You know how sometimes when you log in the forum asks you to solve math problems like 1+1 or 4+2 in order to prove you are a human not a spambot. Well what if the math problems were higher level math so only smart kids or older members could log in if they solve the problem. It could be something like Geometry or Trig problems because last time I checked 12-13 year olds don't know that kind of math. Go ahead and shoot me down because it is a hairbrained idea and if ACAMS makes it a Calculus level math I wouldn't be able to log in. :P
-
But then most of the population of GTM would be obliterated.
-
I would be locked out, plus I have never had to answer any questions.
Almost everybody knows 2+2=5 and that keeps the dumeys out.

fixed
-
Too easy, people could find the answer on the internet by using google.
However, we could do a RA2 quiz...
-
What topics did you have in mind? I don't consider myself a "noob" but I'd be in trouble if I were quizzed on the bots from Starcore or DSL AI.
-
Make it like the normal stock and DSL game, no AI packs. Just questions of components and general knowledhe of the 2.
-
No, asking for DSL knowledge is just stupid, and it is easy to see why.
Asking for stock knowledge, yes. Though it will not stop n00bs from entering the forum.
-
Ah now were going to prevent the form from getting more members.

Personality is not related to intellegence

What's better: A forum full of n00bs who don't give a hoot about RA2 (not saying its gotten to that point, but I fear it might) or a forum with a certain group of members who really like this game?
-
The thing is, there's people out there who want to join the forum to get some knowledge of RA2 before they download it, and are going to have no experience of it beforehand. Plus, we'll probably alienate some of the eager novices, maybe guys like Wacky Bob and possibly RedAce. I can't remember if they'd got RA2 before they came here, but I'm just using them as an example. Hell, I'd have joined this place before getting RA2 if I knew I could get downloads here, but I managed to get a copy from Mediafire instead. I'm just saying we should give every new member the benefit of the doubt, unless they disappear after one post, or just end up being complete trolling douchebags. Then we can kick them out if we feel like it.

We could do some sort of quiz but there is a problem-
*cough*Google*cough*
Or even Youtube...
Oh and some people might not have the game but want it and saw us and think we have it.

But we do have it, right everyone?
-
Thanks to torrents, yes I does have it.
Do what you want 'cause a pirate is free, you are a pirate

Hmm... OK.
1. It won't noob-proof the forum, it will only raise the minimum IQ/education level of its members (and behavior =/= intelligence)
2. Do you REALLY want to be forced to solve a high-level math problem every time you log in?
3. Yeah, I thought not.
4. A simple minimum age for registration would work better (but still has issues, notably that a lot of members on here now are already under 13 and what do we do about them?)
-
"Noob-Proofing" the forum is both outside our means and outside the realm of good ideas.
Age limit - People can lie very easily. Claim they're 13 or something like that, and just like that the system fails.
Besides, what you call noob proofing I call a destructive tendency. It is incredibly prejudiced to assume that every new person who is under a certain age is a noob, just as it's prejudiced to assume that someone who knows nothing of RA2 is going to be a headache for all of us. Isn't that what this forum is for, to learn?
If we implemented any sort of noob proofing measure, ESPECIALLY the ones mentioned in this thread, who knows what kind of future we might be destroying. I know for a fact that I was 12 when I signed up, and I knew nothing about RA2 that's worth mentioning. I've had to say this a million times now, but we were ALL noobs once, even if it wasn't here on GTM. We will not be closing off registration to anybody.
-
It's better just to tighten the banning procedures than n00b proofing.
Despite many 12 years old here, only a few really stands out as having destructive behaviors. It's easier just to to use the ban hammer on them.
And surely you guys can't expect me to remember how to do Trigonometry.
-
Yeah, the best method to get rid of n00bs is simply the banhammer. A "n00b filter" can be bypassed by a somehow cunning member.

+1 for the banhammer.
-
+1 as well.
-
+1 as well.
But also +1 for some nice trig, or binomial.

If I NOOB Proofed the Forum, there would only be 3-4 members left!

There would be moar than that...

I thought there are more than 4 mods/admin combine.
ACAMS, Click, Trovaner, Kill343gs, Joeblo, Naryar, Pwnator, does that mean at least 3 of them has to be a NOOB?
-
I'm still a noob at heart.

Noob bots make tournaments interesting.

Gonna start wth yourself?
