Title: Team Trash 'Em/ Team B.R.U.M.M.I.E
Post by: botomatic1000 on May 11, 2016, 12:27:08 PM
Hello there im Botomatic aka Ethan Wall and im an amateur ra2 player that plays many mods but is not the best at any of them at all im ok at best. I thought I would post here first as I own my own robots just have never competed with them yet...  My first robot is jack the flipper an ok US class antweight viper kit lifter that I would use as a joke entry beetleweight here in the UK its pretty basic and does not really get used at all but will be used for tests for later robots. Second is Titanomyrma a design phase UK antweight armed with 2 screws as spikes. It when built will be around 1cm tall and should be ok at robotic soccer.
anyways that's all for now and I might as well add my favourite robot of all time is guzunderbot.

I wonder how well a Viper kit can take hits from a bot three times its size. The Vipers are well built, but not THAT well built.
Best of luck though.

Well some news on J.T.S it has been cancelled im not confident enough with a spinner there far too dangerous I may use the electronics for a later bot but this one is probably never going to be finished :(.

And Titanomyrma has now been halted for another year I simply am not exactly the smart type and anyways it would just be a block.

The majority of your posts regarding this bot across all forums and social media have been nothing but you acting all negative despite barely trying to accomplish anything. You work a little bit, get upset, and then come online to put yourself down as if that makes anything better. You can sit around and continue to call yourself names, or you can keep trying and actually get something done. I've gone through that sort of stuff before, and it gets me nowhere. All it does is waste time that could be better spent giving it a try.

and anyways it would just be a block.

No one cares that it's a brick. It's your first bot, no one is expecting a masterpiece. Having a working bot is much better than a vapor bot that never gets made.

This was my first bot. It came from a kit, but the top armor was finished the night before the event. My dad and I could have given up, but we didn't. It got second place at the event.

That's a nice robot I was planning on doing something similar to that on J.T.F but nah I wont anyways regarding Titanomyrma I don't have as much as a passion for it as I did starting it and heck I don't watch as much robot combat either its no longer as interesting to me. Maybe one day I will finish it and I was going to add a servo at one point and also had a plan for different lifting modules.

Well a relative has unfortunately misplaced my robot parts and I cant find them anywhere :( time to start from square one... Im thinking of just fixing and upgrading my first bot J.T.F or better yet building J.T.S

Yeah, he has Ants. I "fought" one of them that had a flipper, but I think the flipper broke beforehand and I can't quite remember why. I'll edit this post with the reason when I find it.

Sort of have a placeholder ant until I have time to make something actually good.
Recent shot from Reading (no prizes for which ant is mine) (https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/577502016-07-20 21_19_54-Microsoft Solitaire Collection.png)

(Also to ninja Joelu's edit, the flipper broke before Portsmouth because I broke the servo by being an idiot. New servo is in. It's not good but it works.)

I managed to get there at 12 so I missed the first rounds but still got too pilot Angry Bird minus the one fight it won which I missed. I had incredibly unlucky draws My first of which was against grand finalist I cant believe its not Stanley (or Stanley I don't remember).
The fight started with Angry Bird going to Stanley's side and instantly getting pushed by Stanley after he turns around and then pits me.
My second fight was against OmNomNom a spinner that folds! the match started with Angry Bird rushing for his spinner stopping it but getting flung across the arena with some wedge damage in the process. the second hit to the wedge ripped half of its joints off and once again flinging the bird across the arena. then a wheel was ripped off the bird as well as half its face. in desperation I tried to turn the bird around but it then toppled over and turnt itself off and I was out of AWS with a win/loss total of 1:2! All of it was great fun and I cant wait to do it again with my own bot :).

A little update on what the new Ant is gonna be like. Well for starters its now called lamprey (hope people know what one of them is) cause it grabs you and drains you of life. it will be a dustpan style robot with a clamp on top and wedglet things either side an will be about 2cm tall 8cm wide and 8cm long with 2 wheels. if anyone has any questions I would love people to ask them :) .

