Title: J24's Stock Showcase
Post by: J24 on September 03, 2010, 03:57:02 PM
So after repeatedly claiming i suck at stock i decided i should do something about it
so... yeah
haven't decided on a name for this one yet, but comments and criticism would be great

I'll start with the good things:
1) You've built to the weight limit
2) Good wheel choice
3) Not loads of empty space
4) Good weapon choice

Now the bad things:
5) Slow drive, redbirds on a HW? Atleast use z-teks (HP ones preferably)
6) Use the blue snappers to overlap the weapon motors

Get BBEANS AI, there is a wide variety from good to bad bots for you to compete against
Copy absolute chaos into your robot designs, look at the blue snapper & weapon setups used, this is a good example of a very good HS

Like Vert said, J24, get BBEANS AI to start, then get Starcore and PYS. Or just get them all at the same time like me!  :gawe:

Actually, the best bots in BBEANS are better than almost all of SC/Pys
Title: Re: J24's Stock Showcase
Post by: freeziez on September 03, 2010, 05:16:44 PM
I know, I like BBEANS better, but it has all SFTWs. In PYS, all of the bots are average, and some are awesome (except Gauntlet.)

You can use less snappers and less motors (but more weapons on each motor) to gain weight.

In PYS, all of the bots are average,

Average is what you build. Pysc isn't average, neither the old vets.

YA! I DON'T SUCK!

With the bot in the OP, you could eFFe glitch 1 of those Snapper 2s to hold at least 3 of the HP weapon motors.
you would save A LOT of weight that way.

thanks for the advice guys, and im going to rebuild it asap
but first could someone tell me where the blue burst motor is? i cant find it

Have you got the a components in your game? Like the emergency wedge? The blue snapper is an ai component too (although I'm not too sure which stock ai bot uses it)

They can be downloaded from joe's website

Then why was it made?
Title: Re: J24's Stock Showcase

It was semi-unfinished. Note the second AP.

It was semi-unfinished. Note the second AP.
RA2 was exactly like RA1. They rushed the game and ended up with a few "non-existent" files.
And by ""non-existent", I mean the AI parts and the other hidden parts.

unfortunately due to "unforseen circumstances" (my game crashed) i lost all record of my rebuild, so i decided to make a lightweight popup instead
i call it
AVALANCHE-Z

Would probably be best to downgrade the HPZs to redbirds, so that you can get a wedge, & it wouldprobably need a supervolt
You are using DSA aren't you?

Less drive, less razors, a wedge and a supervolt (or Nifty if you really don't have the weight)

More drive.
Title: Re: J24's Stock Showcase
Post by: Gazea2 on September 05, 2010, 05:08:09 AM
That amount of razors on a snapper 2 is overkill. 3-4 would suffice. Also, why are the razors so far apart?

With the weight gained from the weapons, add some stronger drive. Red birds would be better than the RAD drive that you have at the moment. :)

Raise the red birds up a bit so that the shinies are only just touching the ground. You could switch to rubbers as well and shrink the chassis a tiny bit. :)

DP BLUMP!

Canadian Warlord

I haven't been able to stack a black yet, and im going to eFFe the razorz onto the other hammer arm, and probably add some snowplows or something, but i wanted to showcase this now incase i'm doing something horribly wrong (which, knowing me, is extremely likely)

Title: Re: J24's Stock Showcase
Post by: Pwnator on December 15, 2010, 08:12:29 AM
If you've noticed, the maces' meshes barely stick out so they act more like dead weight rather than protection. Use ice picks, rotate them so they protect the joint (not like it matters anyway, but yeah).

I did try countless times, (well 4 actually) then each time gave up. Im probably going to try countless more times tomorrow too
The only reason i used the pre stacked one is so i could test the hammers before i tried again

being stock, the land of complete unrealism, i'm pretty sure there'll be a way to fit armour onto this bot as it is atm, however, i have no idea what it is.

Yea dude, take out the DDTs, attach some armor to the back of the blue snapper (make sure you use the EFFE glitch to make it neat) and then snapper load the armor and extenders off into space so you can put the DDTs back in. Everything can be explain in RA2: Tips and Tricks thread in the tutorials section.

Due to the FRIKKIN RULE OF 7 i could only fit 4 maces on the ram section, so i tried some other weight eating techniques, such as putting blades to protect the extenders, and, well, thats it actually... but anyway, I STILL HAVE 40KGS I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH AND THE SRIMECH WONT WORK! GAH!

(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/79645Canadian Warlord 4.png)

Edit: I think the srimech is underpowered, so i tried countless times to stack in another black, which would also help the weight, but NOOOOO, the game hates me and wont let me stack it!

Title: Re: J24's Stock Showcase

(sorry about the collision meshes, i do all my stock builds with them on and i forgot to take them off when i screenshotted this one)

anyway, nevermind about the srimech
I tried changing the shinys for grannies, not thinking anything special would happen, and now it works as a rammer when inverted, and while working as a rammer, will eventually flip itself back over thanks to centrifugal force
I also switched the wedge for an emergency wedge
there's still just 9kg left though then i can send it to G.K. (although i think i can get rid of 6 of those Kg)

Switch back to Small Wedges, I'd say. I might consider shortening the hammer as well, that's eat up a bit more weight, and it'll probably help it move faster with the smaller radius.

OK, small wedges it is

This is going to take a bit of ai'ing though...

Rly?

Yarly because when it's upside down it needs to know to act as a rammer

anyway i like the way it turned out

Kind of possible.

Surely just making it invertible (in the AI I mean) would do.
I mean with only 6 maces on a HW it's not a very effective rammer, so surely the purpose of the ramming part's just to get it to self right essentially?

Bot looks quite good now. As for the ramming thing, you might want to try something such as BountyHunter.py, though I'm not sure if that only drives forward.

I was planning on using a special AI that I currently forget the name of.

use shinies, flip the plows over so hses don't slide up and knock the arms off, and get rid of 2 of the plows to get more weapons on the ramming rack.

i don't see the point in using those long blades on the wedges, i'm pretty sure that the shortest or second shortest ones would suffice.
