I still don't get why they were taken out of the picture in the first place, and the surprising amount of massive circlejerking regarding that decision which happened with robotic "experts". I remember finding a news article which said something along the lines of "Hurr durr I'm glad they're gone nao bcuz the title of superheavyweights sounds redicolus, especially when you consider that heavyweights are the best boxers. Also, they are not entertaining and have dwindling numbers hurr hurr hurr and I know nothing about robot combat's heritage." I wanted to find where that guy lived and beat the living crap out of him for posting that tabloid-based drivel.

nobody built superheavies after bb because the cost to build one is astronomically high. and no more tv deal meant no more sponsorships. the only reason that superheavy existed in the first place was to let snake fight.

Yo I gots a question for y'all. We're throwin this one all the way back to '99 so I don't know if Imma get an answer. But in the RW Series 1 finals, what the heck was with Cunning Plan and Tracie getting immobilized. Tracie drove up the wedge and JP's all like" hoopty doopty they're both out cheerio." Like what was going on there?

In that particular fight there were no house robots in the arena, so if anyone was to separate them, it would be one of their opponents.  I think it would've been nice for one of the teams to help them out, but I can't blame them, they were there to play ball.

No, but this guy's building reminds me of him. Salvaged RC car parts and duct tape, you know.

Word.  :gawe:

When your entire robot costs as much as just the fancy weapon motor of your opponent and you still win and burn their motor out in the process that's a pretty cool feeling.
The rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated.

Hey a bunch of Handiworks drills with Team Cosmos hubs showed up on ebay
Probably gonna pick these up, but if not these would be pretty good in a hobbyweight(or beetle if you're insane enough).

On an unrelated note my sisters kid saw battlebots and heard from them that I used to do that, now he's all in frenzy mode so I'll be dragging him out to bot bash in a few weeks.
Depending on commitment from him I might be making bots again at some point in the near future.

It would be cool to see a mini-DoS show up at Moto this year.
