That looks almost exactly like the first bot I ever made.

Fatboy wheels generally aren't that good, and neither are fire axes. As Sparkey says (albeit perhaps a bit bluntly), a moderator can move this into the correct board (Stock Showcase) before I go into too much detail. You should, however, tell us what weight and armour it is, as well as a screenshot of the insides.

Red extenders, though, good choice. :gawe:

Wrong section, should be in Stock Showcase
sorry didn't see it will keep in mind for future reference
It's quite alright :)

In terms of your bot:

I rarely use axes, due to them having what's known as Normals (meaning that only the blade part can do damage, as opposed to the whole weapon), so I'm not sure what to say other than show you the stats for each kind of axe (I don't know the weights or hitpoints though)

Component   Normals   P   C   D           E
Axe Head           Yes          0.4   0.9   163.56   13630
Fireman's Axe   Yes          0.4   0.9   163.56   12582
Battle Axe   Yes          0.4   0.9   163.56   8178

Where P is Piercing and C is Concussion, D is Damage Potential and E is Efficiency

If you need any more info on weapons, you should check out the table at the bottom of http://beetlebros.gametechmods.com/ra2stats.htm (http://beetlebros.gametechmods.com/ra2stats.htm)

I've always been told that the best kind of wheel to use is the Shiny Hub or the ones with Grannyguard (can't remember the name of them, someone help here)
Title: Re: doublestrand's Showcase
Post by: NFX on July 23, 2011, 07:36:02 AM
Shiny Hubs are best if you are building to tight weight constraints. Rubber Wheels are best if you want low ground clearance (on a Z-Tek), and it may help you improve your wedges. Slipperbottom wheels (Grannies) are best for invertibility on Snapper-loaded Horizontal Spinner robots.

Use shinies, moar razors, hammers aren't worth anything in RA2, use DSA (don't bother with the armor tab),  http://beetlebros.gametechmods.com/ra2techs.htm (http://beetlebros.gametechmods.com/ra2techs.htm).

EDIT:
hammers aren't worth anything in RA2

One of the simplest, but best glitches you can utilise is the Double Strength Aluminium (DSA) glitch. It's basically the default armour for the robot, and you can obtain it by not clicking the Armor button at all when you're making the chassis. It gives you armour that is the same weight as aluminium, but is stronger than steel.

Oh word.....

Change to zteks and lower the chassis as much as possible and use shineys

Are you trying to make a HW or MW?
Title: Re: doublestrand's Showcase
Post by: Bubbleman on July 23, 2011, 07:42:18 AM
First off, read this: https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php/topic,5019.0.html (https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php/topic,5019.0.html)

And this: http://beetlebros.gametechmods.com/ra2techs.htm (http://beetlebros.gametechmods.com/ra2techs.htm)

And my advice is:
No fire axes
no fatboys
if you dont click the armour tab, you get an armour that is as light as aluminium but stronger than steel. use DSA (said armour)
crop your pictures.
dont put two seperate weapons on, put one strong one instead.
build to the weight limit.
use shiny hubs
use HPZ-techs on a Heavyweight,
use supervolt batterys.

If i think of more i'll edit this post.
Hope this helped, and welcome!

Regards,
Bubbleman.

Upgrade the battery to a BlackVolt and don't put stuff near the back of the bot, the back almost never does anything. Above all, you have another 386 kg of unused weight, use it.

A few tricks:
DSA Armour
Very underweight.
Not enough weaponry
Needs better motors.
Piston should be at front
Use different weapons.
Add wedges to defeat popups. Pop ups are very dangerous bots with powerful weaponry to target the underbelly of a bot.

 :welcome

One of the most important things to learn is what weapons to use. Generally, only use razor tips, iron spikes, and maces, axe heads can also be good for ramming purposes, but nothing else. Good weapons to use for your hammer would be razor tips

Another important rule is the KISS principle (Keep It Simple, Stupid), it is generally easier just to focus on one weapon type for your bots, until you get better at building :D

Don't use sawblades in stock. Ever.
Upgrade the wedge to a small wedge, and build to the weight limit.

Title: Re: doublestrand's Showcase
Post by: Mr. AS on July 27, 2011, 06:56:19 PM
Put multiple razors on one baseplate anchor by means of extenders.
And put the wedges on a DDT so it can act as a stimech if the bot gets flipped over.

It's Spiny Norman. =D

Generally, all your weapons should face the front unless you're an SnS/Thwack or a Juggler. Try to use round extenders to achieve that, square ones are wasted weight.

TC's latest bot reminds me a lot of this other robot I made, but never showcased.
Basically I called it "Triceratops", and just made the whole thing covered in razors, pole-spikes, etc...

ALSO, I spy Fluttershy on that robot.
Making your own decals, TC?

may as well call this a hedgehog, i liked the saws i had on before even though people said they are not to good it made a bot fly for a wile whats not to like  :D
well the decal didn't work as planned and made a tiny fluttershy and black and blue everywhere, which now covers the bot.

Its because saws do little to no real damage. If you want something that cuts, you might as well use either a tribar or a disk and but Irons, Razors, or Maces on it.

RA2 Decals can only be a specific size.
Also, if you want some pre-made MLP stickers and junk, my skin pack has them.[/shameless plug]

That, or if you have Photoshop, I could show you how to make them. Its very easy.
