Title: How can I make so my forum profile ignores the threads I don't want to see ?
Post by: Naryar on September 30, 2010, 07:17:57 AM
Can i, and if so, How can i mark a thread so it doesn't appears on my "unread posts since last visit" list ? I don't have a lot of time to spend on RA2 and gametechmods now, and when i log in in the morning, i see roughly 3 new pages of unread threads but generally half of it have nothing to do with RA2 and are not interesting :P

Before someone proposes this, I am not interested in ignoring users though, because it's not a really good function.

EDIT: *longest thread title ever*

not possible from what I know... unless...

you smile sweetly at ACAMS because there is some "Ignore Topic" mods for SMF that you can make sections not appear in unread posts.. but I believe this will effect all of us

really the only way is to ingore it yourself

if its any comsolation you can click the minus symbol next to each sections heading to hide it and I believe it also hides the unread (Firestorm) pictures too once unhidden

You click Show unread posts since last visit and check to ignore the ones you don't want to see next time.

Then you can manage them in your profile.

I don't have any ignore thread button :P

Edit: Profile you say ? I'll have a closer look at it.

Everybody, even Somebody should be able to see the checkboxes now.

I even enabled the Ignore Topics feature that you can control in your profile.

EDIT: You can not ignore Politics, and must read my political opinion, as it is very important!

And even if I do see it, I do not use it. I just go through the sections that have new posts, avoiding the ones I do not read (Politics mainly ;))

One alternate way that I track my threads or (ones I want to see) is through the "NOTIFY" button and an email account. Eliminating the searching for new posts in a thread manually all together.

I created a folder in my hotmail account specifically for gametechmods, and have it set so that all messages from gametechs are automatically forwarded to that folder (Using the "Sweep" function in hotmail and then "move all from", checking future messages prompt). then I can simply be notified through email when someone has posted in the said thread.
