Predictions for Grand Finalists.

A: Aftershock (Predictable.)
B: Eruption (50/50 with this and PP3D to be honest.)
C: MR Speed Squared (Neat improvements make this look like a solid robot. I have faith, but it's not backed up by much.)
D: Pulsar (Reliability issues hopefully sorted out, and lots of improvements made here too.)
E: Carbide (Better than the only other threat in this Heat anyway.)

Wildcard: PP3D (I said it was a 50/50 with this and Eruption, sooo...)

Too bad the BBC micro-bit page had to spoil about Behemoth in their video for young children wanting to start in combat robotics *Tut tut* If you want the link then PM me.

Still, looking forward to tonight's episode with the strong line-up set ahead, especially when the heat contains strong competitors like  Aftershock, Rapid and Terrorhurtz. The battles themselves, I'm watching them with my Dad, since he wanted to watch the episodes with me as usual like  every-time my family watches one of the specials from the old series of Top Gear.

Just watched the first episode of New Series and before I share my opinion, what do some of you guys think about the episode and what did you like about the new series so far?

House Robots going rogue is pretty funny.

I didn't find it that funny but still, at least the House Robots got more involved in the series so far. Also if you did see the trailer for the next episode, Heat B and E were swapped around, probably either because of the Champions Apollo or the producers found Heat B a bit weak, I'm not too sure. Can't wait for the next episode though.

Frustrating that this episode highlighted the biggest problem of Series 8, which was barely-functioning robots making the heat final due to the round robin format.

Aftershock was awesome though.

Have to agree, especially in the round robin when AfterShock performed an unsportsmanlike move on Sabretooth by damaging them when Sabretooth was already immobilised. I still feel bad for Terrorhurtz though, and ofcourse Sabretooth.

In the old days Series 3 turned around everything within the format. Hope Season 3 does the same thing

My two cents:
-Team Shock may be my new fave combat robots team. Shockwave was one of my faves in S8, and Aftershock is just plain amazing. Aftershock definitely deserved that win, hope they carry on through the finals.

-Redemption 4 Gabe; Sabertooth '17 was a beast, almost as much as Aftershock... but it never was really the same after the latter tore it to chunks. I got a serious 'held together with scotch tape' vibe when they ended up repaired, that's how bad the damage was. I think it would've won the heat (or at least had a better chance of doing so) had Aftershock not happened. They deserved to get as far as they did though

-Poor Terrorhurtz and John Reid, screwed over in the head-to-heads for the second time in a row. John did an admirable job putting Terrorhurtz back together after the run-in with Sabertooth, but... think VSs are not the best opponents for it.

-OK show of hands, who actually expected Jellyfish to win anything. Granted it was a judge's decision against a Sabertooth that looked barely taped back together, but... yeah. Sabertooth would had shredded the cnidarian machine had it been in better condition. TBF to Jellyfish the design would probably have worked if it weren't made from HDPE (see: Huggy Bear)

-I felt TMHWK and Crank-E would have done better had they not been subjected to Sabertooth and Aftershock respectively. Nuts 2 going out the way it did (and not being reinstated) was a crying shame. Rapid's dropping out is a cautionary tale in why over-complication is never a good thing.

After Aftershock hit Sabretooth, Look like Sir Killalot going to grab him and put him on fire, Nice Job Aftershock.

Look like I going to bet Aftershock to win Robot Wars Series 9.

I'm not sure I like the randomised tire button. Letting the house robots have a bit more say is good, but the dial makes me think more of a kids game show then a gladitorial contest.

Though what if they built on it? Would we have the Wheel of (Mis)Fortune in season 10?

I do have an advantage over others since I went to see it. We weren't told what fights were which but I watched fights from Heats 2, 3 and 4.
