KaptainK.Rool's Showcase
« on: September 25, 2012, 09:54:21 PM »
It's time to kick @$$ and chew bubblegum, and im all out of bubblegum.

Anyways, this my showcase hoping that I can improve my robots.

Python:

This is one of the most oddest bots I have EVER designed.
I managed to actually stack to anchor extenders and make use of them.
I was going for a lightweight, but..... The motors were a pain to actually
make as the part limit for one connection is I think 7. I know I should probably
sh**can it, but I know I can improve it someway.

Python 2:

The improved Python, Python 2. Its still a heavy, but it holds nicely. I battled
Alien Queen with and beat it on my first try. It has hammers, I was just lousy
and didn't want to fix it.
Also madman3, what do you mean by the angle connecters for the front? If you could show
me, id more than happy to. Thank you to everyone that helped me improve it. If there is ANYWAY to improve my bot, please post!

Not a bad start, The best wheel choice for most bots is always shiny hubs. You also only need 1 black in there and always try to use round extenders by using the different connection points.

You may want to downsize the chassis. There's quite a bit of empty space in there, although if you're going for looks rather than efficiency it's fine. As for your drivetrain, it depends on what weight class you want. You shouldn't really use Reversible Angle Drives on a heavyweight, though you can get away with them on a middleweight and some lightweights can't be built with any other drive motor. If you stick with RADs on a HW you should use at least four. It's not optimal but it will help. Redbirds are better, but weigh almost as much as standard Z-Teks which are even more powerful. Optimally you should use HP Z-Teks for drive, though they are the heaviest motors in the game.

Like ianh05 said, you only need one black on this design. Also those larger wheels tend to not be worth the weight, though the N-12s look nice on a large robot.

Finally... so many angle sections... keep in mind that 20cm tube extenders weigh only 40% as much as angle sections but have the same hitpoints.

Since you're closer to the middleweight weight boundry than the heavyweight one, here's some simple pointers to make your bot both better and light enough to be a MW:

Drop the number of blacks being used to 1. You only need a singled black (or even a nifty, though it isn't recommended) to power 4 motors.
You don't need the wheels on axle mounts at the front. Toss 'em, and instead, use some baseplate anchors to put some round extenders in a reverse V pattern at the front of your bot, which should keep your bot stable and help you trap enemies, while also being lighter.
Try mounting your weapon motors on round extenders going out from the chassis at 45 degrees, using a baseplate anchor (which comes in a 45 degree variety. It should be lighter and will give you more reach.
Use Z-Tek (standard) drive instead of your RADs.
I'd recommend using a smaller chassis. If you want an example, check through Pwnator and Virus Bomb's showcases since I seem to remember them building MW VS recently.

And finally, look at showcase's of pro's for your next bot's inspiration, like Geice's, Sage's, and Pwnator's.

Instead of sledge hammers on the 2nd bot, you would want to use one of the big 3 (maces, irons, razors)
since they are some of the best weapons.
(Also instead of updating the first post, you can just post the bot in the reply, it makes it easier to reply to)

I would suggest using some like blades, plows, brackets, etc. because extender have 100/200hp which is pretty damn weak.

ra2 doesnt detect friction well so even samurai swords (or blades or etc) would work just as well as n12 wheels on axles
How you make Alarm Clock Pizza is:
Step 1: You buy an alarm clock from the store, and then you have to break it and put it in the sauce.
Step 2: Fold the sauce in 5 slices and put it in the dough.
Step 3: Paint the eggs with a pitcher of a clock showing what time you want to wake up and eat pizza for breakfast.
Step 4: Put the eggs in the dough.
Step 5: Make it flat into a round shape and draw the time you want on it.
Step 6: Put some old steel to prevent other peple from stealing it.
Step 7: Make it flat and cut into 60 slices 1 for each minute in 1 our.
Step 8: Put in the oven set the timer to 30048813.2884 seconds and put the temperature on 'Volcano' setting.
Step 9: If you think it is take to long, then get yor alarm clock and set it to now so that it will ring and you can take it out.
Step 10: Take it out uv the uvin wen it is redy and go to bed. In the morning eat pizza and also eat yor hands bi mistake.

You really don't need those N12s up front. Granted, if you're going for a mix of looks and performance you've got a decent balance right now, but for a purely competitive design you'd be better off with blades, samurai swords or even ramplates up front.

As for the weapons, switch out the hammers for a multi-razor/mace/iron spike setup if pure performance is your goal, or just keep them as-is if you're going more for looks.

Python 3(Really still 2, but besides the point.)

Its now a medium weight.(YAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!)
It tore the heck out of Billy Goat Gruffier, but, it got tore up too.
The biggest problem right now is that it flips over easily, something needs to be done
about that. I heard that you can chain zteks together by putting the axles together.
Im trying to see if I can do that, but alas, no luck.

If there is anyway to improve this bot, please post, Thank You!

You might want to angle those motors upward and forward a little, and you're definitely on the right track ;) keep up the good work!

You can lower the chassis, use shines, and raise the baseplate anchor to save weight.
Other than that, you are improving faster than the average newbie, which is good.

I'm guessing that it has problems with flipping forwards, so you can angle the plows backward more to fix the stability.

to chain z-teks, you need to put a 20cm extender after the first z-tek's axle to attach the 2nd z-teks.
and wait..... is that a V3 Billy Goat Gruffer? if it is, you can try upgrading to Starcore V4 Alpha.

Dude.  Do you really think he needs prompting to jump into the next level already?  Take a moment and look at his building experience and let him pwn the crap out of bots that are a reasonable challenge.  Once he is comfortable with that, then going up to the next level is a good idea.

So, I disagree.  Kaptain's skills need a bit more work before he moves up to the next challenge level.  But, he is learning well.  So the potential is there.

Honestly I don't know wtf I wast thinking when I made this, I don't think I could improve it, but you never know.

It's right on the border of middleweight, but I don't think it can get any better unless it gets to heavy, but even then.

I've lost the other bots due to a fire so I'm going to have to make new ones. XD