Blah blah triple pose guff :P
AWS 51 went incredibly well for Phantom Fox with her getting 2 wins and losses in the main tournament and eventually winning the Tag-Team Tournament with flying colours (even though she's white and see through :P)
(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/9220Phantom Fox pre fight.jpg)
First match was against a dustpan grabber built by Alex called Blellow the match had to be reset due to us falling in the pit at the same time and the second time it lasted pretty long with the dustpan almost falling in and getting flipped a bit but ultimately winning it by pitfall I had to remove the ears as they kept coming off which made me sad and made Phantom Fox angry. Second fight was against Bunny Ears a lifter it ended the way most fights between Rabbits and Foxes end nearly lasted the whole 3 minutes of me flipping it about and him lifting me nearly going in the pit many times before she flipped it in a pit. Baby Hell was my 3rd opponent a large black thing with an axe it ended pretty quickly with it being tossed out. My last match was against this big pig themed wedge (I think it was called Yoink!). at the start I flipped and pushed it almost into a pit but ultimately it got behind Phantom Fox and she was knocked out of the competition
I didn't do too well in the annihilator almost going out in round one after the switch turned off but I survived 4 rounds killing 2 robots (one was my tag-team partner Killerbite) before ultimately getting eliminated via pitfall.
The Tag-Team "tournament" was next and only 2 teams entered Phantom Fox and Killerbite (Team Fox-Bite) and the oher team which was comprised of two lifters one I don't remember the name of but was tall and made of Polycarbonate and the other was £4.82+VAT a weird low slung black robot with a pinstripe and a lifting trapping weapon. The match was pretty quick the lifting plate on one of my opponents came lose from the servo when I flipped it and it was pitted by me as it was counted out Killerbite managed to push  £4.82+VAT a bit and its lipo came out and then was flipped over by me and pushed in the pit as a victory celebration I pitted Killerbite and spun around in typical fashion.

She's not supposed to look too much like a Fox at all but I thought it would look pretty "cute" and would give it a "personality" before fights I used to rapidly put the flipper up and down making the googly eyes go mental people liked it a little.

thanks.
I better explain it to those who don't know what he's on about. I am making a Beetleweight out of 15mm HDPE which will use a Fingertech Beater-Bar as a weapon and 2 wheel drive. Hopefully it will be competing at the FRA BW Champs in February and possibly a Robots Live event or two but we'll see. I often discuss about it on the Discord group. Also Phantom Fox will be entering her second tournament on the  28th of January. Hopefully next year will be pretty fun for my robots

So Ant Freeze 4 went pretty well. Won one against previous AWS champion and grand finalist Why Wait (pretty nasty vertical spinner) with not much damage other than a slight gash on the top of the flipping plate and got beaten twice in the main bracket by flipper DystopiAnt and clusterbot Wedge Wedge Wedge. Got a decent performance in the side events coming 3rd in the Gladiator Rumble (if you count Wot R U Saying as immobile) with some minor damage to the side from one of Rory's spinners (a bit like PP3D from Robot Wars) and then coming 2nd in the pinball competition later on.

That's a pretty good result you got. I also got a few Questions to ask: If you were to enter the next Ant Freeze event, what might you do to improve your Ant weight or will you build a new one (I know this things ain't cheap but when you do have the money); and what was it like at Ant Freeze anyway, did you get along with anyone or you just focused on the main event.

Thanks for the questions I appreciate it :)
1: I'll make sure I do a better job sticking on the acetate and will cut out some spare panels. I am hoping to build another ant or flea sometime soon but I do also have other projects in mind
2: The venue was pretty nice and rather comfortable. The arena was pretty nice but did get absolutely battered by the spinners.
3: I get along with most people and try to say hello when they're not busy heck I've had a few discussions with people.

AWS 52 was yesterday and probably my most successful tourney yet in which I went 5-2 and got to the quarter finals but not without a price as Phantom Fox got completely busted up against Test Robot Please Ignore messing up the flipper mounts and the rear switch (thankfully replaced by Alex). I also got to drive part of the clusterbot EPZ for 3 fights but later had to hand the controls to Gareth as PF faced it twice (beat them both once while busted up). PF will return to combat soon it just needs some stuff hot glued back on and some polycarbonate replacements and she'll be good to run.

Glad to hear that AWS 52 went quite well, especially if you made it to the quarter final is worth a real achievement for yourself anyway. So moving away from your success, I got to love the logo on Phantom fox for the only reason being happens to be with the fox drawings you gave to Phantom Fox, fitting the theme of the phantom title well like painting a bot to a theme.

One last question: What with the thick wedge above the screwdriver? Do you have any plans to use it, or it's just there till some time in the future?

The logo was made by my mate Dom (Doodle on here) who does all sorts of team art commissions and stuff. It was made like that as I plan on doing a few canid themed bots
That wedge is off a D2 kit and will be used on my beetle for the Euro Champs called Minimus (no prizes to anyone who knows what its themed off)
I'll also be building an AW undercutter that uses a ridiculously big brushless motor on a T shaped chassis similar to Big Stick or Cleperechaun.
