Getting back into the swing of things. Made this for my challenge with RPJK, Nightcracker and smashysmashy. 1 black w/ cb stacked into it, RAD drive, 4 razors and jumps whenever the hammer is fired.

Ok, that'll be easy to fix. What about the jumping? I have a feeling that a DDT might be too powerful.

Not sure why I am helping my opponent, but you can make your chassis even smaller. In order to create smaller chassis you have to grab the height slider and quickly slide it down, past the bottom. The slider won't move below the bottom, but if you look in the preview you see the bot height will. Release the slider quickly afterwards.

Just try and retry until the chassis is just as high as the black.

Yeah, I know. This was pretty much a draft bot thingy. Another way is to lift the slider all of the way up and then click a pixel below the bar.

1 more razor on there + a moar angled hammer. It still jumps, though and can't get a solid hit because of it. :/

No, you need to angle the razors too. And try a less powerful burst motor or stabilizers for your bot if it jumps too much.

Well, I removed a razor and added some supports around the back of the bot. I made the arc of the DDT smaller and it doesn't jump as much now... I might try a snapper or two and see how that turns out.

Segment the long arm and angle it so teh razors are pretty much vertical when the come down

So here's the deal on hammers. The only bot types they can beat are HS and rammers (and maybe popups if the popups have popupAI.py so they don't hit weapons). But anyway, they only way for hammers to even beat those types is to have a wedge AND a trapper. You want to slide under bots and you want to keep them from sliding up more.

I would suggest a S2 burst motor, less razors, no bottom plow, and a wedge of some sort. Don't know if it's possible, but as it is now a DDT will be way too powerful for the little grip the bottom plow has on the bot.

Why? that's completely pointless and removes weapon reach. Having them hit diagonally is fine.

Thanks for the advice, Sage. I used it and came up with this:

VERY annoyed with this. For starters, the snapper 2 is showing through the plow and I don't have the weight to make the plow come out another 20 cms. I only have two razors on it so it is VERY under-powered in the weapons department and it just isn't great...

The insides are the same as before except with an anchor at the front in front of the snapper II. The weight is 247.9. At least it doesn't jump any more.

That's because you're wasting weight with the Snapper II. You just need 2 anchors - one pointing upwards to hold the weapon burst and another pointing towards the front for the wedge&plow burst.

I've pretty much given up on the hammer after this attempt.

Instead, I upgraded my old side hammer:

Managed to sload the axles of the snappers away and fit some casters on there.

That hammer looks quite good and it could do well but if you enter the side Hammer you'll be destroyed by my LW VS.

side hammer looks at least decent. But the hammer is way sloppy and doesn't need a black if you are really persistent with trying to fit all the extra frontal stuff on.
