Title: Kill343gs's Comeback Tour

Yes, it says 496.8. I goofed up. I meant 396.8.

Anyways, my first bot since my mysterious dissapearance back in february, A rebuild of my old bot ExperiMENTAL. The story is, the computer with all my old data on it basically melted itself from the inside out. All my data is stuck in limbo at the moment, my uncle is trying to fix the hard drive so we can access the information on it. My bots went with that computer, and I didn't have a backup because my disk drive didn't work. There's nothing really new here, I just needed something to get me back into the swing of things. This bot is incredibly stable and well armored. DSA, 1 blackvolt.

Vertical Spinners always had held a special place in my heart.
Another rebuild of a past bot, My Playstation gone wild. I give to you, iMi Pláýstáýtíóñ Fue Loco!

The original MPGW had a HP Ztek mounted out the front by a baseplate anchor with double stacked irons, which gave it a long reach. Unfortunatly, this also made it gyro dance whenever it hit something. It was built for BBEANS 3. It made it pretty far until it had some bad luck against sorrow's bot (which I later beat online, but that's a different story). Anyways, Loco has the HP mounted inside the chassis with triple stacked razors. DSA. 247.7.

And if you were wondering, this is MPGW:
And if you're wondering why i lost, its because that is Inf's clone of ACAMS's bot ChildsPlay IV.

First thing I have to say is nice title. :D

The vs looks veeeerry nice. I did the same thing with the same set up but withone spinner and with more spikes on it.

The hs is bleh. Teh generic. I liked the version with irons better.

Hey Kill, would you mind if I take the general idea of "my playstation gone wild" and make other system related bots?
Lol my WII gone wild, my gamecube gone wild, my XBOX gone wild.

I had to use imageshack, GTM one is acting a bit funny at the moment.

Anyways, this is Mental Breakdown, ExperiMENTAL's older brother. I really need to use this 100kg, but I don't know where to put it. hmmm. DSA and the works. 2 Black Batts.

Triple spikes and side protecection?
Title: Kill343gs's Comeback Tour
Post by: kill343gs on May 08, 2008, 09:46:37 PM
The way I drive side protection isn't necessary, and I'm not so sure how I would do triple spikes...

Post by: Cooker on May 09, 2008, 01:02:23 AM
Maybe two 40 cm extenders on the side attachement point of the extenders that carry the weapon drives, facing forward down and two iron spikes on each, the way they stick out trough the plows. Question of dooing a little more damage in a closed contact.

Ramplates all the way.

They have the same Health ???

I never thought that. But it seems that everyone is using plows... so it is the reason.

ram plates do damage and plows don't.

I'm my memory serves me well, all weapons and extras have 1000 health except for razor tips which have 500.

I know ramplates do damage, but their damage amount is so small along with their small size that it wouldn't do me any good to use them.
Title: Kill343gs's Comeback Tour
Post by: Sage on May 10, 2008, 01:28:16 PM
wrong. in my beginning days of RA2, EMERGENCY killed me. not immobilize, kill. its ram plates did it. if memory serves me well, i had steel armor on that bot. if u need pure defense, ramplates are better. plows have their place with bots that need stability or wider protection, like yours. and i have the mindset that rams actually do have more health, because if they do damage back to other weapons, those weapons will have their own attack bounced slightly back at them, making the rams last longer.
Title: Kill343gs's Comeback Tour
Post by: kill343gs on May 10, 2008, 01:43:37 PM
That's basically what I meant. Remplates have their place in smaller bots like popups and things like that, but not something that needs stabilization and wide cover.
Title: Kill343gs's Comeback Tour
Post by: Naryar on May 10, 2008, 01:53:48 PM
Agreed Sage. I think ramplates have 2000 health.
Ramplates have their place... well, in a U or V-shaped front clamp (hammer, VS), or on a wedge (popups)... but I must agree that they're not that useful on HS's. Excepted if you make a HW with a LW chassis...
Title: Kill343gs's Comeback Tour
Post by: Scrap Daddy on May 10, 2008, 03:23:46 PM
The only good thing about snowplows are that they are long and protect more than ramplates.

Oh, and you could attach the spikes like dish-

put an extender on top of the extedner pointing up. you should be able to put a few more spikes on that way. this one is cleaner than the last one.

Pretty good. You could have the red extenders attached to the black ones holding on the HPZ's to save weight. You could also lower the chassis and stack the control board in the black battery to save more weight.

Going off with what rs said, use a nifty and only use 2 baseplates. A blacks too much for just 2 z teks.

A Supervolt is the maximum power you would need for 2 HP Z-teks, but you can easily get by with a Nifty or even 2 small battery packs if you have to (Brown Wreckluse 2 and many of FB's LW's use 2 small batteries).

