I had a discussion with click over it 3 days ago and this is what he said

Quote
1. You can make as many chassis as you want on one bot. You could make a bot with 100 of them if you wanted.

2. If you use regular drive with regular wheels, then only the first chassis will move. The rest will remain stationary. In order to make the other chassis move, you either need to use servo drive or use non-wheels on spin motors (basically make crawlers). They will all move independently as long as you "attach" them to component 0 (the invisible point the chassis is attached to).

All the extra bots use shared battery and air power.

AI'ing will be a pain. It could be done though. You would need to attach smart zones to the "extra" bots and use those for navigation--only the primary bot would be able to use regular AI tactics.

Also, depending on how many extra bots you have and whether or not they have active weapons, you may need more than 9 controls. Fortunately, apanx has a very nice tutorial on that somewhere on the forum.

So a massive swarm of little antweights is feasable? That would be a pretty interesting concept, up there with HOJ  and ATom.
Avoid the beam and you won't get hit!

so this what click has done (robot as component) won`t work? :(

the one you suggestet is the "version" of clusterbot fighting i already know.
When you 'addExtra...' a geomobject, the python won't control it at all, for steering or weaponry. It seems that if the geomobject is not present at _init_(start), then it is not manipulatable for whatever reason.
So I can't see coding any 'added' geomobjects to 'do' anything. But maybe someone else knows a way or can figure it out..

Note: Added objects, though, are at least 'recognizable' by the python coding... because what ever object is 'added' can also be 'removed' via py.
.
Input is appreciated. :)

Let's not go there... please.
-----------

A thought:
1. We could make an individual gmf, in which there were several separate sets of little semi-transparent balls (low-vertice count), like sets of hailstones.
2. Then several of these individual gmfs could be created and then given different 'x' and 'z', locations; (and even 'y' for different heights and rates of falling hailstones).
3. Then in-game, for what ever condition, each gmf could be inserted (addExtra), one after another,... causing a hailstorm.
4. Then after a certain time of its hailstones sitting on the ground that gmf would be 'removed',... and then recycled (to avoid excess lag).

(Maybe give some 'mass' to them to cause effect/damage.)
(Maybe add lightning to randomly strike bots, for affect...)
.
Input is appreciated. :)

can I please scream ? lol trying out the BBEANS AI it was a case of What If ? what if I entered the robot I built before my entry Shock Therapy? would it fare any better ? or worse ?

this is the bot im talking about... my first showcased heavyweight and many a member picked it to pieces with its many flaws (and why wouldnt you?)

Quote from: JoeBlo;27654
the heavyweight - Infinite One 794.6

(Image removed from quote.)

Vertical Spinner with 12 Maces across the 2 tribars HP Z-Teks for the drive

so I took it up against Sandstorm (my first round loss) and wouldn't you know won 2-0, the second match ending in 15 seconds

trying it for fun stuck it up against AC,

thats right first try, unbalanced AC and sent it straight oota within 11 seconds :shock::shock::shock: yet still

the robot which I thought was one of my worst defeated one of the most feared bots in the tournament ??? (guess using it n00b Warz is out of the question :P)

in conclusion thats why I wish to could turn back time :P

The thing is, were both bots AI'd or no? Human driving is better than AI driving in every way, shape and form.

I didn't bother AIing the thing but I did just drive straight into AC as I was expecting a quick death, I doubt it would happen again (or at least in any other arena) just saying as I nearly sent click that robot rather then my actual entry

Unless I'm the driver (or Sage). Kidding! :P

And I couldn't beat MIDF when I'm driving ItI. Maybe my driving sucks that much. XD

I didnt go tactics, I wasnt expecting to win I just drove it straight into AC like the blind AI does

I actually used to be a really good driver on RA2 but after so long of not really playing im not as good, I used to use the storm 2 replica in the RW arena and trick the AI into falling in the pit XD

I dont normally use this.. is it QFT ? I think so, after running so many AI matches every time I start up exhibition I am just in the natural habit to click computer player even if I intend on driving myself :P

QFT. It became a habit ever since I started testing my team submission for NAR AI. XD

The Infinite is better than Shock Therapy because it has more reach.  The main reason ST lost to SandStorm was because the weapons were too short to hit it.
