I absolutely LOVE this game! I've been making some bots and youtube vids for it because I feel that there just isn't enough people showing off their creations and making this game more well-known. Anyways, I just made these 4 today. The physics in regards to steering is amazing in this game. You can even do the Minotaur celebration!Nice replicas. Just saying though, but you can insert your attachments to your post, so it will make it more easier to see the pictures

I could never figure out how to wire any of the motors even when following the instructions. So haven't made anything that works.

Hi guys, quite enjoying myself so far, I must say.
Couple of questions about future plans.
- Belted motors, are they happening?
-Circular custom weapons?
-Wiring UI and process being more streamlined? (Which tbh Idk why I'm asking this, you already answered this).
-How soon can we expect creations vs AI fights?
Overall tho, cracking stuff, I've been messing around in the multilayered chassis creation section for hours alone!

How to export bots?
Your robot is saved as a [robot name].RR2Bot file. Depending on if you are using a Windows machine or a Mac, the file is saved in a different location. Since it is just one file, you should be able to email the whole thing, or post it somewhere online if it is really big.
On a Windows machine it should be the following. I can't verify this at the moment on my Mac:
C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Nerd Island Studios LLC\Robot Rumble 2_0\Robots
On my Mac, the file is saved here:
Users ▸ [username] ▸ Library ▸ Application Support ▸ Nerd Island Studios LLC ▸ Robot Rumble 2_0 ▸ Robots

Updated Speed Demon a bunch to look more like the RA2 one, and to fix the ****ed up texturing. Pretty happy with it now, though it's not quite the same without the martini stripes

Heck, our house robots aren't even the correct size. D.B. is supposed to be about 20 kg. Ballerina should be about 35 kg. Please understand that numbers are going to get tweaked, optimized, and changed over the next six months.And I look forward to it!

In the meantime, here's an HS based on an unfinished CAD of mine. Any chance that later versions will have hollow tube shapes, for creating discs with weight-saving holes, or will we have to wait for the modding tool for that?

It was.honestly pretty fast and easy to make, just created a sideways model on tool creation section and gave made it 1.5 inch (i guess) tall. It is as accurate as it can be

Currently, I'm noticing the way to design is to put all the weight into the weapon and the wedge. With more weight being more damage and down force respectively

Panic Attack - Had to create quite a lot of new shapes for the decals and stuff, but thankfully the game allows for the creation of precise polygons. Cannot wait for the decal painting system to be working!

Sometimes I'd like to see the insides too to get an idea of how you guys make this things. I'm not good with them large components. Like one thing I wonder is do you guys also let things clip through each other inside the bots?I treat clipping the same as I do in DSL-IRL: it's okay for custom shapes to clip through things, since you could cut a hole for them IRL, but it's not okay for, say, motors to clip inside the battery. Fait Accompli's drive motors clip slightly, because each motor has two axles, but I let that slide because again, IRL, you'd just cut the unused axles off.

Red Devil - It doesn't fully articulate like the real thing but it can drive (just) and the claws move which is good enough for me.
I've been trying to find anything that's irritating when building within the bot builder to report back on here and for the most part I'm struggling to find much that isn't already mentioned or currently planned to be implemented later down the line. The only minor issues I've come across is that if you snap a new component onto an existing one on a subtle incline then the component will lay flat, not inclined. (Eg: I couldn't get the track pieces to sit at the same angle as the component they're snapped onto as they either lay flat or at too sharp an angle). And the rotation tool could maybe do with a few more angle points.

I started out trying to build a vs to learn how to use the botbuilder. After testing it in battle it would drive very stable but I quickly got tired of how often it would get flipped over, either from some havok-esque explosion or from touching the wall or something (which for some reason would keep lifting my robot). I tried giving it a srimech but couldn't figure out how to have controls for that along with the disk. So at this point I was really tired and gave it the roll cage. It works, though.
It still has this problem though where if it backs up into the wall in the test arena, it straight up freezes, probably due to the back stabilizers glitching into the wall or something. It also doesn't work period in the warehouse arena since it just rolls backwards upon spawn until it goes inside of the wall, and then is just stuck there forever. Still is a lot of fun though.

I’m considering adding a script to lower the height of the center of mass to make all robots more tip-resistant. It should help for almost every design except for something that is specifically designed to tip over. Off the top of my head, I can’t think of any real-world examples of such a design though. What do you guys think?
Overhead thwackbots like Stinger? I haven't tried building one in RR2 yet so I don't know whether they work currently. But for all the sh** RA3 deserves, that was one of the few things it got right: torque reaction worked. On the topic of the center of mass discussion: if robots IRL are less prone to tipping than robots in game, isn't there a more realistic way to go about making robots more stable? Also, I would think that the change would hurt flippers, since now its harder for them to invert robots that aren't invertible to win. I'm not necessarily opposed to it though, if its the best way to improve the stability of robots because that is something that will need to be ironed out eventually.
Edit: so on Nightmare it seems I accidentally deleted one of the spikes (you can see it in the image). I went back to fix it and then accidentally necroed the whole robot by moving a piece to a far away location and then clicking off, so that's that :dead:

I had a similar issue while building Goodbye Kiss, but I quit the game, reloaded, and that specific change hadn't been saved somehow. I've also had issues where I've moved something and released the mouse button, but it doesn't release the controls, so I end up accidentally dragging the object halfway across the screen and have to manually put it back where it was instead of just hitting Ctrl+Z.

