Right time for a big listy numbered reply :P

1) Yeah, Sketchup. Still, it's computer aided! :L
2) Weapon motor wise I don't care how it works as long as it looks like the bigger thing so I think that should do me fine. Bear in mind I have been chatting to Tweedy about this also.
3) Feather is still in planning but is gonna have to wait, I have literally no money or a lot of time until probably around April, so if I can get something running by Bluewater next year (if it runs) that'd be perfect. I'm also completely open to buying a FW should the right kinda one come up, but that's unlikely :') Keeping my eyes on the FRA For Sale section.

I did think that, but it sounds better than Picohurtz. Microhurtz is an option I guess.

Why doesn't Tweedy use Inventor or something that isn't Sketchup?

Because sketchup does everything I need, I do plan on learning inventor at some point but until then sketchup ticks all the boxes of the basic design stuff I do.

Don't mock Sketchup. I use it for my 3d printing business and it's earned me a damn lot of cash.

Craig I can't call Sketchup work CAD because autocad is it's own software. I just refer to the designs as 'meshes.' Sounds more professional too. I can understand why people don't want to use the term 'sketchup' because when it's mentioned, people think of it as a really crappy program for beginners. But obviously there's a lot to it that people are not aware of.

I know Tweedy is class but there always something Dave can advice you with. He has made a line of AWS Champions don't forget. (Sorry tweedy!)

Re-feathers. Get some HDPE, Argos drill motors and the same £3 wheels I'm using and you've got a cheap as fook FW That will work like a dream mate. I'm just being awkward because I've got s900's so I need an expensive speedo and I'm being more awkward because I want 4wd so I need belts and pullys ect... Oh and I like Hardox. ;)

Some thick HDPE and those components/escs will cost me more than I can really spend though, I'm doing this ant on the cheap.
I'll probably end up doing that feather plan over Summer :P

If you're doing a UK ant axebot I'd look into a spring loaded setup. There was a 1lb ant that used it to some success around here a few years ago, and I'd hazard a guess it'd work better in a lower weight class because of the obvious lower armor.

Ask Nate for more details, he fought it twice :V

I'll look into it in future, but for now, I just want something functioning. I'm not really competitive with my designs, if you couldn't tell :P

I can't argue with that lol, dave is worlds better than me in both AW and FW design.

the builder said he ditched it because it became ineffective. tbh it was more of a dustpan bot than an axe bot.

Hmm. The bot's eyes are painted so they are straight, i prefered where they weren't straight (like on the tshirt). It gives it more personality and has that MS paint quick job goodness to it.

'heated'
haha.

Snappy is going to be fixed up and have a few major upgrades over Christmas, and I've also bought the parts for my next project, Nanohurtz.
Yeah, antweight Terrorhurtz, whatcha gonna do? (mainly not be scared because it's going to not cause any damage)
(Image removed from quote.)
Current CAD of the HDPE 'box' the components will sit inside (thank you Tweedy), which will be surrounded by slanted polycarb, for authenticity.
Probably just speedhacking a 360 servo for the axe for now, so it might not even right due to the lack of torque, but it'll look cool, and that's all that matters. :P

that honestly doesn't look like it's gonna get under anything

That won't get under anything, that's not the actual outside shape.

That's because you're looking at the internal structure of it, that is without outer armour or a proper wedge.

go pretendo go!

Just trying out some stuff. At 11x11 base area it's much too big, but the length can be bought down a few cm.
Also, will be surrounded in polycarb, not just the front (I know it's card, it's representing polycarb :P)
Yeah, basic test to look at shape and stuff. Will look cool when it's done.

Some of the height will most likely be empty space, much like Terrorhurtz. The 'lid' on the internals will be down with the servo.
