(Hopefully this question hasn't been asked already...)
Anyone know what happened to Warhead and MOE? Those were my 2 most favourite underrated robots, and I hope they weren't scrapped.

MOE's team still does FIRST coaching. No idea if they scrapped MOE or not.

FIRST? As in a combat robot teaching centre, or robot combat? (I forgot what FIRST was...) Hopefully not.

Any news on Warhead?

FIRST does task-based robot events.  Their founder doesn't like violence, or even the concept of winners and losers, so that should give you a sense of how likely it is that a FIRST event will involve combat.  I would assume that Warhead still resides in the garage of Ian Lewis or Simon Scott.

Thx. Nice to hear that Warhead is most likely still with the family! I wish we could see him pop up some time.

Anyone else tried out the Hypertough drills from Walmart? I haven't picked one up yet, but looking at them, they seem to be a decent alternative to the Harborfreight drills.

Why aren't there more black guys in robot combat? Like the only guys I've seen is the dude with dreads in the Demolisher team and one dude in Robotica who had this cool ass bot that got beaten in the fight to the finish. Like wtf man, is this sh** like hockey or something?

Without getting too political, it requires a large amount of disposable income.

Not really; it's Pennsylvania so it's a bit of a trek for them.  That's some devotion.

I've wondered the same thing.  I think it has more to do with cultural differences.  Robotics is a geek hobby and, at least as far as I can tell, there aren't as many black geeks in general.  Like if you go into a game/comic store, it's mostly white people in there too.

It used to be that there weren't very many women geeks either and so there weren't very many women in robot combat.  But now that it's more "in" to be a woman and a geek, you see a bit more representation in the new Battlebots.  Still male-dominated but it's better than it was.  Blacks will get there eventually too, I expect.

To lack feeling is to be dead, but to act on every feeling is to be a child.

. In thinking about it, I remeber seeing a a preview for last season's Battlebots, which showed the Giant Nut being hoisted by a pair of white hands, and realizing that that didn't spoil anything.  One could argue that they were masculine looking, which ruled out Sweet Revenge, Chomp, and Plan X, but I don't think that would be much of a spoiler.

Strange question, but does anybody know what happened to Satan's Mutt, the UK featherweight built as a part of a challenge for the Gadget Show?

I spoke with Grant about Satans Mutt at the Featherweight champs last year, it uses a custom made valve that needs maintenance, however they don't have the time to fix it up so it's used exclusively as a display piece at their live events

i'm seeing more and more robots nowadays with spinners that only have one tooth, as opposed to two, three, or a more traditional number. i understand why they're doing this, but i'm wondering how. how do you figure out the way to make a disk/bar/spinning weapon bigger on one side and still be balanced?

most CAD softwares include a feature that can calculate the center of mass of an object, which you can use to create the hole for a weapon shaft on any object.

most people just get theirs cut/machined for them using cnc machines or laser cutters