I fixed it bois
Had to edit the coordinates of the piece in the bot file. I also smoothed out parts of the disk and made the chain on the gears closer to the size of the chain in the air.
It's actually pretty effective in battle, and somehow the spinner is strong enough to self right, so its basically everything I could have asked for.

I'll have to test, but I can't say I've noticed any real difference. I think it's equally likely to be an aesthetic thing, given how narrow the AmpFlow wheels are - people do the same thing with Colsons in RA2, where (IIRC) it gives you no grip advantage whatsoever. Two wheels are also more durable than one, but that's a factor that's only just come into play.

Its simpler than that now. Any .RR2Bot file that is in the /Robots folder will be loaded by the game automatically. No need to import or export.

I'm still waiting for multi-pulley belts before I can make a non-cheaty version - and gears, hydraulics, some mid-sized motors, the ability to overclock stuff, hinges and the ability to attach a cord to tense at the top of the claw's movement before I can make a fully mechanically accurate version with wings - but for now I'm happy with this.

My focus here was on bite and launching the opponent more than it is on pure KE, and it seems to work well. Tip speed is only ~120mph which is nothing compared to what some other people have been doing, but the spinup speed is decent, the weapon has a fair bit of weight behind it, and the amount of bite it gets is fantastic. Really launches stuff on impact. Also added the martini stripes that were missing in the previous version too.
I'm getting around 21mm of bite at full speed which from speaking to other folks seems to be on the higher end (Hop was getting around 13ish on one of his bots I believe, but he had higher KE). I think Absolute Zero and Spitfire both have zero bite when stationary, it goes up when they're moving though. Yeah IK. I've been struggling to do anything more elaborate with teeth though since you can't actually seem to place stuff directly opposite each other on the cylinder component. tu Here is my latest design works surprisingly well considering the teeth shouldn't have much bite.
It gets around 100mm bite when it hits something and the 30mm was just a quick spurt of gas as it turns a little from the force of the massive weapon.

I don't think much nerfing is necessary; once we start doing tournaments, people will work out for themselves how hopelessly impractical those kinds of weapons are and the "who can make the biggest Deep Six clone" contest should cease.

My 83kg bar spinner controls just fine.
From what I can tell it's not severely impacting my bots with heavy weapons it's really only making them harder to drive and giving me small annoyances this last 1 more so then the rest as it took a bot that was nimble when tested in aug6 build and made it slower and turn poorly left but right it can snap around like it should which I'm guessing is the gyroscopic effect being increased with the bleeding edge build.
Also out of curiosity does the aerodynamics of aay a blade have an effect? I ask as I feel my big disc type robots feel like they do better then bars?
On that same note would a thinner disc or bar at the same length have less drag aswell? And would blade shape have any effect such as creating lift or down force depending on shape?
So I found something interesting I took a version with big disc of shark bite(last bot posted) kept all stars ths same except used stretch to keep it 18 long but made it only 1 wide to create a bar in a sense that's slightly rounded and added weight back to get it as close to same weight as I could spins at the same rpm and tip speed but gained around 50 thousand joules of energy doesn't make sense and seems contradictory to what we were talking about above
It's the same thickness and same length but a width more in line with a bar spinner which unless I misunderstood you a bar spinner has more drag than a disc spinner of same length?

When you say "round sides" do you mean the wheel guards? cos I was struggling trying to figure out the best way to add some wheel protection that didn't look weird with the chassis shape. that was the best i could come up with. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, Thanks for the feedback :D

D:This has been a bug that effects every single robot since the August06 patch. I'm pretty sure everyone knows of it. It shouldn't affect your ability to get in.

I'm trying to build a saw robot, however, I'm encountering a strange phenomena when trying to attach a weapon to a weapon motor attached to an arm, hopefully this image helps illustrate it, but if I try spinning the actual saw, the blade starts spinning at a weird rpm, in this case ~95k, and the energy stays constant at ~150J, this essentially means the blade "jitters" between 2 positions and doesn't actually spin fully 360 degrees. Also, if I try to move the robot at all, the blade starts flying around the weapon motor. Any ideas what might be causing this and how to remedy this? In this case, my weapon spinner is the 4th one.Yeah it doesnt really work atm

Hello! I am JN 2002. I have YouTube channel there with more than 3k Subscribers. I just want to say that I am new here at Gametech-mod and also new for RR2. Just might wondering if my robots is actually leftright inverted. I'm not sure why but maybe you can investigate this. Here it is for my bots! Note! (This bots was made on Alpha build version!)
