Dreamcast's Showcase
« on: October 20, 2016, 09:29:23 PM »
*Insert red spiral forming behind a white wall here*

I built a popup. I haven't built many LW popups before (or wedges really). Is your wedginess altered by the wheels being so high the model doesn't rotate?

That is one of the factors, although it's more on the burst motor used and the amount of pressure placed on the wedge.

As for the bot, the top iron is not needed since it doesn't have enough drive to completely go under a bot. Ditch it and go for a shallower chassis wedge. Better yet, upgrade the drive to at least redbirds.

That's a pretty clean bot though, keep it up.
Clash Cubes 1 - Grey Matter (Runner-Up)
King of Karnage - Sideshow Freak (Runner-Up, Best Engineered)
Rust In Pieces - Paper Cut 3 (Grand Champion, Most Dangerous Bot)
Wheely Tag Tournament - Ion Thruster (Grand Champion, along with Ounces' DiSemboweLment)
UK vs USA - Dark Striker (Grand Champion)
Rust In Pieces 2 - Claymore (Runner-Up, Favourite Bot)
BBEANS 6 - Infection 4 (Runner-Up)
RA2 Team Championships - Serious Business, Skeksis (Runner-Up, along with Scrappy, S_M, and Badnik)
RA2 Team Championships 2 - The Other Stig (Runner-Up, along with Scrappy, S_M, Badnik, 090901, and R1885)
Replica Wars 3 - Abaddon (Runner-Up, Luckiest Bot)
BroBots - wheebot & yaybot (Runner-Up)
Robo Zone 2 - Dipper (4th place, Survival Champion, & Best Axle Bot)
ARBBC - The Covenant (3rd place, BW Rumble Winner, Most Feared BW)

I threw this together.

It has DSA (I believe) and redbirds downgraded the DDT to a snapper 2.

Edit: Testing yesterday showed this bot to havok about half the time. I'll be testing some modifications to mitigate this issue.

I think a snapper will be plenty for a LW. Although if you could find a way to get your DDT back that would be pretty dope.

ZodiaK wannabe. Learned some lessons about VS balance.

Poker rammer hybrid with 2 HPZs. It's packing what feels like 200 kgs at the front and it ends up unbalanced. Too much McDonalds I guess.

on the poker, angle some of your irons downwards or put icepicks on the side like you did for the zodiak clone to help balance it better

Someone playing stock :DDDDDD

Your VS really isn't stable enough. Those icepicks eat up a ton of weight and don't do enough to warrant you spending that weight on them. Your supports need to be farther out. And you're gonna need your weapons to spin as close to the ground as possible, else the popups are gonna have a field day.

The poker is decent I'd say, but it's gonna get rekt by anything with a wedge unless you put a better wedge on it yourself.

Fixing the poker up. I'm brainstorming a new chassis up, pics may come later.

I also threw together this HS. It's plain...

Wondering how the weapon meshes overlap.

You can press F12 to see the collision meshes.

Can you post the insides?

What I meant is that I wasn't 100% sure how the maces were in combat. With more tests I now notice that the maces can hit.

I thought that chassis looked a bit odd. You can effe both weapon motors and the drive onto a single blue snapper, and shrink the chassis. You can get redbird or z-tek drive by doing that, or maybe get 3 claws per arm instead.

Shrunk enough? It has redbird drive. I tried Z-teks, but it was more unstable.

Try to make your drive wider. You don't need that T connector as well. You can also put the snow plow on the snapper to save more weight by getting rid of the BA and shrinking the chassis more.

It's certainly getting better though! It's good to see someone new picking up the stock fundamentals.

You're definitely getting there. It reminds me an awful lot of my old MW Wild Fury, which is on the bot exchange if you want to take a look and see how I put it together. It probably isn't much different but I think I ended up mounting the drive on the baseplate for added stability.

Built a Thacker Rammer hybrid with dice. Probably broke some of the rules though.

It's incomplete. The next version will have a shrunk chassis, so please don't chafe your pants over it. Wondering what else could be modified.

The newer Chassis and wheels seamed to get the blunt of damage in testing. According to my (kinda crap) short-term memory.

I got the plow on and I also decided to drop the claws. Does well in testing but still loses to anti-HS bots.

edit: never mind i'm dumb and didnt see the other six maces

looks pretty good, you could shrink the chassis a little back where the anchors are and up where the snapper is but idk what you could do with the weight. maybe a weapon breaker like fury has?