That, combined with a smaller chassis and attaching the drive motors off of that first extender (instead of using a second baseplate anchor) will get you weight for more weapons.

Also, since the weapons aren't angled like on FB's Pillar of Fire, they won't all hit at the same time.  The tips will hit first.  So you might consider using iron spikes or axe heads, so the tips don't break as quickly (it would also differentiate it from Pillar of Fire more).

It could be better with the wedges farther from each other, and i'd definitely use 40cm's for these extenders.

Also doesn't the "notch" in the chassis just behind the Supervolt uses weight?

depends. if the top part of the notch is shorter than the height of the bot, it does use more weight. But vice versa it saves weight.

Very nice hammer bot,  looks good at pinning bots both horizontally and vertically, and I like the iron spikes as extender guards.  Only thing I would do is put the ram plates in the center and the razor tips on the sides of the front, because the razors have more total HP, and the sides get hit more often by HS's.

To hit wedges?  To reach under tribars and hit exposed weapon motors?

In any case, great bot.  It's like a side hammer version of Child's Play IV.  I didn't think side hammers could be effective in the LW class, but that one looks pretty effective.  How does it do in battle?

Hmm... if you switch those 22.5 degree angle connectors for 20 cm extenders, you'll have enough weight to use 2 razor tips instead of 1 iron spike on each arm.  Or just leave it as is and use 3 razor tips each.  I don't know if that would be better, but it might be worth testing.
Title: Kill343gs's Comeback Tour
Post by: kill343gs on August 12, 2009, 10:57:09 PM
Its actually the same chassis as my BBEANS3 entry (and my only other LW) My Playstation Gone Wild, which is why the skin says "Sony" on it. The reason it was angled downward was to hit wedges, but I thought he had meant the angle extenders.

I would use 2 razor tips but I ran into the connection point limit and couldn't attach the extra extender... I could mount it off of another baseplate anchor instead of the 20cm that the plow is attached with.

Post by: Clickbeetle on September 06, 2009, 12:47:54 AM
Switching to plastic will not get you 14 kgs.  You might be able to make the hammer arms 20cm longer, but 6 razors is out of the question.

I would say go with plastic if it's better with longer arms though.  If a bot hits the chassis from the front, it means the weapon is gone and you're dead anyway and having DSA won't matter, and if a wedge gets under you, you're also dead anyway and having DSA won't matter.

I like both of those bots.  Quite original.  What's the spiked club for on the MW?

Post by: kill343gs on September 06, 2009, 11:35:01 AM
Inf: one baseplate makes me run into the 7 connection limit.

Spked club was for a little extra defence against hammers and for when it was upside down, but it isn't even there anymore as I've rebuilt it. I'll have pics in a bit as I'm on the other computer.

Anchor > extender facing forward with other APs facing downward > T connector on one of the bottom APs > Snapper2s with the far end attached to the T connector > extender > extender > razors.

you dont need those brackets. just find a way to mount the RADs lower anyway for better undercutting.

The plow doesn't last long enough with the slow spinning weapons to make that the only armor.

I am in dire need of help here, if somebody has a copy of Rolo (my MW popup's) .bot file could they please send it to me in a PM? My computer's hard drive died today and I lost everything. RAW2 is my biggest concern, and Rolo is the only bot I need to build my entries.

You could probably ask Ian; I recall you did compete in two of his tournaments with it, didn't you?  Though those tournaments were a while ago, so he might not have it anymore.

Try switching the plows in the front for wedges.

But the plows make it look cooler! XD

If you do have extra weight, wedges would be nice. And two of your drive motors aren't rotated properly. But still <3. :D

So close that I would have used Irons but they would hit the ground. The drive motors NEED to be turned around because it will not turn at any measurable speed how it is.

Redefining the term heavily armored Vs...

4 Casters...
4 SnowPlows...
2 Lawnmower blades...
4 Hp Drive...
8 Irons...
2 Black Batteries...

The ugliest stock bot to ever fight in the arena, I give you the Battle Slug:

Like reier said, you don't need blades on the wedges.
Maybe instead of 4 plows, in the top row, put one, centered plow, and then you could use weight on something else like weapons

No new bots, but I'm working on reskinning Stratocaster to look more realistic:

The skin itself needs to be reworked because I messed it up, but the lexan is what I was actually focusing on here. Compare it to the old:

If you're really going for realism, you should reskin the baseplate grid so it's not green.

Nice work with the lexan effect though.  Any bot looks better with some plastic blur IMO, because it masks the 2D-ness of the skin.

I have a problem.

