Videos of the Featherweight Rumbles from Robots Live at the Museum of Flight, last Sunday.
Robots fighting: Tankslapper, PUG, Little Hitter, Clank 2, Onyx, Cicatrix, Mobot, and Hatchet 2.

RUMBLE ONE -

RUMBLE TWO -

RUMBLE THREE -

RUMBLE FOUR -

POST BATTLE DAMAGE PICTURES

The wedge plate got bent and two supports broke at the same part.
The padlock flew off almost immediately.
The spike was the only weapon to last to a second fight, where it promptly fell off after getting snapped close to the base.
Blew a fuse.
And a drill motor's casing sheared, causing the wires inside to wrap around it like spaghetti.

Despite all the blows from Battleaxe, Little Hitter, Hatchet 2 and Onyx, all the damage done to the top aluminium plate was superficial, the polycarb sheet underneath survived alomst unharmed, and the HDPE chassis escaped 95% unscathed.

Quad post... Eww...

Been doing a bit of design work and some 3D modelling on Sketchup again. Designing Tankslapper 2, it's kept a similar chassis shape, but with inside chassis support, a wedged front, and most significantly a lifter which will either be pneumatically powered or operated by a linear actuator. Currently I'm in favour of a linear actuator because I think it would be easier to wire up and takes up less space.

Thoughts?

How the hell is that Storm 2?

Anyways, seems like a decent idea but a flipper would be much more effective.
Oh I'll be doing some banging.......

It's mid speed and has the same weapons as Storm; that's like saying Storm 2 ripped off Griffon and Biohazard.

well storm 2 was more intended for ramming than lifting. they added the lifter to go with the active weapons rule.

But Biohazard is clearly a rip-off of Storm 2. [/sarcasm]

guys stahp

Also, it's not a 4 bar lifter. This is a 4 bar lifter.

Tankslapper 2 has this kinda thing going on. Green is one pair of rods, purple is the other pair, the orange dots are hinges.

I see, it looks a lot cheaper compared to the 4 bar lifter as well

So I fixed up Tankslapper today, put a new motor in, and it's all running smoothly which is pretty good.

I took apart the old drill motor to see what I could salvage, and apart from the screws and a few of the gears I kept the actual motor unit. Is it any good or should I just throw it? If I keep it what would it be good for, saw, drum, spinning bar, etc?

Also, I still have got to remake the wedge and flail, which won't be too difficult hopefully. And I'm going to mount the spike differently so it'll be more secure and take a few more hits.

Dont use it as a weapon, hold onto it in case one of your motors blows up or something. It happens and you never know. Brushed motors don't make good weapon motors either.

le spike attachment face

Gonna make the spike on Tankslapper more secure so it won't fall off again. I know that there are a few small plates of metal left over from a project that I did in third year so those are the dark grey rectangles on both sides. Bolts I can get from the store rooms or B&Q. The rounded right-angled parts I'll probably have to make unless I can find something similar at B&Q.

Thoughts?

That's the idea. It needs to be sturdy so I can actually use it to ram things.
