Team Nebula
« on: March 31, 2016, 07:52:52 AM »
Figured I'd make a page for us, lol. Sure most of you know already but setting this up for future posts and stuff...

Team Nebula is a partnership between myself as captain, Tweedy (Plazmic Inferno), Adam (HereticBlue) and Matt who isn't on GTM. :P

As of a few weeks time we will fully own Tanto, the long-running heavyweight bot historically known for it's association with Team Danby who have been running different versions under the same name for many years, even being a reserve at RW Series 7.

When RW came around, Team Danby graciously lent us the Tanto platform as they had applied with other machines and we built a new disc setup on it and took part in the unaired pilot episode. We have really grown fond of the machine and hence have now come together to buy the bot and run it ourselves :)

So yeah. We'll post up our endeavors into this thread when applicable. We'll definitely be at the Portsmouth Robot Wars and Burgess Hill Robots Live events in May though, even if Tanto doesn't run, so come say hi. :)

I've been wondering... was Tanto underweight to start with or how did you get that massive weapon on it?

I hope you're allowed to use it soon.  ;)

I think it's a mixture of it being underweight and the fact that Robot Wars increased the weight allowance for the reboot ala BattleBots.

Yeah, what Badnik said. We had an extra 10kg from RW and in it's lightest setup, Tanto was somewhere around 80kg so we had plenty to work with. Because Tanto is so small though, the disc is probably smaller than it looks in photos too. Weighs around 9kg by itself.

Just the pilot, so not this time unfortunately. We're hoping to get into the next series, should there be one.

how does tento perform when it's inverted?

Tento is a ladybug :P

Tanto isn't invertible anymore so it relies on the disc really. Long term plans include some sort of srimech for live events.

Picked up Tanto yesterday, event was meh from my beetles. Hyperion managed some nice hits and took some big ones but kept on going. Noxa just wouldn't play so didn't run.

John Reid turned up on the Sunday with Terrorhurtz and like 90% of the pits went into fanboy mode. Got a picture of Tanto next to it to give a sense of how Tiny Tanto really is:

Took the disc off today after work to give it a cleanup and got a picture of it with Hyperion's heavier weapon to give a sense of scale:

What about Tanto
i'm only a finalist in BBEAMS 7 which was a meme tournament and I just stole a NAR AI bot and made it dense as ****.
and Not Bushido was a thing that happened, I beat the #1 seed despite being #bad seed.

Galacta?  Wormhole?  Orbit?

I dunno, I'm just going for the "Team Nebula" theme.

Sounds good to me, usually I'd like for bots to keep their original name but I understand the name change here, also hoping to see it in RW Season 2.
