I decided today on a complete rebuild on anarchist tomorrow because it was too big and the baseplate flexed too much because of the shape and basically reduced its flipping ability to nearly nothing, so I'm going to go fore a wider and shorter baseplate and a completely new flipper that i'll make on wednesday

anarchist is now officially going to be a spinner after the new year, hopefully invertible, i'm going to buy a disc for it from will thomas, the whole rebuild should cost about £40-£50 depending on the price of the disc

Right, there is what I see as two problems here:

For a start, lets just clarify that you've never built a serious robot yourself

To attempt to build a spinner for your first robot I see as a bad idea. They can be very dangerous even at the 150g level and could quite easily result in you having a missing finger. I would advise building something such as a servo driven flipper first yourself, and doing the best job possible i.e. Not simply taping components to a piece of HDPE. Secondly, if you are going to attempt a featherweight robot, build it yourself! By buying anything you ever compete with you will not learn, and not feel any sense of accomplishment.

Please do not take this the wrong way, and of course ultimately it's your decision. All I'm trying to do is give some advice, what I would do, and point you towards the best possible direction :)

I know and appreciate that :P, what I'm advising is to make one a little more professionally (i.e. held together with screws, not glue gun), because I'd hate to see what someone can do with a glue-gunned spinning blade

Anarchist will be held together with screws as soon as I get back to school because it's going through a complete rebuild so it is better than a glue gun manufactured accident waiting to happen, the spinner will be held together with screws as well
