Decided to play a little bit of Stock RA2 today and so i decided it was time to make a showcase.
Xergy

This is my very first bot in Stock RA2 (since i first played the game back in '09) so its going to be crap, compared to everyone else's.

Not bad! but if you stack the batteries, you should be able to move the snapper towards the center, and save weight without all those extenders. And maybe switch to HP drive.
-
I had been trying to stack the two Black Batts but no matter how much i tried i just couldn't.
Im going to redo it later on to make it smaller at the back (Just enough to fit the motors and the Batts), im going to try and stack the batts, and then either add some more weapons or upgrade to HP drive.
-
i think you can make the chassis lower.
-
The chassis had been lower down but then i couldn't fit the DDT's in because they where too big.
Should i make it lower and not have the chassis wedge as long, or leave it be?
-
Since its just a MW, and you arent using HPs, you only really need 1 Black.
-
Wouldn't it last longer in a match with two though?

Pop-ups can generally KO a bot in 10 seconds flat.
-
Not actually tested this out to see how damaging it is.
Would it be better of to get rid of one batt and then replace it with more weapons?
-
Although I would normally recommend having 2 blacks here, I want to suggest having 1 black, normal Z-teks, and then either more weapons, chassis armor, or an extra wedge to add with the leftover weight, just for the sake of staying as far away as possible from the typical Pyscolone popup. (which you might want to try later on for chassis management - it's a popup with HP Z-tek drive, 2 blacks, rubber wheels, a DDT wedge, two DDT weapon motors, 8 razors, and...a control board :P)
-
I think im going to go with more weapons as the setup i have right now is not enough.
It does very little damage (compared to most other pop-ups) and also the wedges suck so im going to have to remake them.
Quick Question Fracture, should i leave the chassis the same or rebuild the whole bot from scratch?
-
Chassis rebuilding is generally a very good habit to get into, so it's best to start early now so you don't become one of those "But I don't WANT to rebuild the chassis!" people in the future. Here, you can rotate the battery 90 degrees so it's vertically in line with the Z-teks rather than horizontal, getting you a narrower back. The front may also have to be widened to either make room for a second Snapper2 on the other side, or to place the snapper you have now in the middle if you don't know snapper loading. Finally, the height should be exactly 5 clicks above the bottom, that is to say going to the very lowest height and dragging the slider up so it moves up a tiny bit 5 times. You'll know you've got it right if you can fit a Z-tek but not a vertical Snapper2. If that results in the DDTs not fitting, then I think having a shallower chassis wedge/longer chassis would save more weight than just making the entire thing taller. Good luck!

You should really make it lower.
-
Five "clicks" high is the minimum to attach Z-Teks to the baseplate, so that should be what you aim for.

Definitely go for the gold, make it as compact/strong as you can.
For stacking:
Go to Overview ---> Zoom ALLL the way in right over top of the battery ---> Go back to Components and select the battery without putting the mouse in the build screen to send the zoom back out ----> Place the battery, if you did it right the super zoom in makes stacking super easy. Just move it a few pixels around the first battery.

Cheers for the Stacking Tip, will come in useful.
I rebuilt Xergy but its sill very bad. Wedges still suck and when it does get under them it doesn't do very much damage.
Although i am powering 2 DDT's and 2 Normal Z-Teks with only a single Black Batt.
I contemplating getting rid of some weaponry and shortening the wedge again and then upgrading to 2 Black's.
Is this Wise or Dumb?

more the razors back more?
-
Did you mean "Move" the razors back more?
-
You have them sticking pretty far out of the chassis, maybe most them back more so bots can get up easier.
-
It definitely needs HPZ drive
-
Its not that they don't get far enough up the wedge, its that they don't get on the wedge at all.
-
Shrink the chassis to air-tight. Use 3 DDT's or at least put the Green Snapper in the middle of the bot, it will help the wedge. Leave about 1 or two pixels on each side of the battery for stacking. Popups are pretty generic, so if you need help putting the puzzle together there are plenty of good showcases here to look around.
-
Ok so this is Xergy in it's current state.

Change to HPZs
-
You have enough weight, change to HPZs.
Empty space as well, but overall improvement.
-
Chassis "wedges" should have a depth of three at the absolute maximum. I use a little more than two. Anything else is just wasted weight. Keep shrinking that bytch and make it even MORE compact...this a process you will need to master.
