Oh, I see, you built the worst possible kind of things to start off your showcase so whoever has to rebuild your bot is screwed.

Well, i'll give you your due, it's a devious plan.

A) Why are you using normal Z-teks when you clearly have the weight for HPZs
B) MOAR WEAPONS
C)MOAR DRIVE
D)MOAR ARMOUR
E)If i get that bot, i will cry. Twice. I thought i was being mean with A Very Big Block, but nyeh.

It's his BTTB 3 entry.

Also both are in the 256 bot tourney and will most likely do crap.

The first bot actually wouldn't be too bad to rebuild for BTTB; you just need to make a tribar HS.

Huge Bump. Please regard to this bot only.

Here is my bot for Ironbot, Trollestia: Originally a random bot I made, but I rebuilt it for Ironbot.

It uses Aluminum or Titanium Armour(forgot which) because of the restrictions of no DSA or Steel

Can beat quite a few of Starcore AI V3 bots like Neglected Waterbug, Vortex CE and Alien Queen

You should look around the forum for some help. You are way off compared to "modern standards." I mean this in the nicest of all ways. Not much other advice can be given to you at this point.

No square extenders. Ever. Except if it's the 140cm one that weighs only 5 kg.

GRW, Ironbot isn't no DSA, is it?

That's a terrible design for Ironbot, it's going to be fragile as heck.

GRW, you can use DSA.

That doesn't say Double Strength Aluminium

I see no aluminium in that list.

That's DST and DSS, not DSA

Oh well hopefully It will last long in fights, as I don't feel like recreating the whole thing for DSA.

And, I did not know DST and DSS existed, thought there was only DSA

No offense, but I see it getting an unlucky draw against a 36 HS, and it being torn to pieces, maybe surviving one fight, before dying miserably in the next.

Each fight is only 30 secs long, bot and good HS or rammer would break those extenders right away.

Cruel to be kind, I would improve it or not enter, as being called a SFTW by everyone is not pleasant.
Especially if a newbie enters.

I might just fix up the extenders, for an update. As I believe I can't send in a new bot.

DST and DSS (also double strength plastic and good old DSA) are on most of the stock AI bots.  All of them except EMERGENCY I believe.

I didn't want anyone entering Big Dog with its giant double-strength steel chassis.  That would be difficult to KO in 30 seconds with a fresh bot, all but impossible with a damaged one.

But DSA is okay.

My first Popup attempt. Popin' Bottles

I know it is underweight and uses Ballasts(Need them or otherwise the bot would keep flipping itself over

Use HPZ's and rubbers for maximum low ground clearance.

Don't use angle extenders.

Front protection is needed otherwise HS will tear it apart

You only need 2 blacks IIRC

That is awful honestly.

You have too many razors for each DDT and for a HW popup in general, it's AGONIZINGLY SLOW FOR A POPUP (needs 4WD HPZ drive, at the very least 2WD), remove ballasts, static wedges are like nothing, you have too much batteries and it is unprotected, meaning it will get KOed fast.

There are some good things that you have incorporated, it has few empty space, it has the correct weapons, good wheels, good batteries you know how to make weapon racks, you know mostly what components to use... but despite all these good things it's still a horrible popup by today's standards.

Do not take this as a personal attack cause it isn't. Your robots are just still newbie-level, that is all.

There really isn't much to say.

Just don't go around trying to beat popups with it.

it's decent at best. I would put the Pink back in honestly, gives it more power and fills up those last 13 KG
Title: Re: GRW's Stock bots
Post by: Clickbeetle on March 04, 2012, 07:12:29 PM
Yeah there's no point taking out the pink if you're not going to use the weight for something else.

This really only needs 1 Supervolt for power; you could even get by with 1 Nifty if you had to.  Taking out a pink and a black and then shrinking the chassis would get you 40 kgs at a conservative estimate... which is enough for either MOAR WEAPONS or a wedge.  A wedge would be good if you could make it long enough.

Here is the fix to it, now it is invertable too

Getting there, but don't use the long pole spikes (they get in the way of the axes and aren't very good weapons anyway) and a long single wedge in the middle (see X-Press from Ironbot) would be better than that awkward double wedge setup there.  Double wedges on a single burst motor never seem to work well.

Now I have a small problem, it is underweight now :/

Looking good.  Any way to fit more axe heads on there?  Possibly add a third baseplate anchor?

Great!  There's a few more things you could tweak (small wedges are usually better than Emergency wedges) but that bot is almost as good as it's going to get now.

Also I don't think I've ever seen such prompt responses to building advice.    *secretly wonders if I told GRW to give the bot N12 wheels and ninja stars, if he would do it*

*actually that would look kinda cool*