I have ten bots built. But they're built in a copy of the game that doesn't appear to have a folder anywhere on this computer. From what I can tell, there are 2 copies of stock RA2 on here. One of which is a clean 1.4 install, the other is a BBEANS AI install. The game I've been building on is another BBEANS AI install, but none of my bot  designs are exporting to it, or my screenshots. I'm losing my mind.

edit: The .exe in that bbeans install opens up the game where I've been building these bots. For some reason it isn't saving my exported bots here, or my screenshots, or my teams. They're all being saved elsewhere...

Title: Re: Kill343gs's Comeback Tour
Post by: Sage on June 29, 2014, 06:34:01 PM
Not so much worrying about offending you as much as not thinking you care about building them better... lol

But hey, what the heck.

The biggest problems with your HS bots are the shoddy extender work and the woefully exposed motors. For example, the RAD iron spinner. You could shift the entire snapperII over a little bit, and use 20cms instead of T connectors (asymmetry ftw). with the weight, you might even be able to get a plow on there! (maybe).
The hammer bot has effectively no range, making it useless.
The mace spinner is wacky as hell, but alas will do literally no damage. Looks insane tho.
If you're going to make a wammer, don't waste so much weight on snapper2 wedges that you literally have two irons as weapons haha
The angled face spinner would be much better if the snowplow was rotated 180. You need SOME sort of wedge.

The last HS reminds me of my playstation gone wild.. haven't changed much over the years have ya? :P

all built off one snapper so it isnt the most stable thing in the world but it gets the job done. also its not a hpz

lol im so bad at this game.

weight is 70.08 and i need another black battery in there and im not rebuilding the chassis to redo the whole setup nonononono. The VS and FS are on RADs.  HS are on regular Zteks. At least I didn't take the easy route and do Sage's wedged poker. Don't ever let anyone tell you I take the easy way out... FS VS HS hybrid...

edit: also kinda sad because i factory reset my old laptop and i dont think i have any of those LWs now D:

You could probably swap the HS and VS motors around for better distribution of damage because a RAD VS setup hits like a wet noodle, but a RAD HS setup can still do some average damage.

Also is the weight 790.8 or 700.8? You could probably swap the irons for razors if you need another black.

the weight is 770.8. I need 30kgs. If I do end up shaving the chassis down I will switch the motors because I see your point

Bot is very cool. Don't let the tediousness of stock stop you !

It does look a bit messy though. If you can clean that it would look even better.

is there a way to move the VS's forward, put the rads parallel to the axle and win 4kg or do the snappers bend sideways instead of forward

you can do it kill !

I forgot how excited I used to get to receive feedback and stuff. Here I am in bed at 4am and I just had to log onto my phone and come check.

Nary, the snappers thst hold the weapon racks are mounted via the back attatchment point so the VS rotate as opposed to lean. When I rebuild it tomorrow I will look I to changing it, although that will really just be for . looks as they actually reach fairly well

As long as its wedges aren't horrible that's going to be a really vicious bot to face.

Wish I could offer more sage (:P) advice but Pwn and Nary have it covered. Just 2WD?

Post by: kill343gs on June 23, 2015, 11:25:16 AM
Just 2wd. I needed as much weight for as many weapon motors as possible.

Edit: also the wedges have absolutely no reason to not be good. They're on standalone snappers further back in the bot and on 140cm extenders. But I'm sure they'll find a reason to be terrible because I built it.

all redid

actually incredibly stable because of the way i wired all the motors, they're all spinning towards the center of the bot and the VS are spinning downwards so it sticks to the ground way better than it should

Wedges are too thin. Entire thing's too thin. Make it wider, don't go overboard and make it too thin horizontally though.

Basically, the bigger it is, the more stable it should be.

Yesssssss.
I would probably move the wedge snappers to be on each side of the middle snappers. like AS said wider might be better on this bot. Also probably make the VS motors go downwards to like trap the bot on the FS and damage the top. youre not gonna pick anything up with rads anyway.

but wow so excited to see this bot rebuilt

My name is deadbeat and my chassis is too short for baseplate mounted HPZ drive.

I think it's 3 black batteries, but it might have been 2. This took too many rebuilds so I can't remember.

That armor setup is so unique looking. Love it. Only worry is that 4 spikes are kinda heavy for a hammer.

Yeah, I had everything blown apart while Effe'ing the plows on and just tried to find ways to use up weight that would look cool/add layers to the armor.

JK 09 is cool AF and I get to keep it.

I haven't tested it because I don't have an AI pack installed, but I honestly think it's one of my better bots.

with HPZs, it looks like a solid bot for sure. have you tried mounting the drive motors externally though, and have you thought about angling the razors?
skin is great too

also i know i'm like 3 months late but i love the hw drum

I haven't tried external drive, I'll probably mess with it some more this weekend or something even though it's too late to update for gtmcs.

Also the drum is from a year and 3 months, but I appreciate it nonetheless
