is literally Stock in 6 words.

I like it for the reason of not using the same components as everything else, something i've tried in my entry. So I hope it gets a win or two at the very least.

Agreed. Just ditch those for 3-4 plows then you've got a solid bot.

Nah, I had a bunch of leftover weight and wanted to add something. With the upwards stick the weapons can still spin when its flipped over, so that's a plus.

You're not exactly wrong. :dumb) Plinkyde was the original, Plinkyde 2 was the same chained VS idea but not sh**, Plowboi was the exact same as Plinkyde 2 but with plows, Psychic Gloria was turning it into a hybrid, and Digitiser was replacing the vertical spinners with hammers.

Post by: Pwnator on June 19, 2018, 06:33:41 PM
Do the arms even retract properly? 4 irons is already pushing it on a popup, so I don't see 5 on a hammer doing well.

That aside, the setup looks clean. I'd prefer 4 RAD spinners instead of the 2 HPZs you got there, but I'm not sure if there's enough weight even if you lighten the hammers.

These last 2 bots look great.

If nothing else, Digitiser is as aesthetic as ****...

Especially in how you built those extenders for the wedge. Maybe not the most weight efficient, but why not if you have some spare in the bank.

"Digitiser" is a swell name, I'd also use rads if you can do fit them well.

Title: Re: Pip's Stock Stuff
Post by: Sage on July 10, 2018, 09:42:09 PM
Irons on rads, especially in gut ripper fashion, won't be doing you much good. Switch to razors, add a few trapping snowplows up top to protect your DDT and keep bots on top of you.
Agree that the hammer is gonna be weak with that much weight.
Use anchors to symmetrically mount the wedges on the outside. Uneven wedges are inconsistent, and this way you can make it w i d e r

Cool bot!

Yeah, that's pretty much the most you could get out of that snapper setup. Theoretically you could extend the front part of the chassis so you could jam in a tall caster but I'm not sure if it'll weigh more than 800.
