Title: 1988945's slightly naff stock robots
Post by: 1988945 on August 05, 2021, 06:05:50 PM
Hey all! a while ago, ~2015 if i remember correctly, i joined this website and posted some robots!

...im posting some more

(my computer at the time broke a while ago, and everything was lost on that computer, i remember reading a rule about having multiple accounts being disallowed on the same ip but i assume im on a different ip)

The first robot i built doesnt have a name or proper paintjob yet but i thought i might aswell showcase it anyhow

middleweight
double strength aluminium armor
battery: 1 supervolt
weapons: 9 razor tips
weapon motor: 3 hp z-teks attached to 1 hp z-tek
drive motor: 2 regular z-teks

before the weapon turns on

the wheels are purposefully wonky because;

when the weapon motors are turned on, they sway everything on the snapper ii slightly. its left wonky at the start so when the weapon motors activate, the wheel motors sway to the centre position

Welcome to GTM! These days the various RA2 discord servers are more active than this old forum I think, so if discord is your jam it might be worth joining through the invite link on GTM's home page.

It's always nice to see stock bots! To embed your images in your post, put your cursor where you want it to be in your text and click the 'Insert Attachment X' link next to the file in the attachments section of the post editor.

I haven't played stock in so long that I can't even remember enough to give you any solid advice, I'm afraid. Are you able to lower the chassis height at all by stacking the control board in the battery? If so it might be worth a shot, even though that stack is a pain in the ass IIRC (I mean you could just cheat with RA2CF but where's the fun in that ;))

Hey Badger! I remember you from my post all the way back in 2015! ty for the help haha i had no idea how to embed, fixed it now

I'll give discord a look!

it's been such a while since i've played this game i didnt even remember/realise i could stack a control board into a supervolt aha, i'll try that!

i've spent the past couple days or so building an antweight so im already used to pain in the ass stacks haha 🙃

i successfully stacked the control board into the supervolt! my first time every doing this stack, you were right, it was a pain in the ass 🤭

although i recently remembered a thing called snapper loading! and im wondering if it'll be conducive to making a much better bot, although idk how much free weight i'll gain & im not sure how stable a particularly more compact design will be, it's worth a try! i hope inconsistent uploads doesnt annoy anyone/make this showcase die though :/

i'll post the results here & on discord

meanwhile, here's that antweight i was talking about, i've been meaning to edit it because of one major issue buuuuuuuuuuuut...

antweight
plastic armour
battery: 1 small pink
weapon(s): 2 axes
drive/weapon motor: 1 hp z-tek

[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]

its paintjob isnt finished either, nor does it have a name, but this is an antweight flying trinity

[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]
internals

its one big issue
[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]
the weapon, rather quickly, glitches itself past the wall, judging from what i've observed, this issue can be affected by the weapons attached to the burst piston, some weapons find an easier time not getting stuck behind a wall, but make the robot barely able to spin for a second or two, others let the robot spin very well, but can glitch behind the wall very quickly, so its just finding a good balance between the two, i'll make a few edits & also post the results here & on discord!

i am back! and i have made more robits :d i've finally gotten back into this game, i love it so, ive a lot of robot ideas so hopefully you guys will see more in the future!

please bare with... i've forgotten how to send images on here   :baffled:

for starters i've upgraded my antweight, it's a successful (if a bit unreliable) flying trinity, still no name and paintjob though unfortunately hahaha

[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]

plastic armour
z-tek drive
1 razer, 1 iron

[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]

i would show you guys it spinning but my computer isnt nearly good enough to run a screen recorder, trust me though it does spin haha

[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]

this glitch is common amongst all flying trinities (at least the ones i've tested) and i've managed to reduce the amount of times it happens to 1/5 goes, with alterations to the weapon layout and the red extenders i call a "rollcage" that help prevent the glitch

[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]

i also made a new antweight, Eighty-Six

plastic armour
3 razer tips
redbird drive
1 small battery

i did, at first, make it with double-strength aluminium armour (or w/e it's called) and 2 razer tips but i found the damage output difference was worth the drop in survivability

[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]

you'll have to ignore the terrible paintjob, i cant paint very well at all 😂

[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]

i like the cute dodgy wheels lol (it still drives good)

[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]

you can see the 3 razers stacked together here

[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]

i did think to make a second version immediately after i completed this one, it would've had 4 razers, but i cant quite figure out how to do that or if it's even possible (obv with redbird drive still intact)

i made my first beetleweight  :gawe:

(i promise i wont just make small robots i do have heavyweight ideas lmao)

Stroke of Genius (temporary name) i called it that because i felt like a genius when i designed a part of it 😂

it's a fullbody spinner! ...i think that's what these things are called (no proper paint job yet)

[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]

plastic armour
2 razers
2 pink batteries
z-tek weapon motor
reversible angle motor drive
174.7 weight

[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]

i dont know if anyone else found this stack, if so then i discovered a new stack!  control board in the bottom of an upwards-pointed z-tek

[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]

i had to make pretty extensive use of axle loading (i think thats what it's called) to build this contraption

[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]

the hitbox of a z-tek axle is so ridiculous! 😡

[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]

this little thing underneath i call a "sled" is what allows the sawblade wheels to make it move forward and backwards, the particular size & angle of every single extender has been specifically chosen, this "sled" configuration allows for the most reliable drive IMO

[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]

it's relatively underpowered (just 2 pinks to power the whole lot) and underweaponed but i think that's forgivable considering what it is haha

voila

just because i can doesnt mean i should

i know i said i would build bigger robots but i made an antweight fullbody spinner  :laughing

[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]

2 razer tips
redbird weapon drive
1 angle motor "wheel" drive
plastic armour
123.7 weight
1 pink battery

[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]

i did my new stack on a redbird

[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]

i am the axle loading empress!!!

its not a great paint job but its the best ive done andimhappywithit  :gawe:

[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]

racing car schematics

[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]

wew

[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]

i themed the whole thing around racecars... im a bit obsessed with racing at the moment, the front stabiliser thing is like the front wing of an f1 car, i chose the colours specifically so

For the AW rammer you can try adding 7kg then find out how much weight you need to shave from the chassis to get back to 125. If you can't get it done then it most likely means you've maxed out that design's potential.

that chassis is pretty airtight unfortunately :/

made an update to my beetleweight fullbody spinner

[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]

i decided to change the weapons out, upon testing i found the razer tips to be very fragile, so i changed them out for iron spikes

[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]

small change to the slay on the bottom to accommodate for the extra 2kg, change in drive stability barely noticeable, if at all

Eighty-six, my rammer, had a problem, it was slow, and often did less damage than other rammers.  yesterday i thought of a way to make a better sequel, Eighty-eight

[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]

plastic armour
2 razer tips
redbird drive
2 pink batteries (stacked)
124.8 weight

[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]

im still no good at paint jobs 😂

[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]

i tested out its damage capability with this

[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]

other robots, despite having more weaponry (for example 3 razer tips) performed worse (damage in the 300s per hit on average) due to their worse (angle motor) drive, my robot however averaged damage in the 400s due to its greater drive power, powered THIS time by 2 batteries instead of 1

i changed the extenders from black to red because the mitsubishi logo is red

I love that someone is still playing stock. There's some cool builds here!

IIRC you're able to stack redbirds if you glitch the axles away (someone fact check me on this pls) - that might get you a small enough chassis for DSA?

i believe badger is correct but god it has been so long. i'm just excited you made more robits
