Post by: Hoppin on February 28, 2019, 06:38:25 PM
Im gay and I can beat Superbomb in a 1v1.

So I went to Antweight World Series 57 with Rest In Bepis: Rad Chad the Ultimate Dad EVO. I also co-drove the white cluster "Yeetus and Retreatus" with Sevalent. Good time.

Sup folks, figured I'd update this with my recent adventures into AWS59.

Unfortunately I didn't have my own entry however, I did co-drive Yeetus & Retreatus: Haha Yeah Man, Chad again. So that was pretty cool. I'd took control of Retreatus, the one with the pink ears.
Hopefully, I have Veorra setup for the next one!

Key points of the event: (Spoilers)

Timestamps (Again, spoilers)

I had no idea you was also a British roboteer!!

I’ve been working on my own IRL builds to get back into it all. Hopefully our paths will cross soon!

Likewise, hopefully I'll get a chance to see you guys at an upcoming event sometime.

AWS 59 looked like a blast, shame I was busy that weekend.

Back at it again with the white vans. AWS60!

We did it lads, we got Veorra this time. On top of this, the boys are back and ready to dunk on people. Once again, I drove Retreatus, this time sporting the SadFox emote on the front.

Key points of the event (Spoilers)

SHOUTOUT TO ALL YOU REAL GS WHO BIGGED US UP ON TWITCH :gunz:

Whats planned?

I'll be making some adjustments to Veorra. Mainly some extra wheels and the top gear motor changed out to a 20:1. On top of just some more driving practice!

Along with this, I'm working on an Ant for 2020. Front hinge! So look out for that.

Yo, tiny updates given I have 0 things to do atm.

Making progress on the new ant, revision 1 of the chassis complete for a geometry test. Just waiting for some other parts to arrive (servos, wheels and some other pieces). Stole some design choices from Yeatus & Retreatus like the rolled back being the main point. With ABS it's about 40g, but that's with 100% infill from the looks of it. Once I've done this part, I'll be looking to make the flipper panel. Had some ideas for fitting it, but we'll see how it pans out.

Parts have been showing up.
Receivers
Switches
9 Batteries

Still waiting for ESCs, Wheels and Servos

Title: Chatham Challenge Belt - Day 1 (Frenchiest Fries!)
Post by: Hoppin on July 05, 2021, 02:00:52 PM
Hellooooooo everybody.

Its beetleweight tiiiiiime. For the past X amount of months I've been making 2 beetles and over the last weekend one of them competed at Rapture Gaming Festival down in Kent, The Frenchiest Fries.
(If you haven't watched the event, here's a link to Jevan's channel which has them, Here! (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYrLK4FAq9KYCdn43Nlh1zA) Jevan killed it all weekend. So many thanks to him!

SO

THE PLAN WAS SIMPLE. WIN FOR THE BOYS.

Heres, what happened.

The format is round robin in groups of 4 in the heat, with the top 2 advancing to playoffs. In our heat we had; Igor, Toxin & Pain Per View.

In our first fight we had Igor (44:06) (https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/377251468882739202/861662527719866418/IMG_20210703_110803344_HDR.jpg). For this fight, we originally intended to use our own wedges, but they were last minute, dogsh** Gr2 titantium. Luckily for us, Tweedy off Toxin let us use his forks for the fight (Big thanks lad). We also decided to run our fleaweight wedge (Many thanks to Craig for driving that!). It really turned into a pushing match with us getting stuck at one point, needing a unstick. During this fight the big bots were having drive issues, as we discovered after, the cans of the motor would get pressed into by the wires, locking up the drive sometimes. Ultimately the fight ended in Igor getting pinned against the wall and counted out. Not the best way to win, but its what we gotta do! The Igor team were super nice and our pit table neighbours, so I hope there were no hard feelings!

Second fight of the heat, Toxin (2:40:20) (https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/377251468882739202/861662472393982015/IMG_20210703_110939282.jpg) :gawe:. Crooked Tweedy had taken back his forks! Understandably, he was clearly shook :)! During the fight, I was propped up about a minute on the wall and had assassinated my link, whilst I was out of it, Toxin lost one half of drive at some point during the fight and Sev took it the full 2 minutes, losing a back plate in the final seconds. We lost the JD and that put us at 1-1, but nothing electrical wise had died! Was an honour fighting Tweedy, dudes a goat when it comes to building bots <3

Heres the damage Tweedy did.
Link sniped (https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/377251468882739202/861664091532427294/IMG_20210703_145017_01.jpg)
Back panel (After we put it back on) (https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/377251468882739202/861664092829777951/IMG_20210703_144956_01.jpg)
Wedge chip damage (https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/377251468882739202/861664093048143872/IMG_20210703_142955.jpg)

Our next fight was against Pain Per View (4:39:15), chunky undercutter. For this fight, if we won, we'd advance to playoffs, if not, it'd be a rumble to decide winners.
I think we still had drive issues going into this fight, I'm not sure 100%. However, the fight was over rather quickly. I had pushed PPV into the wall and as he ramped over, caught my link. Sev then after a few shots got stuck crabwalking around by the pit and couldn't escape and got counted out. So 1-2 and put into a rumble. PPV's belt came off right at the end, but alas was little too late. No components lost however, just more of the drive issues as either a result of the ziptie getting cut or just general issues.

For our rumble (6:37:44), they had swapped around the 9 bots in the same situation, giving us random draws. In our rumble we had Pain Per View and the Rovengers.
Having a chat with the guys on the Rovengers, we decided to team up (Sorry Rob!). Rovengers is another cluster and they used their wedge and brick bots in this fight.

As far as damage to us (https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/377251468882739202/861662294584459284/IMG_20210703_175943257.jpg?width=901&height=676), again our drive locked up at times and we lost a side guard. But, the damage to PPV's weapon from losing the belt, was enough for us to advance to the playoffs!

Here's how they looked after day 1 (https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/377251468882739202/861664092405366835/20210703_195844.jpg?width=507&height=676)

Sup, had AWS 65 last weekend, partook with 3 robots. Also drove Yeatus and Retreatus with James of Team Phyte.

Cyrex - A Four Bar
Renegade - Front Hinge Flipper
Gordon - Overhead Spinner

TLDR.

1st with Yeetus and Retreatus, two time AWS champion
2nd with Cyrex (12 Fights total!)

Renegade 2-2
Gordon 1-2

Probably gonna make some changes, but this win and 2nd place really means a lot after all the sh** that happened start of this year.
